《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》72 - You Can Ask Him

Sebastian wasn't gone for too long, but when he walked back in, Rylee was awake and was chatting away with the other girls in the room, curtain pulled the whole way open.

"How'd you two meet?"

"Well funny enough, my friend got drunk at a wedding and indirectly gave him my number." She smirked and then laughed thinking about it. She made sure not to mention Chris or Alexa since they've been pretty decent so far at keeping things under wraps.

"Are you talking about how you met the dashing George Clooney?" Sebastian asked as he entered the room with his large coffee.

The girls chuckled, and Rylee rolled her eyes with a loving smile, "Yeah, George is lovely."

Sebastian sat down in the chair on Rylee's right, facing the rest of the room.

"You two are so cute together." Abby said.

"Thanks, he's okay." Rylee joked.

Sebastian scrunched his nose at Rylee with a smirk.

The group continued chatting for the next hour or so until the nurses came around and said that visiting hours were over.

Abby, Ryleigh, and Charlotte bent down to hug Devyn and started saying their goodbyes. As they started to walk out they paused by Rylee and Sebastian. Charlotte, Devyn's mom spoke up first, "I'm guessing you guys will be gone in the morning, but it was really nice meeting you two, you're very lovely," she smiled.

"It was nice to meet you all too," Rylee replied, Sebastian nodding in agreement.

There was a silence when Abby and Ryleigh looked back and forth between one another.

Rylee looked between them both, reading their minds, "You can ask him. He'll say yes." She laughed lightly.

Sebastian raised an eyebrow at Rylee and then looked at the girls.

Ryleigh was the brave one who, instead of asking, just stuck her arms out wide but inserted a shrug as if asking for a hug.

Sebastian laughed, and stood up taking Ryleigh into an embrace. He did the same with Abby, and of course, with Charlotte as well. "It was really nice to meet you all and to hang out! Be safe getting home."

"Bye Devyn! Bye Rylee and Sebastian!" They all said mishmashed together as they left, the room falling quiet.

"Thanks for...humoring them." Devyn mentioned quietly, between breaths.

"They're great, we're glad you guys were the ones we got as roommates and not some crazies." Rylee stated.

Sebastian nodded, adding, "Yeah, you've been very lovely too."

"I'll put it...on my college apps," she waved her hand in the air like she was displaying something remarkable, "Sebastian Stan...thinks I'm lovely."

"Hey, I'll sign off on it." Sebastian smirked as they all laughed.

"Well thanks again for the... 'lovely' hang sesh, but I'm...going to catch some sleep....Would you mind ....hitting the lights?" Devyn asked.

"Sure thing, have a good night, Devyn. If you need anything, just holler." Sebastian mentioned as he hit the lights, bringing the room to a faint dim setting.

"Night Devyn!" Rylee tacked on with a small wave.

——————————

"Alright Miss Nevaro, are you ready to get up and about?"

Sebastian had fallen asleep on the chair yet again, his arms crossed over his chest, hat over his face. But when the nurse came in to talk to Devyn, he had woken up.

"As ready as I'll ever be." Devyn said as she sat up slowly, stretching as she went. She eventually stood up and grabbed hold of her IV rack.

"Lookin strong, Dev." Sebastian said with a thumbs up, stretching his aching muscles, as Devyn and her nurse walked by.

"Thanks, Sebastian!" She laughed doing finger guns in his direction as they left the room.

A few minutes later, Rylee's nurse, Steve, came knocking on the door. Rylee stirred awake and greeted Steve as he checked the various machines around her.

"Well, all your numbers are looking great! I'm just going to pass this along to Dr. Bailey and I think you'll be able to head out of here in the next hour!"

"Oh wow, great!" Rylee was genuinely surprised.

"That's amazing," Sebastian said with a huge smile plastered on his face.

Steve shuffled out of the room and now it was just Sebastian and Rylee, finally alone for the first time since she arrived.

He laced his fingers with hers and brought her hand to his lips, kissing along her knuckles.

"How's your 1-10?" Sebastian smirked as he asked.

"3." Rylee answered confidentially with a smile.

He gave her hand a squeeze, a beat of silence passing between them. "I'm glad you're okay," he said rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand. He realized he did that often. At first starting as a comfort for her, but it morphed into a comfort for him. Another beat passed.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here with you earlier...Alexa told me about the pregnancy test...I hate that you went through that alone."

Rylee lightly shrugged, but Sebastian shook his head, "Honestly. I don't care what time of day it is, if I'm in the country, across the world, across the room, please tell me next time. I don't ever want you to feel alone during that. Whether we plan it or not, okay Ryles?"

Rylee nodded, tears brimming her eyes. "It was so surreal. You have to sit there for three minutes...for three whole minutes you're trying to figure out how much your world is about to change...and then having a stick tell you it will change, but a doctor saying it won't...just...it was definitely a rollercoaster..." she paused for a moment.

"But I've got to say...for a solid minute of that three minute span, I accepted the possibility...and I wanted it...I really did."

Rylee squeezed Sebastian's hand. "But then I realized how much I wanted it someday, just not right now."

Sebastian nodded in understanding, "I feel the same way. I know some people would just look at the length of our relationship and brush our feelings off as a "honeymoon phase" but I feel so much more than that."

Sebastian paused for a moment to collect his thoughts, "I can honestly say I've never felt like this dating anyone else before. I am so goddamn in love with you Rylee Ann. I see us married. I see us with kids. Sure, not right at this moment, but I see it happening. And I've never seen that with anyone else before."

Rylee wiped away a stray tear that fell while Sebastian spoke. He took all the feelings she had and found a way to put them into words. She reached her hands out, sitting up slightly, and he automatically dove into embracing her, carefully placing a hand on her back and his other on the back of her head, weaving his fingers gently through her hair.

"I love you," Sebastian whispered into Rylee's hair.

"I love you," Rylee mumbled into Sebastian's shirt.

Sebastian leaned down to gently kiss Rylee, touching their foreheads together afterwards, taking in the comfortable silence.

As Sebastian turned to sit down, grasping Rylee's hand in his, Dr. Bailey walked in.

"Gooood morning, Rylee, Sebastian. How's everyone doing?"

Both Rylee and Sebastian responded, "great" at the same time, causing them to chuckle.

"Good, good. Well great news, everything seems in order to get you discharged this morning." Dr. Bailey continued, discussing what Rylee would have to do at home the next few days, but mentioned she should be able to get back to her normal routine in 2-3 days.

Rylee and Sebastian both thanked Dr. Bailey as she left.

Sebastian stood up and made his way around the bed to the other chair that had a small bag on it. It was the stuff that Alexa went to go get for Rylee yesterday. He had realized that she must've come back last night when they were both asleep because when he had woke up to talk to the girls behind the curtain, he saw it sitting there.

He slowly helped Rylee get out of bed and get dressed into what Alexa had brought. Rylee was thankful that Alexa had packed her a lightly flowy teal colored dress because she was so not about to wear pants today.

As Rylee slipped on her shoes, Devyn came strolling back into the room, a nurse in tow.

"Hey, good timing, we're about to head home. We were hoping we'd get to say goodbye." Sebastian smiled as Devyn walked in.

"Yay! That's so...exciting!" Devyn said, sounding a bit winded from her walk.

Sebastian stepped over towards her to give her a hug, and Rylee did the same.

"Feel better soon, okay?" Sebastian tagged on as Rylee and Devyn separated.

"I'll do my best...Sergeant." Devyn said with a wink and a small salute, chuckling, pulling a laugh out of Sebastian and Rylee.

Sebastian grabbed Rylee's bag and waved goodbye again as he placed his other hand gently on the small of Rylee's back, leaving the room.

——————————

Sebastian hated that he had to leave. He knew Rylee would be okay, especially since Alexa was going to spend the next few days at Sebastian and Rylee's place...Plus the fact that the girls were flying to Los Angeles in a week and a half made him feel better too.

As he thought about it, Alexa knocked on the door and walked in, carrying a duffle bag.

"Heyyy!" She practically shouted through the living room.

"Wow," Sebastian laughed, "hey."

"Where's Ry?"

"Bathroom."

As Sebastian said that, Rylee came walking around the corner. "Lex is here!"

"You guys scare me...you know you need to wait like...at least two days before you start partying right?" Sebastian laughed.

"Seb. We're responsible adults..." Alexa said, side-eyeing Rylee with a laugh.

"Oi. Just. Please don't kill each other before you fly out to LA. I'd appreciate not having to explain this to Chris." Sebastian laughed.

Everyone laughed for a moment and then Sebastian said, "Okay, are you girls sure you're gonna be okay? Do you need anything before I go?"

"No dad," Alexa laughed.

"Hey, only Rylee's allowed to call me that," Sebastian winked as he went in to give Alexa a hug.

Rylee practically screamed with laughter yelling, "I don't do that! No!"

Sebastian parted with Alexa and came over to hug Rylee and whispered in her ear, "You sure you're gonna be okay?"

Her laughter now dying down in his embrace, "Yeah, baby, I'll be okay." They separated far enough to make eye contact and then they both met in the middle for a long, parting kiss.

"I love you," Rylee spoke as they parted slowly.

"I love you, too," Sebastian replied.

"I'll see you girls soon! Be safe!" Sebastian said as he started to walk out the door.

The girls both said bye in unison as Sebastian shut the door.

——————————

Six hours later, Sebastian was back in Los Angeles and on his way to the hotel. He texted Kevin, Chris, and Anthony and let them know he was back.

How's Rylee?

She's really good. Her surgery went well and now her and Alexa are hanging out the next few days.

Oh god help us.

Basically 😂

When you get back to the hotel, come on down the hall, we've got drinks in my room.

That sounds perfect.

Probably be there in half an hour.

Almost like clock work, Sebastian was knocking on Chris' door half an hour later. Chris opened it, Captain and Coke in each hand, and he passed one to Sebastian.

"Fuck, thank you. That plane ride was awful. I love babies but there were like six of them crying somewhere throughout the plane I swear." Sebastian said as he plopped on the edge of Chris' bed.

He took a large gulp, almost downing the drink entirely in one go.

"So, when are we supposed to be downstairs tomorrow?"

"7:30" Anthony responded, clearly a few drinks deep already.

"Yeah, 7:30." Chris confirmed.

"Perfect." Sebastian replied as he finished his drink and went over for another.

"You good?" Anthony asked.

"This has just...been a week." Sebastian chuckled as he grabbed his newly filled glass off the table.

"I'm trusting this information to you two. And only you two. But the whole reason Rylee even went to the doctor and found out about her appendix was because she took a pregnancy test and it was positive."

"Wait...Rylee's pregnant?" Chris asked seriously.

Anthony perked up as well, sitting up on the bed.

"No, she's not. The doctor said appendicitis can mess with your hormones, which in turn can mess with test results. But fuck that hit me hard." Sebastian said, taking another long sip of his drink.

"Everything's all good?" Anthony asked.

"Yeah. Just we both realized we want that eventually...kids and stuff. Marriage. But just not right this second."

"Oh, so you all got serious, serious this week," Chris stated.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that. I know we haven't even been together an an entire year yet but Rylee is so different from anyone else I've been with. I could honestly see us married some day. Kids running around. All that." He shrugged as he spoke.

Chris and Anthony didn't speak they just simultaneously raised their glasses after Sebastian finished speaking and took a drink.

The guys spent the rest of the evening relaxing but eventually Sebastian and Anthony went back to their own rooms so they could sleep off whatever they consumed and make it through their interviews the next morning.
