《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》75 - How'd It Feel?

Sebastian wasn't able to leave the set for another two hours and he was hating every minute of it. He kept trying to call Rylee, but she turned her phone off so he kept getting sent straight to voicemail.

He had also been on the phone with his agent and publicist trying to figure out why nothing got done about the article the day it happened let alone why it was still posted at all. But no one had answers for him.

Once he could finally leave the lot, he went straight back to the hotel room, opening the door slowly.

"Ryles?" Sebastian asked quietly into the partially lit space.

As he stepped further in he saw that the lights for the sitting room were dimmed. He walked cautiously around the corner to see Rylee laying on the sofa, still in the dress from the studio, fast asleep. There was an empty bottle of wine on the coffee table and tear stains down Rylee's cheeks. Sebastian's heart completely shattered.

She had barely been here a day and this was already how the trip was going. He felt awful. He tried to protect her from all this two weeks ago, but now it had come back to bite him in the ass. He'd never gotten confirmation that it had been handled. He should've checked.

Sebastian walked into the room, sitting on the edge of the sofa by Rylee, running his hand gently up and down her arm, "Hey...baby."

Rylee stirred slightly, eyes slowly opening, and at first she almost looked happy to see him. But as soon as she had an extra second to remember what had happened and why, she was back to upset.

"Seb. Why. Why not just tell me?" Rylee's tears began again slowly, her speech slightly slurred from the wine she had drank over the last two hours.

"I'm so sorry, Ryles," Sebastian said quietly, running a hand through his hair roughly. "I had told my publicist about it and it was supposed to get handled. I don't know what happened."

"But why not just tell me anyway? Why'd I have to find out from James Freakin' Corden?" Rylee sobbed into the throw pillow now scrunched in her arms.

"Alexa sent it to me the day of your surgery. I didn't want you to have to deal with any added stress coming off of all that."

"Welp! Here we are. Stressing now instead of then." Rylee threw her arms up slightly.

"Ryles-"

"No. Don't 'Ryles' me. I'm allowed to be upset. You should have told me." She tried hitting his chest with her balled up fists but it didn't do much. Sebastian pulled her up and into a tight embrace as her tears quietly fell.

"Even if we tell people the articles not true they won't believe us. And if we don't say anything people will think it's true and then I'm just some hoe that got knocked up not even a year into dating..." Rylee rattled on, not even really sure what she was saying anymore.

"Rylee. Stop." Sebastian said, holding her tighter.

Rylee continued in her drunken stupor, "Why even be with me if I cause this much trouble. All the articles lately have been because of me. They'd all be done if you just found someone better. Without all this shitty baggage."

"Rylee! You need to stop. I love you and I don't give a shit what articles say, or other people or whoever. We know each other. We love each other. That's what matters. We could live under a fucking bridge with no money to our names and I would still choose you every single time."

Sebastian continued, "and also honestly you're right. No matter what, people will probably say you're pregnant. But so what? They'll find out real quick when you don't magically start walking around with a baby in like six months. We know you're not pregnant. So fuck them."

They sat wrapped together for a few minutes in silence. Soon, Sebastian spoke softly, slowly rubbing Rylee's arm, "I'm sorry...I should have told you about the article. I had honestly hoped that it would just get taken down and you wouldn't even have to know about it to have to worry. My original thought was that I was helping you but now I can see how it would've made more sense to tell you about it."

There was a beat of silence and Rylee whispered, "Yeah...you're dumb." A small hiccuping giggle broke out of her now ending gentle sobs.

Sebastian couldn't help but let out a small laugh, relieved by the giggle that left Rylee's lips, "Yeah...really fucking dumb...could you forgive a dumbass?"

Rylee sat up, a little more serious now, at least as serious as she could be after clearing out a bottle of wine, "You have to promise me...this can't happen again...I need to know about this stuff. Even if it's something stupid..."

"I promise, never again. You're strong...and resilient. I don't know why I ever thought it needed buried in the first place. We're better together, and we should know everything together. I'm really sorry Ryles."

Rylee stayed still for a moment. Pondering his words when eventually she said "Forgiven."

He put his hand on the side of her face gently, pulling her in closely to kiss her, still tasting the wine on her lips and tongue from earlier.

They separated for a moment, foreheads pressed together lightly when Sebastian sat back, a smirk growing on his face, "the drink in my face though?"

Rylee ducked her face into his chest, almost in embarrassment, "I'm sorry." She sat up, looking up to see his blue eyes shining back at her, "I saw a girl do it to her boyfriend at Ruby's once and I always wondered how it would feel..."

"Well?" Sebastian questioned.

"Well what?" Rylee asked, confusion crossing her face.

"How'd it feel?" Sebastian asked genuinely.

"It felt...good? Surprisingly good. But I'm still sorry." She ducked back into Sebastian's chest.

Sebastian chuckled lightly, "I deserved it anyway..." he pulled her tightly to his chest, his hand combing into the hair at the nape of her neck.

"Honestly though," he continued quietly, "I'm sorry."

"I just...Michael's done a lot to fuck me up over the years...I've been so used to being left out of important information, or ignored, or just flat out told to 'mind my fuckin' business'..so when...when James said that...I don't know, my brain went back to that...that fight or flight." Rylee spoke quietly, she could tell Sebastian was listening closely to what she had to say, another thing she was starting to get used to..being listened to.

"I know he's long gone now...but it's just...it's still taking me time to get out of that thought process...you and I have been together this long...and it's still hard for me to believe you're here...with me...and that you love me." Rylee was playing with Sebastian's shirt hem, avoiding his gaze.

"I can't imagine how hard that is. But I promise you, I will love you and show you what it means to be loved. Everyday. I don't want you to ever feel like that ever again."

Rylee nodded, and sat back up to kiss Sebastian deeply, "I love you." She whispered quietly.

"And I love you." Sebastian whispered back.

Rylee woke up early the next morning, laying on her left side facing the wall, confused for a moment. Their walls weren't beige...they were off-white. Eventually her half asleep brain caught up with her. Right. Los Angeles. Hotel.

She felt a warm pressure across her stomach and looked over to see Sebastian still fast asleep, arm resting across her body, holding her tightly, as if she would float away if he let go. His face was buried into her shoulder, body as close as possible.

She smiled to herself, taking in the feel of his warmth along her back. She had missed this for the past few weeks. She didn't want to get out of bed and lose this quiet moment, so she grabbed her phone and scrolled through her various social media and other sites.

She shouldn't have been surprised, but as she scrolled she saw an article with a title that quite literally screamed her name.

Last night, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Hayley Atwell were in an interview on the Late Late Show with James Corden. As they all chatted Hayley talked about how she could never give up the role of Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers' love interest, Chris Evans discussed how it felt to get back into the suit one last time, and the training it took to get ready for stunts.

Sebastian Stan was then asked about the boot he was wearing, which he has been sporting for the last few months after he had his cast removed. Stan confirmed the stories floating around that he was performing a stunt with Evans and his harness failed, causing him to fall 25 feet to the ground. He also mentioned that he was unconscious so he didn't remember any of it. How awful!

We reported to you all a few months ago the day that the incident occurred and have been keeping up with his status since then. He continually had to return to the hospital, it is assumed for therapy, but one day he went in and didn't come back out until the next day. A reliable source says that his original injury did not heal correctly and he had to get his leg reset around Christmas time. What a bummer!

Stan has been healthy enough to go on the promotional tour with the group and has since upgraded from a plaster cast to a walking boot.

While on the Late Late Show, the group all played a game of Truth or Drink where each person picked a paper out of a bowl with a "Have you ever..." question written on it. If you answer you don't drink, and if you don't answer you do drink.

Stan's last question stuck out the most, it being "Have you ever been pregnant or had kids?'

Stan's response was "Weird question, but no I've never been pregnant." James Corden chimed in, bringing to the forefront. The article discussed how, recently, Stan's current girlfriend, Rylee Summers, had bought a pregnancy test at a nearby convenience store. Stan still denies any pregnancy but it seemed as if he danced around the subject.

The kicker of all this though, was that Rylee was in the crowd that night, along with a friend. When Sebastian's pregnancy question came up, sources in the audience say Summers quickly exited the room looking emotional, her friend following close behind.

All Rylee could do was shake her head. E!News could really never just leave us alone. The small movement caused Sebastian to stir. He yawned and stretched slightly, keeping his arm secure around Rylee, "g'morning."

"Morning," Rylee answered, though her voice sounded annoyed.

"Everything okay? ..D-did you change your mind about last night?" Sebastian sat up and started diving into hypotheticals, worried.

"No everything's fine. Sober me still very much agrees with tipsy me. All is forgiven. Which leads to this..." Rylee held her phone up by her shoulder so Sebastian could read the article.

He flopped more onto Rylee, head leaning on her shoulder, "Why can't they just find something else to dig through. Like world peace. Or something."

Rylee let out a small huff of a laugh at his joke, "If only..."

"Are you okay?" Sebastian asked, rubbing her hip gently.

"I am. What you said last night really hit home for me...the important people know the truth, no one else matters. As you so eloquently put it, 'Fuck them.'" Rylee stated seriously but then laughed.

Sebastian squeezed her into a tight hug.

Sebastian looked at the time on the bedside table, it read 6:30. "Well, I don't have to be anywhere for another hour and a half...whatever shall we do with the time..."

"Hmm...what could we possibly do to kill an hour and a half," Rylee responded, tapping her chin with her finger. She paused for a moment and then laughed as Sebastian dove into kissing her neck.
