A few hours later, Sebastian slowly woke up from his morphine stupor and his leg felt like it was throbbing. It took him a moment to remember he was in the hospital.

He looked around quickly and saw Rylee. She was sitting in a chair, but she was laying with her head on her arms on the side of the bed, fast asleep. She had a book closed in her lap. Her backs going to feel like shit when she wakes up.

He gently ran his fingers through her hair, causing her to stir.

"Hey, baby." Sebastian said as he ran his fingers through her hair again.

"Hey you," Rylee said, half awake, "how do you feel?" She sat up and Sebastian dropped his hand. She tried to stretch her arms above her head but she winced a bit when she got fully stretched out.

"Eh. Could be better. Was gonna call a nurse but I can't find the button." Sebastian said matter of factly. Rylee felt bad that the button wasn't readily available for him. After following the cord from the wall, she reached back behind his pillow and pulled out the button, pushing it for him.

"Thanks love." Sebastian winced, leaning back into the pillow again, sucking in a breath through his teeth.

"What's your 1-10?" Rylee asked quietly.

"Like 8," Sebastian frowned, closing his eyes to try and relax and stop tensing his leg muscles.

"Anything I can do to help?" Rylee asked, patting his arm lightly.

Sebastian shook his head, he didn't realize he was holding his breath. "Nah, just hoping for some more morphine."

Rylee nodded as a nurse walked in, "Hello! I'm Lexi! I'll be your nurse for the rest of tonight and into tomorrow. How are you doing?" Lexi asked as she grabbed his chart and squiggled in a few numbers from the machines behind Sebastian.

"Okay...Legs definitely feelin' rough though."

"What would you say on a 1-10?" Lexi asked, starting to gently put pressure on different areas of Sebastian's leg.

"8." He stuttered out as he sucked air through his teeth again when Lexi touched down near his ankle, applying a little pressure.

"Ooof. Yeah. Let's get you hooked up." Lexi said as she left for a moment to grab a new small tube of morphine to attach to his IV. "This one will get you through tonight and then we'll see how you feel in the morning, alrighty? If you need anything, feel free to buzz me." She smiled, immediately hooking up the morphine drip.

"Thanks Lexi." Sebastian made sure to say before she left.

Lexi did a small two finger salute and winked as she left the room.

There were a few beats of silence and then Sebastian broke it, "Hey..."

"Hi," Rylee replied sweetly.

"Watcha reading?" Sebastian asked, trying to distract himself from the pain. "Haven't seen you with that one yet."

"Yeah I brought a different book. I had A Separate Peace in my hand this morning but it hit a little too close to home with the whole leg breaking thing," she stifled a small laugh, "But I needed a change of pace. So I found an oldie but a goodie. The Catcher in the Rye." She patted the book in her lap.

"Oh, good choice. I haven't read that one in a long time." Sebastian stated. His pain was starting to dissipate as was his focus.

"Want me to read some out loud? Just relax and listen?" Rylee suggested holding up the book.

"That sounds perfect." Sebastian said, closing his eyes to aid in simply listening.

Rylee flipped open her book to the very first page of chapter one. She was only a chapter in So she figured she could just start over.

"'If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.'"

Rylee continued to read through the first few chapters, as Sebastian dozed off, listening to her soothing voice fill the room, her thumb rubbing gentle, calming circles onto the back of his hand.

Soon enough he had drifted off to sleep and his hand became slack in hers on the side of the bed. She still kept her hand within his grip but continued reading to herself.

Rylee had eventually moved and fallen asleep on the small couch in the room, but woke up when Lexi came back to do her rounds around 4:00 am. They greeted one another quietly as Sebastian was still asleep and soon enough Lexi disappeared down the hall, but Rylee was still left wide awake.

She started scrolling through her phone and came across a brand new article, only a few hours old.

Early this morning, Sebastian Stan, 39, of Marvel fame, was seen making his way into Bellevue hospital alongside his girlfriend, Rylee Summers, 36.

While he has had this routine for a while now, sources were surprised that he didn't come back out in one or two hours like he normally would for what a source has said is therapy.

If you've been keeping up with our reports, a month or so ago, Stan was on set of the newest unnamed Captain America movie and was injured when his harness rigging failed. He fell 20 feet down onto the concrete floor of the set and had received many various injuries.

Over time, Stan has healed but his leg seems to still be causing him some strife. He originally left the hospital in a wheelchair but has upgraded to using crutches.

As of midnight, Stan has still not been seen outside the hospital so questions have started to arise.

We here at E!News hope Sebastian, as well as Rylee, have been doing well and that all is okay!

Rylee scoffed under her breath, "Tabloids really just can't leave people in peace. Seriously. It's a hospital. Leave people alone."

"Hmm?"

Rylee sat up, alarmed. She didn't realize she had spoken that loud to wake Sebastian up.

When she looked up from her phone, she saw Sebastian's half open eyes looking her way, though he still looked very much asleep.

"Nothing baby, go back to sleep."

"Mmkay." Sebastian mumbled quickly before Rylee heard a small snore come from his direction.

——————————

The clock in the hospital room struck 9:00 am and Sebastian and Rylee were now both wide awake and eating breakfast together as Dr. Singh walked in.

"Helllloooo Mr. Stan. Ms. Summers. How's your morning been?" Dr. Singh cheerily asked as he grabbed Sebastian's chart to look over.

Sebastian answered first, "Not too bad. Could've used some more syrup on these pancakes though." He tried to hide his smirk from Rylee.

"I asked if you wanted more! But you told me no!"

They all chuckled for a moment, "Well that's not something I can help with, I'm not a marriage counselor." Dr. Singh joked, "So, Sebastian, how's that 1-10 looking this morning?"

"Solid five." Sebastian answered quickly. Smack dab in the middle. Not pain free. But not extremely painful either.

"Id say that's pretty good for being less than 24 hours out of surgery. So, our plan for the rest of the day, is to aim for that five to naturally end up, eh, say a three. If we can get around there, you'll be able to head home. Sound good?"

"Sounds perfect." Sebastian smiled in response.

"Alright, give us a buzz if you need anything." Dr. Singh tapped the chart clipboard on the edge of the bed before he skillfully hung it, without looking, off the frame and walked away.

Soon enough, a few hours later, Dr. Singh had returned and given them the go ahead to get discharged from the hospital. "As nice as it was to meet you, I'd like to never see you again." Dr. Singh joked.

Sebastian laughed in return and said, "I'd honestly be okay with that." They shook hands and then Rylee did the same, thanking Dr. Singh.

Rylee had gotten a head start today and went down to get the car, parking it with the flashers on near the front door.

She pushed Sebastian in the wheelchair down to the front door, as per protocol. When they got to the door, he stood up and started using his crutches easily to make his way to the car. Rylee pushed the empty wheelchair back to the holding bay and walked out to join him. But of course, just as he got close to the car, a few paparazzi poked out from behind cars across the street.

Sebastian had honestly noticed them before they even fully got to the doors, but he was still a bit annoyed about it. He threw on a half-assed smile and a small wave from his crutch handle. He handed off his crutches to Rylee and she put them in the trunk as he slowly slid into the passenger seat.

"You doing okay?" Rylee asked as she turned on the car.

"Yeah, just wanna get out of here." Sebastian replied as he looked past Rylee out the window to the paparazzi still trying to take pictures.

Rylee followed his line of sight and realized what he meant. She nodded and put the car in drive, leaving the parking lot behind them.

After driving for ten minutes, Rylee stated, "we have a pit stop we need to make."

Sebastian looked over at her quizzically, "Does it involve getting out of the car?"

"Not for you, no." Rylee smiled.

A few minutes later, she pulled up to the curb right outside of Round Corner Cafe. "Ugh. Fuck Ry. You're the best." Sebastian sighed.

"I know," Rylee winked as she got out of the car and jogged inside, almost slipping on the slushy sidewalk.

A couple minutes passed by and Rylee came back to the car with two bags full of food.

"Holy shit, did you buy one of everything?" Sebastian laughed as she handed him the bags.

"Maybe," Rylee shrugged, "look." She pointed towards the cafe and Sebastian turned to look. Ken and Lisa were both in the front window waving frantically with a 'Get well soon' sign held up between them.

Sebastian's smile grew tenfold and he waved in return, signing thank you to them. "They're so great."

"They really are. When I put the order in Lisa tried giving it all to us for free. But I told her no, that was too much. So she let me pay, but of course she threw an extra bag of cookies in here right before I left." Rylee rolled her eyes with a soft smile.

"Yeah. Sounds about right." Sebastian laughed. "Thank you Ry." He leaned over and placed a soft kiss on her lips.

"Of course. Now let's go home, overindulge, and binge watch some movies."

"Lead the way." Sebastian tagged on as Rylee pulled the car back out into traffic and drove towards home, light snow falling as they went.
