《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》43 - You Are Home

"Are you ready to do this? You don't have to rush into getting your things." Sebastian asked wearily.
"Honestly I'd rather do it now than later. Rip off the metaphorical bandaid as they say." Rylee replied. Sebastian could tell she was nervous by how much she was starting to ramble.
They had gone back to his apartment after their meeting at Marvel when Rylee suggested they go to her place and pack up essentials. They changed into older clothes that they didn't mind getting ruined and headed downtown to her apartment.
They were parked outside of her building and she hesitated. She swallowed loudly and nodded, ready to go. She hadn't been back since that night and she didn't even know what Michael ended up doing to her place.
Sebastian got out, walked around the back of the car and took a few folded boxes out of the trunk. He continued around to open Rylee's door, grabbed her crutches for her and helped her out of the car. They walked to the door where Theo came barging through, enveloping Rylee in a hug, "Oh my God Rylee, I'm so glad you're okay. I'm so sorry about what happened. The police told us that man had broke in through a service entrance in the back so I never even saw him until they were bringing him down through the lobby...if I had known Rylee..."
"Thanks Theo, and yeah. But it's not your fault. You didn't know."
Theo nodded, "So are you back? Or?"
Rylee shook her head, "No, I'm actually going to be moving in with Sebastian," she smiled, looking up at him, seeing his lopsided smile in return.
"Oh, that's great! I'm sad to see you go, but that's awesome for you two!"
"Thanks Theo," Rylee smiled again, "we've gotta head upstairs and pack some things, but there will be movers coming sometime soon to sort out the rest, but I'll keep you updated."
"Sounds good, if there's any way I can help, let me know!"
"Will do, thanks" Rylee finished as they made it over to the elevators and up to her apartment.
As they got to her floor she froze when she saw her door, which was closed, but mangled. Police tape was still strewn across the door. Sebastian could sense her change quickly and placed his hand reassuringly on her back.
"You sure you wanna go in?"
Rylee looked up at him and nodded once, looking forward and making her way to the door, she stripped off the police tape and simply pushed on the door to open it. She was astounded at what she saw.
Her coffee table was flipped up and into the tv stand, the tv screen shattered. Various pictures and decor shoved to the floor, shattered or broken. Kitchen cabinets tore apart, food lying everywhere. Curtains ripped from half the windows. You would've thought a tornado had passed through. Each room had its own amount of destruction.

She shook off the gut wrenching feeling in the pit of her stomach and slowly made her way to her bedroom. Overall, this room wasn't as torn up as the others, probably because Michael hadn't spent as much time in here.
Sebastian set down the flattened boxes and began refolding them to be used. Rylee went to her dresser first and began unloading her clothes into a box as Sebastian wrapped bags around the hung clothes in her closet. They continued working slowly through the apartment, grabbing things Rylee knew for sure she definitely wanted to take with her. Her clothes, some books, picture albums. Sebastian slowly took things down to the car, filling the backseat as well as the trunk.
Rylee was surprised how few things she felt she needed. There were still a good amount of things left in the apartment but she just didn't seem to mind starting over fresh.
After a few hours, Rylee told Sebastian she was done and he nodded, grabbing the last box she loaded from the bathroom.
They both left the dilapidated apartment and went back down the elevator together, heading to Sebastian's car and back to their apartment.
By 8:00 that night all of Rylee's things from Sebastian's car were brought inside and slowly unpacked. It was funny how fast this apartment had become home to her. She'd been here so much the last few months that it didn't feel like much of a change, which helped relieve the stress of the day.
Rylee was kicked back on the couch in the living room, icing her ankle that she had propped up on the coffee table. Sebastian walked into the living room, sitting down next to her with two glasses of champagne.
"Oh, so fancy of you." Rylee chuckled as she took one of the glasses from his hands.
Sebastian threw his arm around Rylee's shoulder leaning her into him, "Figured it was a special occasion."
"Well...cheers." Rylee said as she clinked her glass with his and took a sip, feeling the bubbly drink slide down her throat.
"So, does it feel like home yet?" Sebastian asked quietly next to her, taking another drink from his glass.
"It's always felt like home. You are home." She snuggled into his side as they finished their glasses, the setting sun casting an orange glow through the apartment.
——————————
The next morning, Rylee woke up, wrapped snuggly in their blanket in bed, but she realized quickly that she was alone. She felt around for her glasses on the bedside table and also felt a piece of paper there. Once she slid her glasses on, she saw it was a note, scrawled out in familiar writing.
Morning Babe,
I didn't have the heart to wake you up, you looked so comfortable. Went to the gym with Don. Then I'm on set til 9:00. I'll call you later.

I love you ❤️
Her heart still fluttered at the words I love you coming from Sebastian. She always loved how he made her feel, even through a piece of paper.
She decided to send him a quick text, though he probably wouldn't see it for a while.
❤️
I love you.
——————————
Sebastian was sitting on set, chatting with Hayley and Scarlett when his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw the text from Rylee, smiling as he read it and replied.
"You two lovebirds make me wanna vomit...in the most loving way possible." Scarlett joked.
"But honestly though, I don't know if I've ever seen you this happy before Seb." Hayley added, simmering down Scarletts loving commentary.
"Yeah, Rylee's honestly the best. It still amazes me that she's been through so much the last half a decade and she's still always so positive. She's incredible."
Both girls nodded in agreement as Chris came strutting over, fully decked out in his worn out Captain America gear, and covered in fake scrapes and blood.
"Scarlett, Joe needs you for something." Chris said as he sat down amongst the group.
"Duty calls," Scarlett laughed as she hopped off her chair and went to find Joe.
"Did you guys hear about the new shooting schedule?"
"Ugh, no. What is it..." Hayley asked.
"They're basically all 12 hours minimum...for the next two weeks."
"Are you fuckin' serious? Ughhh." Sebastian exclaimed, fully annoyed. "Why!" He sunk down further into his chair, a hand sliding down his face.
"I dunno. Something about the scenes being long and taking more time to shoot than usual. Lots of monologue shit I guess."
"I'll fight someone," Sebastian stated, only half joking, "who am I meeting out by the dumpster?"
Chris chuckled, "Mr. Joe Russo himself."
"Ugh. Never mind." Sebastian laughed but frowned all at once. He hated long shooting weeks. He knew it was inevitable, but he always hoped they could avoid them.
Sebastian excused himself and went outside, blinded for a moment by the difference in the light from inside to outside. He leaned against the outside of the studio and dialed Rylee's number, hoping she'd answer. Luckily she did on the second ring.
"Hey you, how's it going?" Rylee said, chipper as can be.
"Hey, I'm alright, just got dealt an annoying hand at work." Sebastian said, running his hands absentmindedly through his hair before remembering he was still in costume and Erica from hair and make up would kill him.
"What kind of hand?" Rylee asked curiously.
Sebastian went on to explain how he would be stuck on set for the majority of the next two weeks and that he was annoyed he'd be away from her for so long, especially after everything that's happened.
"Well, bright side, we'll be ships passing in the night. When I go into work, you'll probably be coming home and Vice versa. Maybe we can still sneak in our dinner dates.
He nodded into the phone, forgetting he needed to speak because Rylee couldn't see him. "Yeah. God Ry, you're always so optimistic," Sebastian laughed lightly.
"It helps me get through the day," she laughed too. "Oh! And did you hear the news?"
"Oh god, what news?" Sebastian sighed.
"I'll text you the link so you can see it for yourself." Rylee tried not to laugh.
"Jeez. Alright, well I've gotta get going, I just got called back in, but I'll talk to you later, I love you."
"Love you too babe, have a good rest of the day."
They both hung up simultaneously as Sebastian went back inside, again, trying to readjust to the lighting in the studio compared to the bright sun outside.
He hoped she was right with her outlook on the next few weeks, cause he was trying to cling to that positivity any way he could.
His phone pinged with a notification, just as Rylee said, she sent him a link, of course from E!News. He clicked it open and read:
