"You know what time it is everybody!" Pixie-bob exclaimed "It's time for a totally awesome test of courage!"

After you had finished training and made dinner, both class 1-A and class 1-B got to take part in a test of courage, well everyone except for the remedial course.

"I kind of feel bad, don't you think Aizawa is being too harsh?" you asked Katsuki who was standing beside you. "I mean they've been working just as hard as the rest of us, they should get a break."

"They made stupid decisions and now they have to pay the price."

You deadpanned.

Why did I even ask

Mandalay came up behind you "I feel bad as well, they seemed really excited and it would be a good activity, especially since it's the remedial course."

"Oh hey Mandalay, where were you earlier? I was looking for you at dinner to ask if I could try out your quirk but I couldn't find you."

"I just bought Kota dinner, he still insists on spending his time in his secret stop at the edge of the camp. I guess that's just how he detaches himself. You can try out my quirk tomorrow if you'd like."

"Sure, I'm kind of worried about Kota though. Won't he get lost?"

"Don't worry about that, he knows his way around here and even if he does lose his way he's just west of the cafeteria so he's close enough to hear us. He's actually just up on that cliff over there right now."

"Not to seem rude or anything but isn't his spot supposed to be a secret?"

"I thought you should know, maybe you could go up there and talk to him after this, he seems to really like you."

"You think so?"

"Okay so," Pixie-bob got everyone's attention "Class B is going to start out as our scarers, when they're in place, class A will leave in pairs every three minutes. There are tags with your names on them at the far end of the route, your goal is to collect those! Now, those who are doing the scaring aren't allowed to make physical contact, use your quirks to terrify the others!"

Who needs a quirk when you have a face like Katsuki's

You giggled at your own thought, earning slightly confused looks from the people around you.

"The winners are the creative students who make the most people piss their pants!" Tiger yelled way too enthusiastically.

"Thanks for that visual." you muttered

"Alright! Everyone draw to see who your partner will be!"

Everyone got into their groups and waited nervously for their turn to test their courage. You ended up being alone but after refusing to go in by yourself, you got put into a group of three with Katsuki and Shoto.

Mineta walked over to you and you recoiled at the sight of him "Y/n, if you're too scared to go in alone you should be in my group. Feel free to jump into my arms if you need comforting."

You grimaced "I will literally crush you, so I insist, please do me a favor and fuck off."

"We could have been perfect together!" he cried as Tenya dragged him away

"I apologize on his behalf Y/n."

"Thanks Tenya."

You glared at the little grape child as he was dragged away.

"How fucking annoying." Katsuki spat

"Agreed." You sighed "You guys, I'm slightly worried."

"Y/n if you're scared you can hold my hand." Shoto raised his hand out to you.

You blinked

That was bold.

Katsuki looked like he was going to blow a fuse "WHY YOU LITT-"

You raised your hands in the air to stop him before he could go off "No need to yell, no need to shout, no need to have a riot, just take a deep breath-"

He shoved you slightly "Shut up idiot."

"Wow I'm impressed that actually worked... also, just so you know, I'm not scared for me, I'm scared for them. I have noticed recently that I have strangely fast reflexes and I don't want to accidentally punch someone."

"Then don't punch them."

"Thank you Shoto, very helpful."

"Alright, next group you're up!"

You and your two companions started walking into the forest, it was dead silent other than the frequent and loud screams of your classmates.

"There must be something pretty terrifying up there." you shivered

"It's probably just one of the class B kids in a stupid costume." Katsuki groaned

Just then you heard something rustle the leaves to you right.

You jumped and grabbed the hands of the boys on either side of you.

"I swear to god if someone jumps out at me they're dead."

Shoto, who was standing to your right, inspected the trees. "It was just the wind."

"Oh..." you suddenly noticed how tightly you were grasping their hands. "Sorry, I freaked out for a second there." You tried to pull your hands back but both of the boys held on tightly.

You were speechless, but you couldn't say you wanted them to let go. For some reason just holding their hands made you feel safe.

Katsuki's head was turned away from you, obviously not wanting to make eye contact, while you could feel Shoto's gaze on your face as you stared at your feet. Your heart was beating loudly in your ears but luckily it was cold enough to dismiss the color of your cheeks.

Calm down Y/n you're overthinking it.

You walked a bit farther and you finally started to loosen up again and regain your confidence.

"I'm surprised, I thought this would be a lot more scarEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Suddenly a girl's head popped out of the ground right in front of your group, you let out a scream and wasted no time in landing a strong kick to her face. As soon as you realized what you did you dropped to your knees in front of her.

"Oh my god I am so sorry! Are you okay?! Is your nose bleeding!? Can someone call a teacher!"

The girl turned out to be fine, with just a bit of a bruise on her forehead, the rest of the 1-B kids ushered you away before the next group came while you apologized profusely.

You walked in silence while you sulked.

"You didn't punch anyone." Shoto offered

You glared at him "I kicked her in the head."

...

"Nice head shot Y/n."

"Shut up Katsuki."

You abruptly stopped when you smelled something off.

"Guys do you smell that?"

The three of you immediately knew what it was, "It's smoke."

In the distance you could see a huge cloud of smoke and another purple gas heading quickly towards you.

Suddenly Mandalay's voice played in your head "Everyone!"

"That must be her quirk."

"Two villains attacked us. It's possible that there are more coming, everyone return to camp immediately, we're regrouping. Tiger and I are dealing with the two here but there are probably more. Do engage any enemies!"

Her message stopped and the three of you just stood there.

"How the fuck did they find us?!"

"That's not important right now, we need to regroup and get our orders."

"Look at you icy-hot, trying to tell me what the fuck to do." Katsuki growled

"Now is not the time Katsuki!"

"Do I look like a fucking kid to you?!"

You froze

"Holy shit."

"What is it Y/n?" Shoto looked to you worriedly

"Kota is still out there alone."

"What? The kid from the other day?" Katsuki asked

You nodded, suddenly the strange purple gas you saw before started seeping towards you.

"The hell is that?" Katsuki walked towards it but you pulled him back

"Don't breathe it in!" you covered your mouth with your sleeve

"Someone else will get him, we need to get back now." Shoto instructed covering his mouth quickly

"I can't!" you yelled through your shirt "There's a good chance I'm the only other person who knows where he is, Mandalay can't get to him and I can't leave him!"

"He'll be fucking fine!"

The smoke started getting thicker and your vision started getting blurry.

It wasn't even a question, you had to make sure he was safe. That's what a hero would do.

"I'll meet you at camp! Tell them I went to find Kota! Don't die on me!"

"Y/N!"

You turned and ran west, towards the cliff at the edge of the valley, if they tried to follow you they would get lost in the gas and have to go back so you didn't worry about them and kept running.

I hope he's okay! If I get there and he's gone I'll just assume that he's back at the camp. Yeah... nothing bad would happen to him all the way up there. Nothing at all-

You saw a flash of black and white in the corner of your eye and skidded to a stop.

I don't have time for this!

"Hello?" you called

...

"Hello?" someone responded

"Umm... are you a villain?" you asked carefully

Suddenly a guy in a black and white Deadpool-like costume stepped out onto the path in front of you

"Yep sure am! Are you a student at UA?"

"Yeah..."

", is your name Y/n L/n?"

Shigaraki?

"Yes actually... This is just a hunch but are you with the League of Villains?"

"Hell yeah I'm with the Vanguard Action Squad! ."

"It's nice to meet you, unless you decide to try and kill me, that wouldn't be nice... also, I really like your mask, it suits you."

"Thank you!

You smiled knowing this was a villain you didn't have to beat with brute force "Since I'm on the list you probably want something with me but I've got to go check on a kid so do you mind waiting for just a bit?"

"What no!

"You can always find me, I won't be too far away and you seem nice, so as long as you don't try to kill me we can work something out."

"Sounds fishy...

"Great! I'll see you in a bit please don't murder my friends."

You were about to run off when you heard a voice yell in your direction.

"Twice if you found someone, kill them, if not get over here now!"

I've heard that voice before...

"I found someone!

"Hurry up Twice!" the voice instructed

" But the girl!"

You shook off the feeling of familiarity and booked it before you were caught.

I kind of feel bad, he seemed cool, well for a villain, but I don't intend to see him again anytime soon.

As you neared Kota's secret place you were devastated to hear huge explosions and crashes.

Oh no, I'm too late someone got to him!

You sprinted up the path sighing in relief when you heard Izuku yelling.

Izuku made it here first! That means Kota could still be alive!

You finally made it to the top just as Izuku made an attack causing Kota to fly off the edge of the cliff.

"Kota!" you dove for him, grabbing the back of his shirt and pulling him back up.

"Y/n!? What are you doing here?" Izuku was badly beaten up, he was bleeding from his head and his arm was shattered.

"Saving your ass apparently. What's the situation."

It took him a second to get over his state of shock but Izuku relayed you the details "The league of villains is attacking and they're after Kacchan and someone else but I don't know who. I came up here to get Kota and found that villain."

Katsuki?

He pointed to a huge blond muscular man who was currently buried under a pile of rubble "He is the villain Muscular and he was the one who murdered Kota's parents."

You looked down at Kota who was looking wide eyed up at you. "You okay Kota?" you asked softly "I know how hard it must be to see that man but don't worry you're safe now. I've got you."

The little boy's eyes welled up with tears "Why... why are you here... why are you helping me... I don't understand!"

You smiled "If there is ever someone in need of saving, there will always be a hero there to help. That's what my Dad used to say anyway."

Izuku just stared at you for a moment and then shakily stood up "Come on you two, let's get back to camp before we run into someone else."

Suddenly another explosion grabbed your attention.

"That attack was a bit too obvious, but hey, not too bad Midoriya!" Muscular stood up and brushed himself off. Kota clutched your shirt tightly. "Oh who's this? A friend? I don't like fighting little girls too much but I'll kill you all the same."

"Who the fuck are you calling a little girl you ugly ass bitch." you snarled pulling Kota behind you

"A feisty one, I like that. Always more fun to watch the life drain out of the eyes of someone with so much spunk." he started walking towards you

"No! Stay away!" Izuku yelled stepping in front of you and Kota

"No, attacking sounds like more fun." he kept steadily getting closer

"Tell me, what does the league want from us?!" Izuku was trying to stall but you had a feeling this guy only wanted to fight

"It doesn't matter to me! I'm just glad they finally let me off the leash, as long as I get to use my quirk all I want I really don't care."

Oh so he's a psychopath, lovely.

Remember what I told you earlier? We've just been playing around, having fun... until now. Now I'm serious! Recess is over I'm coming at you for real because truth be told you're pretty strong and I've got a feeling that little girl isn't too weak either..."

He pulled back his fist.

"Izuku take Kota!"

You threw the young boy to Izuku who jumped out of the way using his quirk while you rolled the opposite direction. Muscular's punch was so strong it split the ground open causing you to almost fall off the edge of the cliff.

He recovered quickly and lunged for Izuku and Kota.

I've got to give them a chance to escape.

"Hey dick head! What, are you too scared to face me, so you're just going for the easy targets?!"

Muscular turned to you "Oh it's going to be so fun to crush you! Don't you worry Midoriya I'll get to you next!"

He attacked you faster then you had anticipated causing you to just barely dodge.

I did think this through, I can't use his quirk or Izuku's so I can't attack, but defense is going to be difficult given his size and power.

You narrowly escaped another punch.

Izuku can't attack right now due to his injuries so all I can do for now is give Izuku enough time to either escape with Kota or recover, but after our training today I don't know how long I can hold out.

You got pelted by sharp stones that exploded everywhere after one of Muscular's attacks, each one piercing your skin.

I just need to get Kota out of here.

You flinched from the pain, giving your opponent enough time to land a quick attack while you were defenseless. He punched your square in the abdomen sending you flying into the wall.

"Holy fucking hell." you coughed up blood

"Y/n!" You heard Kota and Izuku yell

Muscular stalked towards you "Y/n huh? Your name sounds familiar, you must have been someone Shigaraki mentioned. He either said make sure not to kill her or make sure to kill her." He grinned psychotically "Let's just pretend I don't remember."

He raised his fist for a punch to end it all.

You lifted your arms above your head and pulled up your feet

"Weeeeeee" you mumbled lightly as you slid under his legs, letting Izuku land a heavy hit on his head knocking him away.

"Are you okay Y/n?!" he asked helping you up

"Oh yeah I'm fine." you spat out the blood in your mouth and brushed off the debris from your arms exposing your many cuts "Just another day in the hero course."

The two of you stood protectively in front of Kota and waited for Muscular to inevitably get back up again.

"What are you two doing!?" the young boy yelled "You can barely stand! You can't fight him! Let's just go! Come on before he gets up!"

"It'll all be okay." Izuku said through his teeth

"Not to worry Kota, nothing is going to happen while we're here." you smiled back at him

Izuku prepared to make a final attack "Y/n back me up."

"Got it."

Izuku ran in for a 100% Detroit smash which Muscular countered with his own full powered attack.

"THAT WAS EVEN WEAKER THAN THE LAST ONE!" Muscular laughed

You ran up behind Izuku bracing yourself against his back and taking the weight of the attack with your legs while he tried to push through it.

You could feel your knees started to buckle under the weight but you held your ground.

I'm not going to let anything happen to Kota, I'm going to be the hero that he needed.

"KOTA!" you both screamed "RUN!"

"Still looking after him!? AW MAN YOU GUYS REALLY SUCK!" Muscular pushed down harder on the two of you and you felt your ankles fracture as you tried to hold up your friend.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP ASSHOLE!"

"But why!?" Kota cried, unable to move "Why won't you stop?!"

The weight of the attack was finally too much and you fell to your knees, Izuku's back pressed up against yours. You were still trying your hardest to support him and he was trying to break through, but with every second that passed you were pushed closer and closer to the ground.

Is this how I die? Trying to save someone? Back to back with one of my best friends? I have to say it's not the worst way to go...

You finally got pushed flat against the ground, the weight too much to bear.

Maybe it will be nice, to not have to worry anymore...

but I don't want to die yet...

I'll miss everyone so much...

I won't get to see them again...

I guess instead of losing everyone... this time they're losing me...

Oh well...

I'm sorry guys...

"Was that water?"

"Stop! LET THEM GO!"

Kota

"Hold on there, I'll get to you in a second-"

You felt a surge of strength run through you as you pushed off the ground with everything you had left just enough for Izuku to re-activate his quirk.

"You're not going to touch Kota!" Izuku yelled

"You're not going to lay a fucking finger on him you trick ass bitch!'

"ONE FOR ALL ONE MILLION PERCENT..."

You dove out of the way grabbing Kota and shielding him with your body.

"DELAWARE DETROIT SSSSMMMMMMAAAAASHHHHHH!!!!"

Izuku smashed Muscular into the wall so hard it sent a tremor through the earth.

That's going to hurt in the morning.

Kota clutched your shirt sobbing "Why would you two risk your lives? You don't even know me so why did you try to save me?"

You brushed the debris off his shirt.

"Because that's what heroes do."

You whipped his tears with the palms of our hands accidentally smearing his face with dirt and smiled at your cringy phrase.

"Just kidding, the real reason is... I just really like your hat."
