《Actions Speak Louder Than Fortune Cookies》20 - On Another Planet

Sebastian's alarm went off at 6:00 am as per usual and he was fucking dragging. He was tempted to snooze his alarms until 8:00 but Don would murder him if he missed the gym. Especially on the day Don's actually physically supposed to be there.

He had rolled out of bed and did the absolute minimum possible. He brushed his teeth, ran his fingers through his bed head, and changed into a black t-shirt and green gym shorts with his usual black nikes.

He packed his black backpack with a set of clothes for later, his scripts, and other small items he needed for the rest of the day. He was going to be stuck on set and in meetings for the majority of the day. He needed to make sure he could get coffee before he got to work or he'd be double dead. It was absolutely worth staying up later last night but man...he was feeling it.

He made his way to the gym and worked with Don until 8:00. Don always kicked his ass when he was there, which he was thankful for because he definitely kept him on his A game...but again he was feeling it.

"Dude. What's on your mind today? You seem like you're on another planet ..." Don said, taking a swig from his water bottle as they cleaned up.

"Just didn't get much sleep last night." Sebastian said, catching his breath sitting on the weight bench with his elbows on his knees. He was sweating through and through and could feel it dripping down his face. He pulled the bottom of his shirt up to try to wipe off the excess but he didn't feel like it helped.

"Well, good work today man. And work on that sleep. It's important. I'll see you Friday." He clapped him on the back and headed across the gym to talk to another client.

Sebastian gave him a double finger wave as he watched him walk away. He stood up and stretched his arms above his head, earning a nice solid back crack in return.

He cleaned up in the showers and changed into a white t-shirt and medium wash blue jeans. He had put in his headphones before he walked out the door, giving a nod of thanks to the man at the reception desk.

He hopped in his car, miraculously right outside the main door of the gym and made his way to the Round Corner Cafe. He ordered his black coffee with oat milk and then quickly tacked on Rylee's usual order of a cold brew.

While he chatted with Lisa behind the counter he shot Rylee a text, hoping she was awake.

Good morning beautiful

He looked at the time and contemplated whether or not she'd actually be awake. It was around 8:30. He scrolled through Instagram as he waited for their drinks and he was surprised to get a notification from her.

Good morning 😄

What're you up to so early?

I woke up at like 8:00 and couldn't go back to sleep... I'm glad I don't have to be anywhere today. I'd be doomed.

Ugh I know. I've gotta be at a meeting at 9:00.

Last night was worth dragging my ass through today though 😏

For sure. 😉 definitely worth it

So. I may have a surprise for you and I'd like to get it to you before my meeting. Any way you can meet me outside your apartment in like ten minutes?

Sure thing ☺️

Lisa handed him both coffees and he thanked her greatly, wishing her a nice day and he made his way back out to his car in the already hot air of June in New York. He didn't care how hot it was outside. He would always need coffee to get through his days. He was always pretty good at nursing it through the mornings and making it last a while.

Ten or so minutes later he went to park near Rylee's apartment but got stuck parking down around the next corner. He didn't mind. He grabbed her coffee and started his trek to see her, leaving his headphones in but muted. As he cut around the corner he saw her sitting on the bench outside the main doors of her apartment building. Her eyes lit up as she saw him walking closer, with her usual coffee order in hand.

"Oh my god. You really are the best. Thank you." Rylee said as she held the drink in her hands and slowly sipped from it, feeling the coffee course through her veins.

"Oh I know," he winked. "You're welcome. I figured if I needed it, you probably did too.. I hate that I've gotta drop this and run, but I've got a meeting in likeeee five minutes." He laughed, looking at the time.

"Okay, go scoot the boot. Have a good day!"

"You too, doll." He smiled again.

Sebastian gave her a deep kiss laced with so many words he didn't have the time to say.

He made his way back to his car and made it to his meeting a few minutes late, but he decided it was worth it.

——————————

Sebastian didn't get out of work until 9:00 that night. He was wiped, but in the middle of the day he was texting Rylee and she asked him to come over on his way home when he was done. At least he didn't have to be back in until noon tomorrow.

As soon as they were done, he padded his way out the door, yawning all the way to his car. Luckily, Rylee only lived a few minutes away so he got their pretty quickly. He was also lucky to get a spot right out front of her apartment. He praised whatever parking gods blessed him today.

He greeted Theo as he was buzzed in and made his way up to Rylee's apartment, swiftly knocking on her door. She opened it and saw his lazy smile spread across his face.

"Hey you," she smiled back, hugging him and giving him a peck on the cheek, "you alright?

"Mhmmm." He said, leaning into her shoulder smelling her comforting strawberry shampoo as he rested his head there. "Juss tired." He wrapped his arms around her.

"Come 'ere," she beckoned as she tugged him to the couch, and pulled him down, laying his head in her lap. She scratched her fingernails across his scalp, playing with his hair.

"Mmmm." Sebastian hummed lightly with his eyes closed.

"How about we just relax right here for the evening." She said as she continued running her fingers through his soft brown hair.

"Mm. Sounds good." He replied simply, losing focus.

She smirked at him as she turned on Netflix, she knew he wouldn't be up long, if he was honestly even awake now. He was practically sleep walking through the door when he got there.

Rylee clicked through her queue and decided to turn on a serial killer documentary. Something about Jeffery Dahmer. She was such a sucker for these shows.

Before she even hit play, she could hear small soft snores coming from her lap. She looked down to see Sebastian looking more relaxed than she had ever seen him. She did feel bad that he was so exhausted though. He had a twelve hour work day and a gym session with Don to start the day. She didn't blame him for being tired...It's hard to go from having weeks off to diving right into a work week like that, especially on like three hours of sleep.

She continued gently raking her hand through his hair as he dozed in her lap. He had mentioned earlier that he didn't need to be anywhere until noon tomorrow, so she was going to avoid waking him up if she could.

Over the next hour or two, Rylee occasionally felt him twitch in her lap during her show, but overall he was dead to the world.

——————————

At around midnight, the documentary played a loud scream, causing not only her to jump a little, but also sending Sebastian sitting straight up looking around, bleary eyed and completely lost.

He turned his head to look with shocked eyes towards Rylee.

"Are you okay?" He asked her, looking her over but confused that she seemed unharmed.

"Yeah, sorry. My show had a jump scare..."

Sebastian still seemed confused but accepted her response. He was still sitting up but she was afraid he might just lean over and fall right off the couch at any minute.

"How about," she turned off the tv, "we go lay down." She stood up offering him her hand to stand up, which he took without question, nodding, still very much half asleep.

They walked back to her bedroom where he immediately plopped onto the bed, sticking out his arm, which she quickly realized meant that he wanted her to come cuddle in. She did so easily, putting her back to his chest, he pulled her in close, locking her in place with his arm as he buried his face back into her strawberry scented hair.

"G'night Ry," Sebastian said, basically back to sleep already.

"Night Seb," she whispered back.
