Rylee was rolled into surgery and put under general anesthesia by 5:00. Alexa sat in the waiting room, scrolling through the news and came across an article with Rylee's name and it made her heart sink.

Written by Jocelyn Smith

Our source floating around Manhattan today saw Rylee Summers, Sebastian Stan's girlfriend, quickly trudging down the cold New York City street and dipping quickly into a small convenience store.

While she was at the register, she could be seen buying one item, a pregnancy test. Could there be a little Stan on the way?

No one is sure exactly when Stan and Summers started dating, but they were seen out together for the first time in June last year. So we can guess they've been together for around 7-8 months.

Stan is currently across the country in Los Angeles starting the press tour for the newest Marvel movie, Captain America: The Last Mission.

Alexa was in shock. This all literally happened this morning and these people were already jumping all over her friend.

She copied the link and sent it to Sebastian.

Just saw this.

I feel like some major damage control may have to go down...I don't want this to be the first thing she sees coming out of surgery.

Ugh. Fucking E!News. Of course.

I'll talk with my publicist.

Figure out what the hell to do.

How's Ry been?

Okay. She's been on quite an emotional rollercoaster today.

I'm mid-flight btw. I'll be landing in an hour and a half.

Really? You didn't have to fly all the way out here.

It's Rylee. I'd fly to the ends of the Earth for that girl just to say hello.

Oh, Sebastian. You're such a sweetheart.

Gotta make sure my girls good.

You'd do it for Chris.

Alexa thought about it and, yeah, she would absolutely do that for Chris.

You're right.

Well, text me when you land, and I'll let you know where we're at, okay? Be safe.

Thanks Lex, will do, I appreciate it.

An hour and a half later, Rylee was out of surgery and in the recovery room. Dr. Bailey came out to talk to Alexa and said the surgery went well and that Rylee was expected to wake up in the next half hour and then she would be moved to her patient room.

Alexa thanked Dr. Bailey for the update and sat back down immediately texting Sebastian.

Rylee's out. Doctor said everything went smooth and she'll wake up in the next half hour. She'll get a room then.

That's great. I actually just got off the plane a few minutes ago. About to get a car. It's like a 15 minute drive from LaGuardia.

Great. See you soon.

The next half hour seemed to drag on. Alexa kept her phone in hand just in case Sebastian called. As she scrolled through social media she heard the sliding doors open. She looked up and saw Sebastian walk in. She stood up and met him half way, meeting in the middle for a hug.

"Hey Lex, how are you?" Sebastian asked genuinely.

"I'm doing okay. The doctor should be out any minute to take us to her room."

"Good timing then, huh." Sebastian walked over with Alexa to the seats and sat down beside her.

"Yeah, you missed all the fun of sitting here waiting." Alexa laughed.

"Believe me, I would've rather been waiting here than waiting on the plane like I did."

Just then, Dr. Bailey walked back out, and shook hands with Sebastian.

"I didn't realize this was a VIP case. I would have accommodated Rylee's room differently. I apologize. I can change it immediately."

"Honestly, don't worry about it." Sebastian replied. "She wouldn't mind having a room with someone else."

Dr. Bailey nodded and led them back to room 436, a two-bed room and Rylee was in the bed closest to the door. The curtain between the beds was drawn and it appeared with the dimness of the other side of the room that the other person was sleeping.

Rylee was fully awake and alert as Dr. Bailey led the way into the room, Alexa right behind her, and Sebastian close behind Alexa.

At first Rylee didn't realize that Sebastian was there. Alexa had bent down to hug her and had covered her vision of him until she straightened up. Then she saw him.

Sebastian stood at the foot of the bed, hands in his pockets and a lopsided smile. "Hey you."

Rylee covered her mouth with her hand, at a loss for words, and then tears began to stream down her face. "Oh my god, you're here." He walked around the bed to gently hug her, pulling back slightly to swipe away her tears and leaned back down to kiss her.

"Yeah, sweets, I'm here." He pushed some loose pieces of hair back behind her ear as he sat down next to her, taking her hand in his.

Dr. Bailey stepped closer and discussed the surgery with Sebastian, Rylee, and Alexa. Everything went smoothly and they stuck with the laparoscopic method to remove her appendix. They made three small incisions, each barely an inch long, around her bellybutton region.

The doctor also explained that she was lucky that she came in when she did, because her appendix looked about ready to burst when they got in there to remove it. And she would've had a lot more serious problems if that had happened.

She continued by saying, again, that the surgery went well and that Rylee should be able to get discharged tomorrow evening, if not even in the afternoon. They just like most people to stay overnight for observation.

Everyone thanked Dr. Bailey and shook her hand and then she departed, leaving them to talk.

"I don't understand. How are you here?" Rylee asked Sebastian in awe.

"When Alexa called me this afternoon, I called Kevin right after and he told me to fly back for the night and come back tomorrow. Chris and Anthony are going to do the next two days' interviews." Sebastian answered, rubbing his thumb along the back of Rylee's hand.

Rylee sniffled, trying to hold back more tears. Sebastian wasn't sure if it was just the anesthesia still wearing off or if everything was just crashing down on her at once.

"Are you okay, baby?" He squeezed her left hand gently as he asked.

"I'm great. I'm so glad you're here. And that you stayed Alexa," Rylee grabbed Alexa's hand with her right, "You guys are the best support system anyone could ever want or ask for." Her words started to slur together a bit by the end of her thought.

"Pretty sure you're stuck with us for life, so I'm glad." Alexa retorted with a smirk. Sebastian nodded in agreement.

Sebastian noticed Rylee's eyes starting to slowly close before she would try to jolt them back open, feigning that she was awake and alert.

"Why don't you get some rest, I'll be here when you wake up, okay?" Sebastian placed his palm gently against Rylee's cheek, rubbing his thumb along her cheekbone.

"Mmkay. I love you guys." Rylee mumbled as she allowed sleep to overtake her.

"Love you too," Both Sebastian and Alexa said in unison.

"How about, I run over to your place and grab her some clothes to leave in tomorrow?" Alexa asked standing up. Even though she was sleeping she still wanted to give Rylee and Sebastian time together. "Oh, I also may have drove your car here...hope you don't mind...it's great by the way." Alexa tacked on to suck up.

Sebastian let out a quiet laugh, "That's perfectly okay, Lex, you can drive it whenever. And thanks, it's not too shabby."

"Great, well I'll be back...Keep me updated if anything changes for some reason?" Alexa asked.

"Absolutely. Thanks for running, I appreciate it."

Alexa nodded and left, the room falling into a gentle silence. This was the first time he remembered that there was another person in the room, behind the curtain. Their machines started beeping and a nurse came jogging in. He couldn't see what was happening but she pushed some buttons and the sounds stopped. She wrote down a few numbers on the white board on the wall, and in a flash she was gone again.

Sebastian started scrolling through his phone to pass the time, though he was tired. He laced his fingers with Rylee's and kicked back in his chair. He tipped the baseball hat he was wearing down over his eyes and got comfortable, falling asleep soon after.

——————————

"That's him right? I'm not crazy?"

"Shh. You're..so..loud."

"But IS IT?"

"Why would he be here? Don't they have fancy hospital wings for celebrities?"

"You're....all....still.....loud."

"Devyn. This is important."

"Even if it is him, what're you gonna do? Hmm? Walk right up and say 'hey, I know we're in a hospital but are you Sebastian Stan?'"

Sebastian stirred from his sleep, unsure why but he thought he heard his name come from his subconscious or a dream or something. He still kept his hat down over his face and tried to ignore it, attempting to drift back to sleep.

"Even if....it is him....how 'bout...you just...leave him...alone."

"But I love his movies Devyn..."

"No...you just...love him."

"Okay maybe.....but his movies are good too."

At that Sebastian knew he was no longer hearing anything in his head. There were people behind him. Talking about him. He opened his eyes more, and even under the hat he could see the lights around the other bed were much brighter than before.

He decided to just go for it.

He pushed his hat up, and in a regular volume voice, he simply said, "Thanks," trying not to smirk.

He found out at this moment that you can indeed hear two or three people jump out of their skin at once, yelping at his response from behind the curtain.

Sebastian pretended to knock on the curtain, verbally saying "knock knock" as he tapped the curtain.

Someone from the other side paused momentarily but then pulled the curtain back and revealed the group. When Sebastian leaned back in the chair to catch a glimpse of who was talking, he was impressed with himself, he pictured them all pretty accurately.

There were four people total over there. The furthest away person looked to probably be the girl in the bed's mom, she looked to be in her forties, shoulder length brown hair, and looked like she would do CrossFit. There were two other girls on the other side of the bed. Both had long wavy brown hair, and probably could've passed for twins if anyone asked and looked to be around 16 or so years old.

The blonde girl in the bed, also looking about 16, had an oxygen tank and a cannula as well as multiple tubes and wires spread all over her arms and the bed to reach the machines behind her. She looked a little bit frail, but Sebastian figured it was probably just because of whatever reason she was here.

He gave the group a two finger wave with his open hand as he stayed pretty much where he had been the last two hours, kicked back in his chair, right hand still laced with Rylee's left.

"Hi." Sebastian said simply as he smiled at the group.

"Oh my gosh, hi. We are so sorry if we woke you up. That was rude." One of the girls closest to him said.

"Nah you girls are okay, I needed to wake up anyway."

"You...can be honest...they're rude." The girl in bed said between deep breaths. It looked laborious for her to make long sentences.

They all laughed quietly and one of the girls playfully slapped the girl in the bed's arm.

"Well, might as well be official, hi, I'm Sebastian."

The girl closest to him, the one who he believed brought him up to begin with, spoke first, "Hi, my name is Ryleigh," she gestured to the girl next to her, "this is Abby," she then gestured to the girl in bed, "this is Devyn," and then gestured across the bed to the older woman, "and that is Charlotte, Devyn's mom."

Each person waved as they were introduced.

"Ryleigh... that's funny, that's my girlfriend's name." Sebastian said pointing his thumb over his shoulder towards Rylee, still unbothered in her sleep.

"I know- I mean. Ugh. Just Ye-Yeah, I know. She spells it different though. I'm

R-Y-L-E-I-G-H. Your Rylee's parents took sympathy on her and spelled it shorter." Sebastian could tell that she was embarrassed to know this information, but he didn't mind. It was common knowledge at this point in his opinion. He laughed, which made her face light up and become much less sheepish looking.

"Is it rude to ask why you're here? Do people do that in hospitals?" Abby asked.

Charlotte retorted, "Yes, Abby, it's kind of very rude to ask."

"It's okay. Rylee wouldn't mind anyone knowing. She had appendicitis and had to get an appendectomy this afternoon. She's doing well though." He smiled, looking back at Rylee's sleeping figure, rubbing his thumb along the back of her hand again.

"Well that's good. Glad to hear it." Ryleigh commented, "this one here," pointing her thumb towards Devyn, "decided to go and have a severe asthma attack during a basketball game yesterday. Scared the shit out of all of us."

"Language." Charlotte chimed in.

Devyn chimed in as well, "Well sorry...I chose to...keel over...at an...inopportune time...Ry."

They all laughed about it momentarily. Sebastian was glad they did because sometimes conversations like that go from 0 to 100 really quick and he wasn't sure where it was headed.

"Well, it was nice to meet you guys. But I've gotta run down and grab some coffee from the cafeteria...would anyone else want any?"

Everyone declined but thanked him for the offer. As he left the room, and walked around the corner, he heard all the girls quietly squeal. He laughed to himself about it, glad that if Rylee had to share a room with someone, at least they were sort of chill.
