《the sincerity taehyung couldn't deliver.||COMPLETED》if you need me

When the sun's already up, Taehyung does no longer try to fall asleep, instead he takes a walk around the streets, letting the cool breeze ruffle his hair.
This is this. This is the world he's living in, the world without Jeongguk.
Acting like he doesn't exist was much easier than accepting the fact that he's living without him. It was easier to think of him not existing than thinking he's out there living happily with someone else.
Yes, he's being pathetic. But it isn't easy to be happy for him. Taehyung knows it's selfish.
Getting back inside, granny and Daeun are already discussing something they read in today's newspaper and don't notice his presence at first.
"Ah, good morning, Taehyungie!"
"Sorry, granny. Me and Taehyung need to have a talk," Daeun says with a voice of a confident woman and drags the man out of the kitchen.
"Did you meet him?" she rushes once they get on the terrace.
"Who?"
"Jeongguk, you idiot," Daeun rolls her eyes. "I know he's in the town."
"How do you know he's here?"
Sighing, she's really about to roll her eyes again.
"Everyone does. His concert was sold out in a few minutes."
Taehyung lifts his eyebrows at Daeun's awkward chuckle.
"But-"
"MeandJiminmadeaplantomakeyoumeeteachother."
"What?" Taehyung's mouth falls open.
"I just told you!" she groans.
"No, you didn't. I just heard the 'you and jimin' part," he complains but the realisation of the words he said hits him.
"Oh my god," he covers his mouth. "You and Jimin!"
Quickly putting her hands in front of her, she tries to stop him from overreacting but he already knew what was going on.
"Listen, I am sorry but you two needed to talk!"
"No, we didn't, Daeun. Me and Jeongguk have nothing to do with each other anymore," he snickers, still holding back from the screaming.

"Look, Tae. Jeongguk, he's not what he looks like!"
"I don't want to hear it, Daeun," he sighs and starts walking back inside until she tries to stop him by his arm.
"No, you don't understand-"
"No, I don't!" he finally raises his voice, making Daeun shut her mouth quickly and freeze at her place.
"I don't know him. I only know the Jeongguk I used to know," he speaks in much weaker voice and walks to his room with a head held down.
________
"Well, whatever it is, it means enough to keep you bothered for the whole evening."
"It's okay, Jungho. I don't even want to-" he starts but is immediately cut off.
"Yeah, you do. And I want to see what's so special about it, so we're going," the younger boy says on the other side of the line, smiling.
"Jungho..."
"See you at 7," he states and cancels the call before Taehyung can complain any more.
As a frown plasters on his face, there is a knock coming from the slightly opened door.
"Tae...?" Daeun carefully peaks inside the room.
"I came to apologise," she shutters while stepping inside and closing the door behind.
"Jimin contacted me first, I mean...it's not like it's his fault, we just wanted you two to meet each other and...We expected it to be a beautiful euphoric moment but..." she explains in a small voice, feeling the guilt inside.
"It's fine Dae, I am not mad at you," he speaks calmly.
They both stare at the floor, room filling with an awkward silence.
"Have you decided if you're going tonight?"
"Jungho kinda forced me into it..."
"Does he know-?" she starts but he quickly cuts her off.
"No."
Of course he couldn't tell him it's actually his ex's concert.

"Okay..."
"I will be going if that's all you wanted," he starts putting on the coat as he talks and wanders around the room to grab his phone and use a cologne; Jeongguk's favourite.
"Uhm, yeah. Enjoy it," Daeun says awkwardly and steps to the side to let him walk through the door.
"Bye, D," he waves and disappears behind the corner.
"Bye..." with a sigh, she throws herself on his bed and hopes for everything to go well tonight.
________
"I can't wait to see him. Everyone says he's so handsome," the boy keeps blabbing and Taehyung has to listen very carefully in order to hear him through the crowd of thousands of people inside the stadium.
"His name's Jeongguk and he's just about our age."
"You mean my age. You are still a kid."
"I am 22," the younger boy rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, still a kid."
"I've heard about him before," Taehyung mumbles after a while, seeming uninterested but the reason is the stress he's currently going through.
"Of course you have, Everyone knows him," the smaller boy playfully rolls his eyes.
"Actually-"
"Psst, it's starting!" Jungho jumps like a little excited baby and without realising, he takes Taehyung's hand in the rush of the moment.
The younger looks down at their intertwined hands and is just about to apologise until Taehyung tightens their hold on each other with a little smile.
Hand in hand, he leaves a sigh and looks up at the stage where the boy he used to be so desperately in love is about to sing his heart out.
_______
This was a big mistake.
He should have never come here in the first place.
Watching Jeongguk in his full glory was much harder than Taehyung thought. Every song reminds him so much but he barely thinks about anything at all as he's watching the boy on the stage. He's far, too far to see his expression clearly but his smile is so bright and the love in his starry eyes is filling up the whole stadium.
Taehyung's thankful his partner is too caught up in the performance that he doesn't realise the older's tearing up. Quickly wiping his tears away, he tightens the grip on Jungho's hand and watches the big screen which captures Jeongguk's dancing.
"He's amazing, isn't he?" Jungho asks excitedly, proud smile playing on his lips.
Taehyung nods.
"He is," he whispers.
"Thank you," Jeongguk's angelic voice sounds around the stadium.
"I am so happy I got to spend this beautiful time with you. As always, I prepared one last song for you. Please listen."
He sits on a chair in front of the stage, a shiny mic in his hand. Soft melody plays from the speakers around the place and Jeongguk's eyes close as he sings.
Have we spent too much time on what we used to be?
Am I making up details in the memories?
Have I got too caught up on the you and me thing?
Well, I'm hoping not, 'cause I loved all we got
Outta sight, don't mean out of mind
Not in your space, but you're still in mine
Hope you don't think I can leave you like that
If you need me, I'll be right there
When you're dreaming all your nightmares
I'll come tackle the monsters
I'll find where they hide in the nighttime
If you need me, I'll be right there
When you're happy and when you're scared
I can still be your shoulder
I'll be by your side, even if I'm not next to you
To you (All I have)

World Story: Biographies of Extraordinary People
Important note: I’d like to thank Dr. Buller for their advice on dialogue by their critical review. And I’m on a one-month break to post the first revised chapters on Scribble Hub. Please stay tuned! Even in faraway worlds, every folk had a story, and monsters came in numerous shapes and sizes. However, heroes never existed in this otherworld. Even the most idealistic understood this deep within. But as they abandoned their humanity at times, they quickly regained it. It was not that they became human again. They always were. So what happened when the monster devoid of humanity appeared? Well, the “heroes” sought to slay it at all costs either way, lest it would be the end of their stories. A portal/isekai fantasy that I wanted to deconstruct some elements within. Expect a whole ton of references and dialogue because I’ll deliberately write it more like a light novel. The last thing to consider is that Japanese names in my novel will come with kanji/hiragana characters within parentheses. The same goes for any other derived from non-Latin writing systems. It’s because none of the names I write will be accidental or random. They’ll all have meaning. New chapters Monday to Thursday at 11:00 PM (GMT+8), though sometimes I can’t. Credit for the cover art goes to HWPerfidy. She’s a freelance artist on this site, and I’d love anyone who shows her support.
