《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》102 - Immaculate (Seb POV)

The next morning, Sebastian kind of just wanted to curl up and die. He had lost track of how much he drank by the end of the night and was definitely feeling it now.

He woke with the bed feeling like a reeling ship when he felt Rylee stand up from the bed. Suddenly the blanket on him disappeared and he groaned.

He threw one of his arms over his eyes to shut out as much light as possible, his other hand reached out desperately for the now missing blanket, a pout overtaking his lips when he still couldn't find it after a few seconds.

Suddenly, he felt the soft fabric touch his fingers and he let out a sigh of relief. "Mm. Thanks, Ry," Sebastian replied with a deep morning drawl as he drew the blanket up over him.

"You gonna make it?" Rylee chuckled at Sebastian's sad state as she put on her glasses.

"Nope." Sebastian replied quietly, now buried and curled into the blanket, even on this warm June morning.

Rylee slowly padded around the bed, patting him on the butt as she walked by, "I'll be right back."

Sebastian groaned back in understanding.

God, how could she be up and walking around right now? I'd keel over. His stomach churned slightly, making him feel nauseated for a moment. "Ughhh." Sebastian groaned.

It was getting warm under the blanket as he had his whole body covered but he didn't care. It was dark and that was all he needed at the moment.

He jumped slightly when he Rylee started talking. He didn't hear her come back into the room.

"You know, your eyeballs are safe. Curtains are closed," Rylee said as Sebastian felt the bed dip next to him.

He pulled the blanket down, enough to squint in Rylee's direction, putting out his hand, waiting for her ibuprofen offering.

He realized he needed to sit up to take them and groaned as he slowly pushed the blanket off and pulled himself up to lean against the headboard. He popped the ibuprofen into his mouth and took a swig of the Gatorade Rylee offered.

"Thanks, baby." Sebastian said, voice husky and low, still trying to wake up.

"You're welcome," Rylee said as she gently sat on the bed and leaned over to give him a swift kiss, "I'm going to get some Round Corner delivered. And we can just camp in bed."

Oh my god yes. Give me all the greasy food.

"God I fucking love you. I knew there was a reason I'm marrying you." Sebastian said as he stretched, slowly laying back down in the bed.

Sebastian heard Rylee laugh as he curled back up into the blanket and held it up, beckoning Rylee to crawl in with him.

Sebastian, again didn't know how Rylee was thriving through the day. It was about 11 AM and Rylee reminded him that she had switched shifts with Jenna so she was starting at noon, which was abnormal for her usual Friday schedule.

Sebastian was still on the hangover train, but luckily, it was starting to settle a bit.

Rylee poked her head under the blanket to give a quick goodbye and I love you to Sebastian which he gave in return before he quickly rolled over and decided to take a nap to stem off the last bits of the headache and nausea trying to naw at him.

——————————

Sebastian's extra nap did him wonders and by the time he fully woke up, his hangover had seemed to, overall, subside.

At around five, he sat in bed for a bit and scrolled through social media and news outlets when his phone rang in his hand, Daniel's name popping up on the screen. He quickly accepted it, putting it on speaker.

"Hey man, how's it going?"

"Hey Seb, not too bad, how about you?"

"Not too bad, what's up?"

"So you know I just bought the house in the city yeah? Well I called up Chris and Anthony seeing if they could come help me with some stuff here...hoping you may be able to come help to?

"Yeah, absolutely man. When were you thinking?"

"Uh, like now?" Daniel chuckled awkwardly.

"No problem, for once I'm actually not doing anything. Just shoot me your address. I can be out the door in," he looked down at his watch, "20 minutes?"

"Sounds good man, you're a fuckin' life saver. See you soon."

"Alrighty man, see yah."

As soon as he hung up with Daniel, he texted Rylee. He wanted to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything they had planned before he went to help Daniel for the evening.

😍

Hey, I know you've got that weird schedule today, you work til like 8 right?

Ryles ❤️

Yeah, not sure why I agreed to it. The days been dragging. No one ever comes in here til like 9.

Seb 😍

Ugh I can imagine.

Would you be okay to get yourself dinner tonight?

Daniel asked me and a few other people to come over and help him at his new place.

❤️

Oh. Sure. Yeah that's fine.

😍

You sure? We don't have anything going on right?

❤️

Yeah, no..we don't. What're y'all going to be doing?

😍

Not quite sure. I think moving shit.

❤️

Ah, well be safe. Love you

😍

Love you too

He stood up from the couch, relieved that he hadn't magically forgotten anything, and went to go change into other clothes he was okay with possibly getting messy. He wasn't sure what all they were doing. But he assumed moving furniture or something.

He got to Daniel's house in Brooklyn around 6:00 and was welcomed inside by the man himself offering him a cigar and a whiskey. Sebastian laughed but accepted both offerings. When he walked through the door he saw Anthony and Chris already there, kicked back on the couch, delving into their own cigars.

He sat down next to Anthony, fist bumping him as he did. He held his glass up to Chris and took a swig. Daniel sat down next to Chris on the other couch, cigar hanging from his mouth.

Daniel took his cigar out between his fingers now and looked at the group.

"So...listen. I wrecked IKEA yesterday. But now I have a shit ton of furniture that needs built and moved to wherever the hell it's supposed to go. So...you've all been graciously recruited."

"Happy to help, I can't be in the same room as this ass though," Seb pointed over to his right at Anthony. "We'll kill each other."

Anthony pointed back, hesitating for a second before he said, "You know what, yeah. We'll murder each other if we have to build furniture. Our friendship won't survive."

All the men laughed and stood up, following Daniel across the house to his combination office/library.

They started all working on various bits, a desk, a bed frame, tables, chairs. Daniel wasn't joking when he said he bought out Ikea. He had every kind of furniture, even things Sebastian hadn't thought of.

It was going to be a long night.

——————————

The guys had been working for quite sometime, taking a break a few hours in for some pizza and beers, relaxing on the newly constructed couches for the game room downstairs.

But now they were all scattered throughout the living room. They were pretty much done putting together the furniture, and were now just tweaking where Daniel wanted it all to be positioned.

He was definitely right to call the three of them to help, because it would've taken a decade for him to do it all alone, and Daniel expressed many times how eternally grateful he was for them and their help.

Sebastian took out his phone and was surprised to see it was close to 11:30. He felt bad that Rylee had been stuck home alone this evening, since Alexa was out of town helping her parents this weekend.

He shot her a few quick texts, and then slid his phone back into his pocket.

😍

Hey baby, almost done here.

They wanted to hang after but I'd rather get home to you

See you in a bit ❤️

About half an hour later, while the guys were talking around the game room bar, Sebastian felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a message from Rylee.

❤️

😍

Ryles what's going on?

Sebastian was left super befuddled. He'd never heard of a Teddy before. And why was she at someone's place if she didn't know them?

"Do any of you guys know a Teddy?"

Anthony, Chris, and Daniel all looked amongst themselves, shrugging and shaking their heads.

"Why?" Anthony questioned.

"Rylee's texting me...and I think she's drunk...but she mentioned she was at someone's named Teddy? She said in Brooklyn?"

Chris sat up now, "Oh, wait. That's not a person, it's a place. That's a bar..it's on, uh, Berry Street. Yeah..a few blocks north."

Well that makes more sense, especially with her obvious lack of spelling and grammar skills.

"And of course she was just texting back and forth with me and now she disappeared..." Sebastian rubbed his hand on the back of his neck.

As he finished his sentence, she texted him back, but what he read made his heart drop.

😍

I'm gonna come pick you up, okay?

I'm only three blocks away.

Sit tight.

"Sorry guys. I'm gonna go get her. I'm not sure what's going on...she's got me worried." Sebastian said as he stood up and went towards the door to slide on his shoes.

"Everything okay?" Anthony asked, concerned.

"I'm honestly not sure. I'll keep you guys updated though."

He did a two finger wave as he walked out the door, running his hand through his long hair.

Sebastian walked quickly down the street, passing his car down the next block, and turning onto Berry Street.

Shit. There's a line outside.

Sebastian wasn't sure at first what to do, but when he walked up towards the bouncer at the door he noticed the look in his eyes, that "why do I know you look?" that Sebastian was extremely familiar with. And then he saw the look change into recognition.

"You're Sebastian Stan right?"

"I am, actually, yeah."

"Head on in my man, love those Marvel movies."

Sebastian shook the man's hand and thanked him, walking into the dimly lit bar. He took a moment to try and let his eyes adjust and began walking towards the bar, looking every direction for any hint of Rylee's presence.

As he made his way through the crowd, a blonde woman stopped him, very obviously drunk to noon tomorrow, "Oh my god, you're Sebastian Stan right?"

He didn't want to be rude but he had to find Rylee. "No, I get that a lot though."

"You've gotta be though! Cause his fiancé is totally here! I did shots with her!"

"Oh yeah?" Sebastian interest peaked now, "Where was she?"

"Over there at the other side of the bar! She's so fun! You should go meet her! Maybe she's still there."

"Maybe I will, thanks." What're the odds. He began walking through the sea of people towards the direction that the blonde pointed. And holy shit. That had to be her. Black tank top, brown hair curled immaculately, and if he could get close enough he'd probably see, yep. Black Converse.

He got closer now but started seeing red. He could see a man in a button down shirt, sitting close to Rylee, his hand in her lap. Even from this distance he could see how uncomfortable she looked, even being as drunk as he now saw she was.

God, she was plastered.

When he finally got within earshot, he heard Rylee say, "Please...stop touching..me."

"Why?" The man said, and Sebastian finally got in arms reach.

The man looked like he gripped Rylee's leg, enough for Rylee to make a face in pain.

Sebastian grabbed the back of the man's shirt, pulling him off balance from his bar stool, his hand leaving Rylee's thigh.

"Because she fucking told you to, you motherfucker."

Sebastian pulled the man down to the floor, the crowd parting, so he fell the whole way down. He had to keep himself in check, he could beat this guy to a pulp just for asking "why?" to any girl, but to Rylee? Fuck.

He straightened back up quickly and turned Rylee's stool around, with her still on it.

Sebastian saw that look of recognition dawn on Rylee's completely plastered face, looking like a deer in the headlights.

"W-what are you doing here?" She asked, not even really concerned, almost just confused.

Sebastian took Rylee's hand and helped her off the stool. She was more than just a deer in the headlights, she seemed to have baby deer legs as well, as she was wobbly when she tried to stand up.

"Hey!" The man he threw on the ground, had now gotten up, and was ready to follow them out.

"Oh, fuckin' piss off, yah fucking creep."

He wrapped his arm around her waist and helped her away from the bar, through the crowd and out the door into the warm night air.

Once they got outside, the crowd in line saw them leave and head down the block, whispers consumed many.

They walked slowly to his car, but he didn't say anything to her yet. He wasn't sure what to say.

He opened the passenger door and gently helped her sit down, leaning across the front of her to make sure she was buckled in. He then shut the door as he walked around to the driver side, slid into his seat and started the car.

It was another moment of being in silence. He was about to speak up, but Rylee beat him to it.

"How did you-"

"You texted me...said someone was touching you...wouldn't leave you alone...I didn't realize you were obliterated..."

At a stoplight, Sebastian searched through his backpack behind the seat for a minute and pulled out a half full water bottle and handed it to Rylee, "Here, drink this."

She took the bottle from him and finished it almost instantaneously. She must be really dehydrated to chug it all that fast.

Sebastian took a moment to collect his thoughts. He wasn't sure what he was feeling.

"I can't figure out if I should ask you what happened and why you were drinking in a random bar alone now, or wait til you're sober..."

Rylee's fingers moved swiftly across the sleeve of her shirt, which confused Sebastian for a moment but then he realized she was trying to pluck a loose string from her shirt.

"I was juss done with today." Rylee responded, having now successfully plucked at her string.

"We can leave it at that for now then...just...are you okay? Did he...-"

Rylee shook her head, though, "I'm okay."

Sebastian nodded as the light changed green and they continued on their way home. Sebastian still wasn't sure how he was feeling. Worry had overtaken him, but that feeling had settled into a mix of sadness, worry, and confusion.

Rylee leaned her head against the window, as they drove the rest of the way home in silence.
