The wind was cold, too cold for November it burned their ears and cheeks. "Hizashi..." Shota managed to get out "Yea Babe?" Hizashi chirped back like the cold didn't bug him at all,
"Just checking, your hand is really cold, just making sure you didn't freeze into popsicle."
"Awww, Shota, you care."
"You're my husband, of course I care, you idiot."
"AWWWWWW." Hizashi hugged him tightly, it felt nice. Hizashi was warm and was wearing those puffy winter coats it felt like Shota was hugging a cloud all most. The two made their way to a adoption centre, it wasn't packed but is was nice inside. The lady at the front looked at them and smiled "What can I do for you, Gentlemen?" Hizashi let go of Shota's hand and walked up to the front desk. Shota stayed behind, just because he didn't want to talk to anyone other than Hizashi.
Hizashi motioned Shota to come with him as they walked to the back room "y'know we never talked about whether we wanted a girl or a boy" Shota mumbled "Well, I've always wanted a little tyke first then a little princess, y'know so she'll have protection," Hizashi's green eyes sparkled, "How about you? What did you want first?" He sat down on a leather couch and patted it for Shota "In my opinion, I don't care, hell I never really thought I'd get married." Shota shrugged, he held the nape of his neck. His black hair was in a tight bun out of his face.
Hizashi saw sadness in those moves, like Shota didn't want to talk about it anymore. The two sat there in awkward silence, 20 minutes later a nurse walked though the door. "Yamada? " she looked at a paper making sure that was right. Both Hizashi and Shota looked up "Yes?" Hizashi spoke. "We have a few that are up if you would like to see them now" she smiled Hizashi took Shota's hand "Okay, can we go look?" The nurse showed them into a room with a bunch of sleeping babies and the occasional toddlers.

"Well?" Hizashi elbowed Shota "Which one do you want to call our little man?" Shota scratched his neck, they were all cute in their own way, but one with light purple hair stood out, he wasn't asleep, he was watching them, a ratty bunny in his hand "What about Purple head over there? He's the only one awake" Shota whispered "Babe, I think you made a good choice" Hizashi smiled sweetly.
The three came home, Shota had the baby and Hizashi had everything they would need in his arms, including a crib, baby formula, toys, and a years worth of diapers. Hizashi sat everything down and began with the crib. Shota sat on the couch and placed the tot in his lap, "Hitoshi Akio Yamada" he whispered to himself "Welcome Home"

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
