《Snatched》Chapter Part 51

"Damn," you look up at the building in front of you "it's a lot bigger than I thought."
You heard a snort from behind you "That's what she said."
"Morning Denki" you responded without turning around. "Excited for the dorms?"
"Hell yeah. Living at home is boring."
You grinned at him glancing around at your class all gathered in front of your new dorms "Well living with this group will be anything but boring."
"That's exactly what I'm worried about." Iida suddenly appeared in front of you "I will have to implement a strict set of rules to keep the dorms as organized as possible."
"Good luck with that." You snorted
"Alright everyone listen up." Aizawa called your class to attention "We have a few things to discuss. Firstly welcome to your new dorms, it took a lot of work convincing all your parents but be assured this is the safest place for you."
"My parents almost didn't let me come." Hagakure sighed
"Same here." Jiro added "All Might had to give them an entire speech."
You felt sort of cheated that you didn't get an All-Might-Assured safety speech.
Your uncle cleared his throat "That aside, the most important issue here is your provisional licenses that you originally went to the training camp to acquire."
You stiffened
Here it comes
"Yaoyarozu, Todoroki, Midoriya, Iida. You five were the ones that broke the rules and went to rescue Y/n and Bakugo that night. The rest of you were at least aware of their plan. If it weren't for All Might's retirement I would expel everyone here except for Bakugo, Y/n, Jiro and Hagakure. You must all live as model students to regain our trust. That's all."
You were in utter disbelief "What kind of utter fucking bullshit-"
Before you could continue Momo grabbed your hand and shook her head. You would have loved to chew your uncle out but it wasn't your fight so you shut it and seethed with anger...in your head.
I CAN'T FUCKING BELIVE THIS! EXPELLED FOR DOING THE MOST HEROIC THING ANY OF US HAVE EVER DONE?! THE REST OF THEM EXPELLED FOR PROTECTING THEIR PEOPLE?! What sort of fucked up god dammed society do we have to live in that the so called 'law' prevents people's lives from being saved. If they hadn't come for us Kat and I would likely be fucking dead. NOT TO MENTION that they never would have had to come themselves if the pro heroes were so fucking INCOMPETENT!
You continued to rant to yourself in your head not noticing Katsuki repaying Krisihima for the money he spent saving you and short circuiting Denki to raise the spirits of the class.
By the time you had calmed down, your class was allowed inside the building and were given the rundown on how everything worked. Girls are on the right side of the building and boys are on the left. The first floor is a common area with the kitchen showers and laundry room. The rooms started on the next floor and there were a couple people on each floor. You were given the rest of the day to unpack so you piled into the elevator along with Ochaco and Mina. Your rooms were on the top floor which you were pretty happy about.
"How about we do something together as a class once everyone is unpacked?" Momo said as you stepped out onto your new floor
"That's a great idea!" Mina squealed
"Maybe we can do something related to our rooms." you suggested
Advertisement
Mina gasped "Oh yeah! We can go around and see who has the coolest room! I'll text the group chat to meet downstairs at 6."
She ran to her room eager to get unpacked to show off to the class. Momo gave you a smile and did the same.
You opened the door that had your name on it and looked around the room that was going to be your new home for the next who-knows-how-long . It wasn't as big as your apartment but it was nice and cozy. You had a balcony that looked out on the forest training ground of UA's campus and your desk, shelves and bed had already been assembled.
You stepped out onto the balcony and looked around. You couldn't help but notice that the railing was a little low especially considering how long of a fall it would be if you slipped but you wouldn't have to worry about that, right?
I might as well get started unpacking
You slid on your headphones and opened the box closest to you and started pulling things out. You were about half way done unpacking when you came across a picture frame you hadn't seen in a long time.
You, your mom and your dad standing outside your old house.
You dropped onto your bed examining the happy faces of a version of you you didn't recognize and the parents who had already started fading in your memory. The image provoking a familiar pang in your heart.
You hadn't thought about your parents in a while. The realization pained you more than you expected. You had been so young when they died but they had lived vividly in your mind for so long.
What changed?
The answer to your question was clear but you didn't want to admit it. You didn't need them anymore, you had new people now. The memories of them that had kept you going for all those years were being replaced by ones of your friends, of Shota, of your teachers.
I wonder if they'd be proud of me?
The sudden thought surprised you but you already knew the answer.
Of course they fucking would be.
You had improved your quirk, survived multiple villain attacks, made a whole bunch of new friends and were still going strong. You were going to keep making them proud no matter what.
You smiled back at your younger self and carefully placed the picture on your nightstand beside the one of you and Shota and then went back to unpacking.
Just as you finished placing the last of your stuffed animals on your bed you got a text from Mina saying that you needed to "get your slow ass downstairs." You checked the time and realized that you were running late for the meeting time you had decided on.
Pulling a hoodie on you pulled open the door and stumbled into the hallway only to slam your face into someone.
"I feel like this is just becoming a running theme in my life" you grumbled pulling back to see who the roadblock was this time.
"Sorry Y/n I was sent up to get you." Shoji rubbed the back of his neck apologetically
"No worries Shoji." you smiled "ready to have your room exposed to the eyes of the class?"
"I'm actually a bit nervous, my room isn't anything special."
"As long as it works for you there's no need to worry about it." you assured him "And if anyone says anything mean I'll beat them up for you."
He chuckled "Thanks Y/n."

The two of you took the elevator down to the first floor and joined up with the rest of your class who seemed to be waiting for you.
"There you are Y/n!" Kirishima waved, "I think that's everyone now."
"Not just yet," Mina rushed over to you and started whispering rapidly "Y/n we need you to convince Todoroki to join the competition. Us girls are dying to see what his room is like."
You gave her a blank stare.
"Don't you want to know what a dark and mysterious hot guy like him is like when he's alone?" Hakagure appeared out of thin air.
You, for a matter of fact, knew exactly what he was like when he was alone. Exactly the same as he is around people... but you did want to see what he did with his room.
You gave in and walked over to Shoto who was sitting on the couch reading amidst the chaos of the common area.
"Heyyy Sho-" you started
"No."
You huffed at his quick response and grabbed him by the arm. "Come onnnn Sho it'll be fun." You used all your weight to drag him towards the group. "Don't you want to show off your room?"
"Not really."
"Please?" you gave him your best puppy dog eyes.
He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face "Fine."
"Yes!" You pumped your fist in excitement "Shoto's joining guys!"
"Oooh we'll finally get to see the room of the mysterious Shoto Todoroki." Sero teased
"It's too bad Bakugo isn't joining us." Mina sighed "I want to see what he's got in his room. Grenades? Pictures of himself? Anger management meds?"
"If we wanted him to join we would have had to start earlier." As soon as you said it you saw Izuku frantically shaking his head from the corner of your eye.
"Wait, why?" Denki asked and you suddenly realized why Izuku was shaking his head
You would be blasted into another dimension if Katsuki found out you told the class he went to bed at 8 every night.
You gulped "...because he um, he you see... Izuku, you tell them!"
Your whole class turned to Izuku who gave you a death glare before holding his hands up in defense and stuttering out something about training at night.
The class seemed satisfied by that and Kirishima opted to start with his room since it was the closest.
"Wait!" Izuku yelled but he was too late, his door was opened and thousands of dollars in All Might merch was exposed to the class.
You burst out laughing, the walls were covered floor to ceiling with pictures of All Might's face and every surface held a figurine.
"You're such a fanboy!" Uraraka teased
"Well I admire him." Izuku muttered turning bright red "This is so embarrassing... Y/n stop laughing!"
You managed to stop cackling as you came up to Tokoyami's room. He tried to stop everyone from going in, but Mina and Hagkure pushed him out of the way and opened the door to reveal a pitch black room full of candles, skulls and other cultish things.
"So this is how boys like to decorate?" Ochaco speculated
"I think it's cool. It reminds me of my middle school emo phase." you added, inspecting a chain with a cross on it.
"You had a middle school emo phase too Y/n?" Kirishima perked up
Before you could get too into your shared cringe middle school experience, Tokoyami kicked you all out, insisting you move on to the next room.
Aoyama's room was next, where you went partially blind as soon as you opened the door due to the insane amount of mirrors and light. The girls had expected as much and quickly moved on before Aoyama could start ranting about how 'magnifique' he was.
Ochaco started walking towards the next room "This is turning out to be really fun! The last person on this floor is..."
Mineta poked his head out of his door "Hey come on in girls."
ew
"Next floor everyone." you instructed as the group abruptly turned around
Ojiro's room was next and he got mildly roasted for having no decorations but you could understand the need for a relaxing minimal place so you gave him a covert thumbs up.
Iida's room was chalk full of books and...
"A wall of glasses?" you almost choked on your laughter looking at the several shelves full of identical glasses.
"Of course! I expect them all to be destroyed during training!" he justified
You picked up a pair and adjusted them on your face, surprisingly you could see better than you could before.
That's vaguely worrisome
You turned to your group "How do I look guys?"
They seemed stunned for a moment before Sero spoke up "Like a hot librarian."
That line earned him two punches from Kiri and Denki, a series of viscous glares, the beginning of a lecture about sexualizing women in academia from Tenya, and a chorus of giggles from the girls.
"Thanks Sero." you laughed returning the glasses to their original position
You then moved on to Denki's room which looked very...Denki.
"This is the store in the mall I would avoid." Jiro said, looking primarily at the cheetah print bed cover and tiger print drapes.
Can't say I disagree
Koda's room was your absolute favorite so far.
"You have a rabbit!" you squealed aweing at the adorable white rabbit sitting on the carpet. After getting his permission, you and the other girls got to pet it and play with it while the boys bitched about being judged in the hall.
"It's the girls' turn to get their rooms judged." Denki huffed
"Sure! Sounds good to me!" Mina bounced into the hall "But we've got to decide on some ground rules if we're making this a real competition."
Jiro seemed taken aback "Wait we're actually doing this?"
"Are we doing best taste or overall coolest?" Mina continued paying her no mind
"Let's go with a combination of both?" Ochako suggested
Everyone decided that was the best idea and to continue with the boys rooms before moving on to the girls.
"Alright Kirishima you're up!" Hakakure cheered as he opened his door.
"You might not get what I'm going for here but let me welcome you to..." he revealed his room to the class dramatically "my den of manliness!"
His room was just as he said, a den of manliness. Lets of weights and posters were strewn around the floor and walls.
Mina and Hagakure muttered something about it being a huge red flag and some of the boys came in to admire his figurine collection but you made a beeline for the heaviest weight you could find.
"Think I can lift it Kiri?" you bent down to the heavy looking dumbbell and prepared yourself to show off your epic strength.
"Not to doubt you Y/n" he scratched the back of his neck "but I really doubt that."
"Oh ho ho Kiri you doubt my strength do you? Just watch this!" You pulled with all your strength expecting an easy lift but nothing happened.
Kirshima looked at you sympathetically "Struggling there Y/n?"
"ha ha" you laughed nervously adjusting your grip to try with both hands "That was a fluke. I meant- watch this!"
Again the weight wouldn't budge. You put all your weight into yanking the stupid dumbbell off the ground to no avail.
"Not to impose on your display of strength but I don't want you hurting yourself." Kirishima walked over and picked up the weight for you with one hand.
You blinked at him "What on earth are they feeding you?"
He chuckled, giving you a gentle head pat "Nothing special but I've been training a ton since the training camp. I'm not going to let something like that happen ever again."
You moved on to the next room with a newfound respect for and slight fear of Kirishima.
You finished looking through the boys' rooms giving Shoji a smile when it was his turn and gawking and Shoto when you found out he completely remodeled his room. You then went to the girls side and looked through everyone's rooms. Ochaco's was normal, Jiros was cool, Mina's almost gave you a seizure and Momo's made you wish you were as rich as her.
Finally you came to the last room, yours.
"Don't get your hopes up guys, my room isn't anything special." you told them opening your door to reveal your mostly unpacked room. It wasn't anything crazy so you didn't think people would be interested but everyone came in and looked around nonetheless.
"It's very you Y/n." Momo said, smiling at the pile of stuffed animals on your bed.
"Awe this picture is so cute!" Hagakure was looking at a picture you had on your dresser. "It's little you, Todoroki, and-who's this?"
You knew the picture she was referencing and looked over to Shoto who was looking at it over her shoulder.
"My brother," he replied plainly, "Touya."
You still hadn't told him about 'Dabi' so you were thankful when a loud noise quickly drew everyone's attention to Tenya and Mineta.
"Mineta, that is completely unacceptable behavior!" Tenya scolded Mineta as he rubbed an already forming bump on his head from where Tenya must have smacked him.
"What's going on?" Kirishima asked the question everyone was wondering.
"Mineta was attempting to find Y/n's undergarments by rummaging through her drawers!" Tenya declared, not knowing he had just signed Mineta's death warrant.
A sinister air filled the room "Wait guys please, that's not what I was doing!" Mineta pleaded backing out the door.
That was the end of the room tours.
Mineta would later be found wrapped in tape in the dumpster half frozen, jolting with electricity, and very beat up.
After eating dinner with the people who hadn't raced after Mineta and deciding that tokoyami won for coolest room, you finally got to head to bed and go to sleep.
You fell onto your mattress and rolled over to look out the window. You gasped, it was only a flash but you saw a figure on your balcony staring right back at you. You jumped out of bed and threw open the sliding door.
Nobody.
The only thing on your porch was the chair you had put there while unpacking.
"Hello?" you called out into the night
When you got no response you leaned over the railing to look at the balconies below you. They were all empty except for one.
Aoyama sat on Izuku's balcony holding what looked like a plate of cheese in his hand.
Typical
Despite the comfort of knowing someone else was up, there was no way Aoyama could have been the one on your balcony, it was too high up. You leaned further over the railing trying to see if there was someone on the ground but you had been right; the railing was much too low and you had just leaned much too far.
You didn't even get a chance to scream before your feet left the ground. Your eyes widened. Time seemed to move in slow motion as you rapidly tipped over the railing, grappling for something to hang on to knowing you wouldn't survive the fall.
Before you could topple from your balcony a hand gripped the back of your shirt and yanked you back to safety.
You fell harshly on your back and whipped around to see who had saved you.
Nobody.
Your heart raced. You had almost died and had been likely saved by the same person who was at your window. Despite the fact the person had saved your life you couldn't help but get a sinister feeling. You ran inside and slammed the sliding door shut. Covering the glass with your curtains.
What the hell.
***
Dabi sat on the roof of the UA dormitory heart pounding.
That was almost it. She had almost fallen.
"Shit shit shit." he muttered to himself
He had not only been seen but he'd made contact with her. He just wanted to check up on her after she had saved him, but he couldn't not grab her when she almost toppled off the balcony looking for him. He was going to be murdered by Shigaraki.
Well it was too late now. She'd tell the stupid hero's if he didn't do something.
He hastily pulled out his phone and typed in her number, something he'd done a million times but this time he would actually send the message. He hoped it was the same as it used to be. He thought for a moment about what to say before chuckling to himself and sending the message.
He waited for a moment, contemplating keeping contact with her but then remember the face she made when she realized who he was and what he'd done. He crushed his phone in his hand and stepped back through Kurogiri's portal, preparing for a long lecture and cursing her for being so god damned clumsy.
***
You paced back and forth in your room.
Should I go tell Aizawa? What if it was a villain? Why would a villain have saved me though? Oh god what do I do?
You were about to run out the door in search of the nearest teacher when your phone buzzed. You picked it up and saw a message from an unknown number.

But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here
