Sebastian's heart dropped into his stomach as he read over Rylee's shoulder, feeling her tense up beside him. Chris also reading in surprise, at a loss for words.

"Well, fuck me, amiright?" Rylee said as she stood up and quickly made her way to the kitchen, a little unsteadily, to get another glass of wine, which she downed half of in one gulp.

"Ryles..." Sebastian stood up, following her into the kitchen.

"I'm fine. Iss great." Rylee slurred sarcastically, finishing the rest of her glass.

Sebastian walked up beside her and went to set his hand on her arm for comfort but she pulled it away, "Sebastian, don't."

He tried not to be hurt by that, but it was hard not to be. "Ry, we knew this was going to happen eventually."

"No, not like this. Michael did this shit." She pointed her finger accusingly into the empty air.

"What are you talking about? How do you know?" Sebastian was confused that she could be so confident it was him.

She rolled her eyes and turned around, pulling herself up to sit on the counter, she poured another glass. "I've never told anyone I'm from Squirrel Hill. I always jussay Pittsburgh, because nobody knows Squirrel Hill exists unless you're from there. You and Alexa are the only people in the New York City limits that know that. You two, and Michael..." she got winded after explaining that all so fast. It almost made her dizzy since she was now on her...sixth glass of wine? She couldn't remember.

She dove back in to finish her thought, "O'course he wants to fuck with us. He said he's read the articles about us. Why wouldn't he give them info? It only hurts us. Sounds like a fucking win for him."

Sebastian thought about it for a moment, it all made sense and so did the timing with Michael coming to the city.

"Wellll cheers to us I guess." Rylee swished around her glass as she held it up. "I wish we could've been the ones to tell everyone though. Michaels always gotta have his fingers in everything," Rylee looked down sadly towards her wine as she spun it around her glass.

Sebastian was even more sad for Rylee. She had deserved a fun night out of drinking, but it quickly turned into the five stages of grief instead.

Sebastian reached out towards her again, this time she let him put his hand on her arm. "Hey," he whispered, "why don't we head home and talk."

Rylee just stared down at her glass and nodded, a small sniffle escaping her nose.

"I'm gonna help them clean up a few things...How about you finish what's left of your glass. Okay?"

She nodded again, staying where she was on the counter.

He placed his hand gently on her cheek, rubbing his thumb there, kissed her forehead and left the kitchen, heading for the living room, where Alexa and Chris had remained to give them space.

"Hey, is she okay?" Alexa asked, clutching Chris' hand.

"I'm not quite sure yet. Overall...yeah?...i don't know," Sebastian ran his hands through his hair, "we're gonna get going and have a talk at home though. Thank you guys for having us over, and sorry for the bummer of an ending to the evening." Sebastian said with a sad smile as he started picking up some empty glasses.

"No apologizing," Alexa stated, "just let me know how everything goes. And we've got all this, don't worry about trying to clean up. Just go help our girl."

Sebastian nodded. He grabbed Rylee's purse off the couch and headed back to the kitchen, where he saw Rylee pouting, concentrating on the floor from her spot on the counter.

"Why the pout, love?" Sebastian asked gently.

"I'm afraid to get down. I'm gonna fall on my ass or my face." She answered, still pouting.

It took all of Sebastian's energy not to laugh at her answer. Even when she was sad she still had a sense of humor.

He closed the distance between them and offered her a hand. She took it and hopped down, wobbly on her feet. He put his arm around her waist to help keep her stable and they made their way out to the living room where they said their goodbyes and left for the evening.

Sebastian and Rylee arrived at his apartment around midnight. As soon as they got inside and the door closed Rylee turned into Sebastian's chest and immediately burst into tears.

Sebastian enveloped her in a hug, placing one of his hands on the back of her head to pull her in close.

"Iss not fair Seb. Whys he still get to control my life?" Rylee practically sobbed out, still reeling from the wine raging through her.

"I know, baby. It's not. I think tomorrow we should talk about what our next steps should be.." Sebastian stated quietly.

Rylee pushed away from his chest quickly, tears still streaming, but her eyes widened in shock, "W-what? Are you breaking up with me?"

"God no, Rylee. No, no, no." He pulled her back to his chest before she sobbed harder. "I meant next steps about Michael. I feel like we need to get some legal council about all this..figure out what we can do."

"Oh..." she sniffled quietly, relaxing back into his embrace.

"But I'd much rather have this discussion when you're sober. So, for now, what do you say we go camp out in bed, hmm?"

He felt her nod into his chest, "ah, but first..." he separated from her and padded over to the kitchen, grabbing two bottles of water. They made their way to his bedroom, all the while keeping his hand on her hip so Rylee didn't fall.

Rylee unceremoniously plopped onto the bed, getting comfortable quickly.

He brought over her contact case, and even without an ounce of sobriety, Rylee could still masterfully pluck out her contacts. He set them down alongside the water bottles on the counter along with some ibuprofen for later.

He laid down beside her, pushing some stray hair out of her face as she looked at him.

"I love you Seb," she whispered quietly into his chest as she curled up around him.

"I love you too, Ry." Sebastian replied quietly in return, placing a quick kiss on the top of her head.

Rylee fell asleep quickly in Sebastian's embrace, but Sebastian was too enveloped in thoughts about Michael and Rylee to sleep.

He still couldn't understand how anyone could do what Michael has done, to anyone, let alone Rylee. And to still be playing these mental games with her after years of being apart baffled him.

Sebastian turned his head to see that Rylee was very much asleep, and slowly and methodically slipped out of her grip to go to his office.

He spent the next two hours searching anything and everything he could that pertained to their situation. Court orders. PFAs. Harassment charges. The list went on.

Though it was well past 2:00 am at this point, he texted his lawyer, Jane, saying he'd like to speak with her sometime soon. He didn't expect a response from her until the morning, but he received one rather quickly.

Hi Sebastian. I am free at 3:00 tomorrow if you're available. Let me know.

Sounds good, thanks Jane.

He was going to wait until he talked to Rylee before he responded but he decided to just say yes anyway, in case Jane got busy, he wanted to be penciled in.

Sebastian got curious and decided to search Pennsylvania's docket system for Michael's charges. He found him quickly and stared at his attached mugshot. He realized then that he had no idea what the man looked like until now.

He had light brown hair, almost blond, with blue eyes. In the picture he had scruff for a beard. He had a stocky build, and his bodily description said he was 6'0", 240 pounds.

He was surprised to say the least. Physically, Michael was practically the exact opposite of himself. Well. At least now he knew what he looked like in case he ever saw him somewhere.

He looked at the time on his phone and saw it was now 3:00 am. Shit. At least he didn't have to work tomorrow.

He decided to close up his laptop and head back to the bedroom. Rylee was still fast asleep, but she was clutching his pillow with a death grip. He slowly pulled it out from her grasp, causing her to shuffle and turn over, facing away from him.

He slid under the covers with her and threw his arm over her, scooting in closer. She subconsciously backed up to make herself a little spoon in her sleep, which made him laugh lightly.

An hour later Sebastian was awoken by quick movements on the bed. He slowly opened his eyes to see Rylee, staring at him bleary eyed and backed up away from him onto the edge of the bed. She looked utterly terrified.

"Rylee? What're yo-"

"Get away from me!"

Sebastian started to panic himself, fully awake now. What was going on?

"Don't touch me! Stay back! Michael stop!"

Sebastian's heart sunk at her words, "Ryles. It's Sebastian. You've gotta wake up..." he said as he reached out slowly.

"No, stop, stop!" She uttered quickly, trying to back further away, but now she had no more mattress, and ended up falling off the bed, crashing into the bedside table.

"Shit, Rylee!" Sebastian cursed as he crawled across the bed to see Rylee crumpled onto the floor, but now she was fast asleep, eyes closed, as if nothing had happened.

He turned on the bedside lamp and hopped off the mattress onto the floor beside her. He quickly noticed a small puddle of blood forming below her arm.

"Rylee, Ry! Wake up!" He shook her gently, starting to turn her so he could see where she got hurt.

She started waking up, eyes opening slowly. She was surprised to see Sebastian hovering over her, looking panicked? Why did he look so worried?

He went to move her arm that was propped awkwardly against the side tables leg and pulled his hand back to see it covered in blood. He turned her arm over and saw she had about a five inch long gash in the back of her forearm, causing his eyes to widen in alarm.

He looked around quickly for something to stop the bleeding, but couldn't find anything close so he pulled off his shirt and wrapped it tightly around her arm.

Sebastian noticed that Rylee seemed like she was actually awake now, but looked extremely lost, "Rylee, baby. Come on, we've gotta get to the bathroom."

"Wahs going on?" She was not only tired and confused, but she still had a decent amount of the wine tinging her system.

"I think you were having a night terror...you fell off the bed..." he said as he guided her to the bathroom across the hall, sitting her gently on the toilet seat.

Rylee still seemed bewildered. He put her own hand on top of his shirt on her arm to hold pressure as he tried to dig through his cabinets for gauze. She was curious and peeled the shirt off her arm to witness the large portion of her arm bleeding profusely. She looked at it curiously, the alcohol still in her system not fully allowing her to feel the pain.

He finally found some and turned around to see her staring at the wound. "Rylee it'll be okay. I'm gonna wrap this up tight but you're going to need stitches." He was trying to sound calm, but he was freaking out on the inside.

"Okay." Was all Rylee had to say as she watched him methodically wrap the gauze and tape around her arm.

He quickly finished wrapping her arm and tugged her up off the toilet. She seemed much more balanced now than she had been a few hours ago.

"Alright...we're going to head to the hospital, okay?"

Rylee nodded as she watched him dip quickly back into the bedroom for another shirt and came back to help her out to the living room to slip on shoes and head out the door.

——————————

While Rylee was being given her stitches, Sebastian had explained to both Rylee and the doctor what happened.

The doctor nodded, listened and agreed that the night terror was probably brought on by Rylee's recent and past traumas as well as having the alcohol add to the severity.

A few hours later, with care instructions and an appointment to come back in a week to remove the stitches, they were both walking out of the hospital together, exhausted.

When they got to Sebastian's car he sat in his seat, both hands on the steering wheel, staring for a moment. This was the first time he really got to sit down and process what happened.

Rylee placed her hand on his arm, "I'm sorry." She said simply, putting her hands back into her lap, staring at them.

He looked over at her, brows furrowed in confusion, "You have no reason to apologize.."

"Yes I do. I can't imagine how hard all this is for you...not just tonight...but this whole situation...I can understand if you want out..I just hop-"

"Rylee. I don't want out. I've never wanted out. I love you. And yes, this situation is hard, but it's something we can get through, together."

"I love you Seb." She sighed, leaning onto his shoulder as he began to drive, a tear sliding down her cheek.

He placed his hand on her thigh as they pulled out of the lot, rubbing his thumb along her leg. The sun was starting to rise over the city sky line, a beautiful hue of yellows and oranges dancing between the buildings.
