《Snatched》Chapter 37

"Look on the bright side you guys, you won't have to do any extra training."
"Just tell us about how much fun you had when you get back Y/n." Mina whimpered
Out of everyone in your class four people hadn't passed the practical, Mina, Denki, Kirishima and Sato.
"I don't know if I passed either, I got knocked out and Mineta did all the heavy lifting." Sero sighed
"I still don't believe you Sero."
"Y/n how could you be so cruel as to doubt me?!" Mienta sniffled
"I'll believe it when I see it."
"Everyone should be in their seats." your teacher said walking into the classroom, after everyone was seated he gave you the news. "Unfortunately there are some of you who did not pass your final exams so when it comes to the training camp in the woods... Everyone is going."
Gasp, a plot twist!
"Wait we really get to go to camp!" Kirishima blurted out
"Seriously!" Mina beamed with tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, the good news is that nobody bombed the written exam, five failed the practical badly, two teams of course, and Sero failed as well."
Oof, Flex tape won't fix that.
"Let me explain, we on the villains side made sure to leave a way to let you win, otherwise you would have never stood a chance. We were more interested in observing how each of you worked together and approached the task at hand."
"So what you said about not holding back?" Oojiro asked
"That was just to get you on edge, besides the training camp will focus on building your strength. Those who failed need those lessons the most, we were never going to separate you. That was just a logical deception we used."
Logical deception my ass
"However, failure is failure, we've prepared remedial lessons for those of you who didn't pass, quite frankly they'll be far tougher than what you'd face at summer school."
Aizawa passed out the schedules and gave you all time to look over them before class started.
"Woah, it says here we'll be there for a whole week!" said Iida
Izuku stared down at the list of things to bring "I've got to find a bigger suitcase."
Denki sighed "I've probably got to get some stuff."
"Same I don't think I have half the stuff on this list, why do we need three boxes of Band-Aids each? How intense is this going to be?"
"Oh my gosh!" Hagakure squealed "I just had the best idea ever! Since we're all finished exams and we're off tomorrow... why don't we do what Y/n suggested the other day and go shopping together!"
"Hey yeah! We've never hung out as a class before!" Denki exclaimed
"Bakugo, I'll see you there?" Kirishima asked Kastuki
"I can't think of anything more annoying."
You grinned "Oh come on Kat it'll be super chaotic!"
"Exactly."
You would have asked Shoto if he was coming but you knew he visited Rei on his days off, sometimes you would go with him but not this time.
This is going to be great.
***
The next morning you met everyone at the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall. It was the best place to find anything and everything.
"Hey guys!" you called running over to meet them
Mina was the first one to see you "Oh hey Y/n! Great everyone's here now!"
You saw Tokoyami standing with Shoji and decided to talk to them.

"So what are you guys looking for?"
"We both are in need of the training equipment that we have to bring." Tokoyami informed you
"Oh me too, do you mind if I tag along."
"Not at all."
"Nice, do you know who just has seven different types of running shoes for different terrains lying around because I certainly don't."
"Hey everyone! Why don't we all split up and look around? Let's say we meet back here at three?" Kirishima suggested
"Sounds good!"
Everyone broke off into groups and you and your team of three went into the first shoe store you found.
"Fumikage, do you think red stilettos count as shoes for mountain climbing?"
"It depends on how skilled you are."
"Shoji what do you think?"
"Maybe take these instead." he handed you a pair of hiking shoes.
"Wouldn't be as much of a power move but that's probably a good idea."
Your next stop was a store for wrist weights.
"Do you think I need one pair or multiple?"
"I honestly don't know Shoji... Fumikage tell Dark Shadow to stop trying to give me the weights with black spikes on them."
Dark Shadow whimpered and put them back
"Dark Shadow, I think they're lovely but they're also considered a weapon." you patted his head and went back to trying to find six matching weights for Shoji.
You were looking for a store that sold Band-Aids in bulk when you saw Izuku and Ochaco walking together.
"You guys go ahead I'm going to go say hi to them." you gestured to your friends
"Alright, would you like us to wait for you?"
"Yeah that would be great! I'll just be a second!"
Shoji took your bags for you and you ran to catch up to your friends.
Before you got to them a guy wearing a black hoodie put an arm around your shoulder.
"Hey, you're from the UA sports festival aren't you, you're the girl with the quirk stealing power."
You had experienced lots of people come up to you before and ask you about the Sports Festival, but they never came this close to you. You didn't want to offend the guy so you just played it cool.
"Yeah, I am."
"Aren't you one of the students who ran into the Hero Killer in the Hosu incident too? You're practically famous."
The man had a strangely familiar voice but you just brushed it off.
"You certainly keep up with what happens with high school students, um sir could you back up a bit you're kind of making me uncomfortable.
"Apologies but what can I say I'm just a big fan of yours, I can't believe I'm running into you again."
Again?
"It makes me think that it might not be a coincidence," the guy brought his hand up to your neck "Maybe it's fate or destiny."
You froze in place, suddenly remembering where you knew his voice from.
"Oh right, from your point of view we haven't met since the attack on UA."
Play it cool Y/n, you need to survive this.
You hesitantly looked up and saw his face for the second time in your life.
"God Tomura Shigaraki I forgot how badly you need chapstick."
He tightened his grip on your neck "Act natural, don't make a scene. I'm just an old friend who ran into you at the mall. I think we should have a conversation, a friendly chat... oh and if you try to run or fight me in any way just know that as soon as all five fingers touch your neck your throat will be the first thing that disintegrates in a matter of seconds you'll be nothing more than dust and powdered bone."

You could feel yourself start to panic.
Calm down! He's just another villain you can take him on no problem.
"Oh and don't try your little trick and steal my quirk. Unlike other people, my quirk is always activated which means you won't be able to control it and you will end up killing me. We don't want you to have a murder on your track record do we."
"To be honest." you swallowed hard "I wouldn't really mind it."
"Oh but you would, how could you ever become a hero if you killed someone before you even have your license?"
You were stuck, there was nothing you could do. If you tried something you had no doubt he wouldn't hesitate in killing you and then you were sure he would go on a murder spree in the busy mall before any heroes came.
"Okay," you grit your teeth "Let's have a conversation."
He smiled creepily "Let's go grab a seat and get comfortable then."
He led you by the neck to a bench in the center of the mall and forcefully pushed you down.
"When it comes down to it I hate basically everything, but the Hero Killer pisses me off the most right now."
He didn't waste any time there.
"He's one of your people though."
"Not technically, but that's what the media made it look like, and that's what my problem is, suddenly everyone is obsessed with that stupid Hero Killer. The attack on UA, the Nomu's I released on Hosu, he upstaged all of it."
"Your fucking Nomus are really stupid, did you know that? Stupid and really gross looking."
"You'd better watch your mouth, remember you life is in my hands." he squeezed your neck
"Okay! I will stop insulting your moronic bird things, go back to your rant."
"Nobody's even giving me a second thought because of him, why is that? Despite what he claimed to believe, all he really did was get rid of things he didn't like. What do you think the difference is between us Y/n?"
"Do you really want my opinion?"
"I asked you for it didn't I?"
"Well here we go then, you can't kill me when you get angry because you asked for it. The Hero Killer had ideals and goals and he worked toward what he believed to be best for our society. Now don't get me wrong, he was a fucking murderer, which in case you didn't know, is bad, but he was doing what he was for a reason and he stuck to it even when he knew he was going to fail in the end."
You stopped for a second, considering if you should continue, you were only talking so much to keep him from immediately killing you.
"Do go on."
You flinched at the distaste in his voice.
"On the other hand, you Mr Tomura, are a crusty ass attention starved toddler... No I can see you're getting angry, stop it... thank you. You know what, I would like you if you weren't a villain and a murderer and an all around horrible person. While you give up way too easily and only do what you want, not following any code of ethics, you have an end plan and the Hero Killer didn't."
"Oh?"
"Tomura, do you know what would happen to the world without heroes? It would collapse in weeks. That is where the Hero Killer went wrong, he didn't think about what would happen after he killed all the pro heroes, it was just what was happening in the moment. I assume you have a plan for world domination or something like that which I mean... maybe don't? But I also assume there is a big picture plan that won't end in the world falling into chaos. Like maybe you have a dictatorship planned or something or a way to reform society, either way it's better than the Hero Killer's plan but also, could you not?"
He laughed, dare I say, evilly "With your specific skill set and quirk, you would make a great villain."
You tensed up but tried to play it off.
"Nah, I already went through that phase my man, talk to me a few months ago and you've got a new recruit, but I'm good now. There is one other thing though, something you and Stain have in common. You are both driven by All Might, you hate him and the Hero Killer worshiped him."
Suddenly your captors hand tightened around your thought so much you could barely breathe.
Oh fuck, I've done it now.
"I see it now! All the dots are connected! Why the Hero Killer makes me so angry, why you kid's irritate me so much, everything makes sense!" he grinned "It's him... the problem is All Might!"
...okay?
"Yeah... yeah that's it! That's the most rational explanation! I didn't see it even though it was right in front of me the whole time! What was I worried about so much it's simple! He's the reason all of these moronic citizens are able to smile thoughtlessly."
Your vision started to get blurry.
Does nobody see the girl getting strangled in the middle of the mall!?
"They feel so safe because that garbage pro is smiling thoughtlessly too, as if there's nobody in the whole world he can't save! Oh I'm so glad we had this chat! I feel better now! I can't thank you enough Y/n!"
You tried gasping for air but to no avail.
"Oh don't make a scene now, you don't want all the people here to crumble as well."
"Y/n? Is this one of your friends?" Shoji approached you suddenly
"No! Stay back! Don't come any closer!" you choked out.
"What's going on here?" Fumikage studied the hand around your neck.
Suddenly Tomura let you go and you fell to the ground coughing and gasping. He bent down to your level and spoke quietly.
"Don't you dare try to follow me. Also if you ever change your mind, I stick by what I said earlier, you would be a good addition to the League."
He then adjusted his hood and walked away, leaving room for Shoji and Fumikage to run up to you.
"Y/n! Who was that, are you alright?" Shoji propped you up with his arms while you finished your coughing fit.
"We came looking for you after you didn't come back, we had no idea you were in danger."
"No it's fine Fumikage," your voice was hoarse "Come on we need to shut down the mall, that was Tomura Shigaraki."
Shoji and Fumikage helped you up and Dark Shadow patted your head the same way you patted his earlier.
Then you called the police.
***
The mall was shut down and the police conducted a massive search but couldn't find Tomura.
They told you that Izuku had also had an encounter with the villain right after he left you, so you both needed to go to the police station to be interviewed.
The rest of your class gathered outside the mall and Shoji and Fumikage told them what had happened. So naturally they blew up your phone with text messages and calls.
Detective Tsukauchi, the lead detective on the League of Villains, was the one to interview you. You told him about what happened and that Tomura had come to the conclusion All Might was the source of his problems. Tsukauchi then told you that your class probably wouldn't be allowed to go on any vacations over the summer, other than the training camp, for safety reasons.
After a few hours at the police station Shota came to pick you up and take you home. You told him about what had happened and he said you were lucky to have come out alive... which you did not appreciate. Shota dropped you off, asking if you wanted him to stay, but you declined instead calling someone else to come over.
You sat at your table staring at the door waiting for someone to knock. The moment they did you swung open the door and pulled them into a hug.
"Are you okay?"
"No."

8 147A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
