《Snatched》Chapter 29

"Ready to go?"
"Just a second I wanted to talk to Tenya who... has disappeared?"
You looked around the classroom but Iida seemed to have already left.
"Hey Sho, what do you think is up with Iida recently, he's acting suspicious."
"Considering the other people you think are normal I don't see anything wrong with him."
"I guess, let's go then."
You were glad Shoto had offered to walk you home, you didn't want to get swarmed alone again, and even if you did you could just slide out of the situation on his ice.
As you walked through the halls, a nagging feeling kept tugging at the back of your mind. You tried to ignore it but it just kept getting stronger.
"Ugh, I can't. Shoto I'll be right back, wait for me outside."
"Where are you going?" he asked as you ran down the deserted hall.
"I just have to check to see if Tenya's still here."
"He wasn't in the classroom."
"I know but I have to check."
You hated the thought that he'd been left alone, even if it was only a small chance, you were going to check.
There is definitely something going on with him, and I've got a really bad feeling about it.
You came up to a blind corner and skidded to a stop, you knew if you just dashed around it, according to the laws of the universe, you would run into someone, so you instead decided to walk.
Ha! I gottem this time I'm just so-
"Holly fu-mmfh!" you walked strait into someone smashing your face into their chest.
The person stiffened and you braced you hands on their chest and pushed yourself off of them.
You looked up and were met with dark purple eyes and a mop of gravity defying Indigo hair.
You hadn't realized how tall he was until you were standing right beside him looking up, he must have been at lest six foot.
"Hitoshi, we've got to stop running into each other."
It took him a moment but he relaxed when he realized it was you.
"We really do have to stop meeting in abandoned hallways."
You felt something warm under your hands and suddenly remembered they were placed on Hitoshi's chest.
He was a lot more muscular than you thought.
You quickly pulled them back causing the both of you to blush furiously out of embarrassment
"Sorry." you said simultaneously.
You clutched your hands behind your back "How about I stop groping you real quick."
"Don't worry about it, it's fine."
You both stood there awkwardly, not making eye contact, until you remembered something.
"Oh Hitoshi! Can I get your number?"
"Not the best pick up line, but okay."
You groaned "Just so I can text you."
"Oh, sure."
"Don't sound so disappointed moron."
You gave him, your phone and he put in his number.
"There you go."
"Thanks, now I've just gotta change your name and we're good."
"What are you changing it to?"
"Troll Doll of course."
He sighed, it obviously was a comment he got often.
"Okay, I've got to go look for a person who probably isn't here, see ya Hitoshi!"
With a final wave you started running through the halls again.
You looked in your classroom and then around the hallways but didn't find Iida anywhere.
This sucks I was really hoping I could talk to him today.

You turned around and started walking back towards the exit when you saw a familiar skeleton man.
"All Might!" you called out to him
The man turned around looking terrified that a student recognized him while he wasn't in his hero form, but calmed down when he saw it was just you.
"What can I help you with young Y/n?"
"I have two questions first, have you seen Iida?"
"I saw him leaving in a rush earlier, why do you ask?"
"I was hoping to talk to him after school today, he's been acting off since his brother was admitted to the hospital."
All Might nodded "It is understandable that he would be distressed, I feel for his family, the Hero Killer is truly despicable."
"Your familiar with the villain who attacked Iida's brother?"
"I'm not aware of anyone who doesn't know of the Hero Killer Stain, he's running rampant in Hosu city now, but before that, he's been responsible for single handedly murdering seventeen other pro heroes and hurting twenty-three so badly that they are beyond recovery."
"He's on a whole other level than the thugs that heroes face daily."
Silence fell between the two of you, each of you thinking about the horrible acts of the Hero Killer and how many lives he's ruined.
All Might broke the silence "What was your other question young Y/n?"
"Oh yeah, just to settle an argument, do you use hair spray on your hair?"
All Might changed into his muscle form in a flash of smoke, making you jump back.
"A true hero never tells his hair secrets!" he announced as though there was an audience.
"I'll take that as a solid maybe, thanks anyway, Denki bet me twenty dollars that you'd say no."
You glanced at the clock on the wall hoping Shoto hadn't left without you.
"I'd better get going, see ya All Might."
"Before you go, have you decided on a agency to intern at yet?"
You thought back to your piles of offers and shuddered "Not even close."
He seemed to consider something for a moment.
"Then might I suggest an agency that would suit you?"
***
You sat at your kitchen table scanning through your offers.
I saw it before where is it. Ummmmm there!
You pulled out a piece of paper and circled the agency All Might had recommended.
That saves me a lot of work, Nighteye Agency it is.
***
"Everyone has their costumes right?" Aizawa asked your class "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public yet and don't lose them or anything."
"Gotcha!" Mina exclaimed drawing the attention of random people waking through the station.
"Speak properly, it's yes sir, Ashido." Aizawa scolded.
"Yes sir." Mina mumbled dejectedly
"Make sure to mind your manners with the other heroes during your internships, now get to it."
You all broke apart and started heading your separate ways.
"Sho, I'm actually really scared I don't want to do this."
"You say that every time you do something new Y/n."
"I know, but this time I'm serious, what if Sir Nighteye is really mean and the whole experience sucks."
"Then you leave and I'll come and get you."
"No, you're doing your own internship and you have to focus on that... I've got this it'll be great!"
"There you go."
You grinned at him "Thanks Sho you always calm me down, I'll miss you!"

You stood on your toes to give him a proper hug which he gladly returned.
"If you need anything call me and I'll be there."
"I know, I know, you don't have to worry I can handle myself, if you need me to come and give Endeavor a kick in the nuts I'll be there in a flash."
You felt Shoto's chest vibrate with laughter and you pulled away giving him a final wave before you ran to catch your train.
Shoto was surprisingly interning with Endeavor, his reasoning was that Endeavor is the Number Two 2 Pro Hero and he wanted to learn from his judgment skills and instincts.
If I had to choose between Endeavor and a piece of shit, I would choose the piece of shit... oh wait they're the same thing.
As you looked around for your train, you noticed Iida weaving through the crowd of people. Over the past few days you had tried again and again to talk to him about his brother and if he needed help, but he kept brushing you off and telling you it would all be fine.
You knew for a fact it would not be fine, he was interning in the same city that his brother was attacked by the Hero Killer in. You didn't know what he was planning to do but you knew it wasn't going to be fun and fresh.
You considered catching up to him and trying to talk to him again, but your train was about to leave and you honestly were tired of being looked at like you were a bother, so instead you turned away from him and walked to your train.
I've got a feeling I'll regret that.
You searched for a place to sit and saw a familiar green haired boy.
"Izuku! Do you mind if I sit with you?"
He smiled brightly when he saw you walking towards him "Sure!"
You sat down across from him and shoved your bag under your seat "I didn't know you were heading this way, who are you interning with again?"
"Oh, a hero named Grand Torino, I haven't heard of him before but All Might knows him and he was the only offer I received."
"I can't believe you only got one offer, it's a crime. You have the most potential out of all of us and it's a shame only one person recognized that."
"Thanks Y/n that really means a lot." he mumbled fidgeting with his hands. "You're interning with the Nighteye Agency right?"
You nodded your head "All Might recommended that I intern there. I looked into them and they seem to focus on investigations and more general hero work, not as much running into fights, which is good. I think All Might suggested them because I did a lot of strategizing at the sports festival, it's not exactly what I was looking for but I think it'll be good for me to focus on other elements of becoming a hero."
"I'm sure you'll do amazing wherever you go Y/n."
"Let's hope."
The two of you fell into an easy conversation about nothing in particular. You hadn't hung out with Izuku for a while and you forgot how effortless it was to talk to him.
I'm glad he'll talk to me, unlike Tenya...
"Hey Izu, what do you think about Iida?"
"Well I think he's an amazing leader and a very skilled fighter, although he could use some work lengthening the duration of his recipro-"
"No like regarding how he's been acting lately."
"Oh... to be honest I'm kind of worried, he's just been so... off."
You nodded running a hand through your hair "If you somehow end up in Hosu City keep an eye out for him."
The two of you shared a look of mutual understanding and then went back to talking about everything and nothing at the same time.
***
"Bye Izu have fun!" you called out waving to your friend as you parted ways
"Stay safe Y/n!"
"You know I won't!"
He chuckled and you smiled back to him before exiting the station and beginning your walk to the Nighteye agency.
You didn't have to far to go so you took your time absorbing the area around you and trying to remember some landmarks in case you ever got lost.
I think this is it.
You stood in front of a tall building with a bunch of windows and double checked your map before heading inside.
You walked into the lobby and were met by a girl with blue skin jogging towards you.
"Hi! You must be the new intern, L/n, I'm Bubble Girl, one of Sir Nighteye's sidekicks."
Your mind immediately went to Aizawa's lecture on good manners.
She held her and out and you shook it "It's nice to meet you, you can just call me Y/n if that's okay with you."
"Alright then Y/n!" she winked "I'll take you up to meet Sir, right this way."
She lead you up a spiral staircase towards one of the top floors. You were presently surprised by how nice she was, you hoped you could become friends.
"So Y/n, what made you decide to intern here? I heard you got a lot of offers after your performance at the U.A. sports festival."
"Well actually, one of my teachers recommended that I intern here."
"Really who? I'm sure I'll know them."
"All Might."
She jolted to a stop making you bump into her back almost falling back down the stairs.
"Did you say All Might?" She whispered
"Umm... yes?"
Bubble Girl spun around and grabbed you by the shoulders "That's awesome! Sir will be so happy that All Might was thinking about him!"
"What?"
She gasped dramatically "Did you not know? Sir Nighteye used to be one of All Might's sidekicks, but don't bring it up, it's a bit of a touchy subject."
"Oh, okay."
Bubble Girl continued to lead you up the stars while you silently panicked.
Okay, all I have to do is not mention anything about All Might... but what if he asks the same question Bubble Girl did! What if something slips out! Oh no, oh no, oh no.
"Before you meet Sir, you should probably meet the other people working at this agency." Bubble girl said taping her chin "Centipeder, our other sidekick, is out on a mission at the moment but I think Mirio is here."
You finally made it to the top of the staircase.
"Miro is doing at work study here, he actually goes to U.A. as well but he's a third year."
"I don't think I've hear of him befo-"
"MIRIO COME MEET THE NEW INTERN!"
You jumped back at Bubble Girl's sudden outburst, automatically raising your hands into a fighting position.
She noticed your stance and started laughing "Sorry Y/n, I forgot you're new here. Sometimes it's easier to just yell for Mirio considering his quirk. Great reflexes though, you'll need those as a hero!"
"Haha yeah..." you replied awkwardly, your heart still racing "Wait, what is Mirio's quirk?"
Suddenly a face appeared in the wall right beside your head.
"It's called Permeation!"
...
"JEASUS FUCKING CHRIST!"

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?

A young, talented, and aspiring archer makes his way to the Olympic Archery Qualifiers; however an accident prevents him from ever making it. An accident which took the final years of his adolescence, his dream of ever becoming an Olympic Gold Archer, and most importantly someone who meant the world to him. Rehabilitating for a year in a hospital, the despair and dread of being alone and having nothing left worth living for finally got to him. Finding his way to the rooftop, he decided fall, but where he expected death, something else appeared; a blue message. A chill and simple LitRPG story that I just wanted to write. Note: I write with the Dark Theme setting, so if I make a colour mistake it’s probably why. I also strangely prefer using the Imperial System to measure Height, while I use the Metric System for almost everything else (Canadian by the way).

Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.
