《Mate To The Dragon》Lyzaria

"Wait so your name is Angel?" I ask Daerius' sister.
"Yeah, fits great doesn't it?" She scoffs.
"That's only because you try your hardest to prove that your name doesn't fit," a man says, walking up to us.
"Oh! Lyza this is Gamma Mykael, he gets to hang out with us today. My brother never lets me leave without at least four guards and either Mykael, our Beta, or himself," Angel mutters in annoyance.
"Are you two ready to go?" He asks and I nod.
A black SUV suddenly pulls up in front of us and I follow Angel inside. The inside is designed like a limo, with colorful lights running along the seats that are sideways.
There is a cooler at one end and a TV at the other. I gape at the interior, ignoring Angel's amused smile.
"Have you been in a limo before?" She asks and I shake my head.
"I've never been in a car before," I say and she stares at me.
"Wow, that must suck."
I sit down with Angel beside me and watch with wide eyes as four massive figures suddenly sit down as well. They all look very tough with rigid postures and stern expressions.
"Don't worry about them, they don't talk or do anything but follow us around," Angel assures me.
When we start driving, I keep my face pressed against the window. Trees of red and gold fly by and I admire the beauty of it all.
"Hey do you want something to drink?" Angel suddenly asks as we exit the forest.
"Sure," I shrug.
She opens the cooler and the smell of alcohol hits my nose. She pops the top off a small blue bottle and hands it to me.

"What is this?" I ask.
"It's a wine cooler mixed with fruit juice, try it," she says, getting her own. I tip the bottle up to my lips and take a swallow.
My eyebrows shoot up in surprise at the sweet, fruity flavor. The only alcohol I've ever had was very bitter and burned my throat but this just warmed my chest. "Wow," I mutter and Angel chuckles.
"So since you're new I'm guessing you need just about everything, right?" She asks and I nod.
"Yeah, the clothes I was wearing when I came here are all torn up so I literally have nothing."
"Well this mall is great, it is one of the biggest shopping centers around. Plus my brother owns almost all of it so we get a really great discount," she grins.
"He owns it?"
"Well he owns the land anyway and the stores rent out spaces, that's how the pack gets most of its money," she explains.
I nod in understanding and take another drink of my wine cooler.
We finally come to a stop and we get out of the car. My eyes widen as they catch sight of the huge building.
Angel immediately drags me inside with Mykael and the four men following right behind us. I watch as she pulls me into a massive pink and black store.
"Wait what is this—oh," I mutter, my eyes widening as I catch sight of the inside. There are bras, panties, and lingerie covering every inch of the walls.
"Welcome to every girl's favorite store," Angel declares dramatically.
"Fuck this," I murmur, blowing a breath out of my mouth. It takes everything I have to not run away in terror.
"This is going to be a lot of fun! Now you have a much bigger rack than I do so you should look great in this shit," she chuckles, shoving me through the store and into a dressing room at the back.

"Hey can we get her sized?" Angel asks a girl in a black and pink uniform. She is fussing with a computer and nods absentmindedly.
"Yeah, sure. Just come in here—damn! You two look like our models," she says in surprise when she turns around.
"Yeah yeah whatever, we get that all the time. Now can we get her fitted?" Angel mutters in annoyance making me frown a little.
She's very confident.
For good reason though, my dragon comments.
"—just come right in here," she says and leads me towards an empty room.
"Okay let me know when you're done, I'm going to go look around so we can try some stuff on," Angel says cheerily before vanishing into the store.
I look toward the exit but see the men from the truck standing attentively. There is no way you can get past them, my dragon tells me.
I sigh tiredly. "This is going to be a long day."

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
