That's fucking weird.

Connor was in class, blocking out whatever the teacher was saying simply because it was not interesting at all. He glanced over at Evan, who was right beside him, and noticed that Evan had this sort of...angelic halo around him. His hair also had some roses blooming out, petals occasionally falling to the ground and then fading away.

It didn't immediately strike him as strange, since he actually went to school high on pot that day. Sometimes, the drug addiction overtakes him. However, he has been taking it much less frequently than he use to, all thanks to Evan. He saw Evan looking at him, a concerned look in his eyes. That made Connor giggle. He just felt so relaxed, and so joyful to know that Evan cared for him.

The sharp and piercing ring of a bell emitted near him, and so he looked towards its direction, just as everyone around him stood up collectively and scattered. Evan gripped onto Connor's hand, leading him out of the class. That made Connor happier.

Apparently, they were now walking over to the cafeteria.

Oh, it's lunch? Alright.

He saw more people walking beside Evan.

Oh, Kleinman and Alana.

He saw Evan turn to talk to the two of them, a smile of Jared's face as he listened to Evan.

"Jared, Alana, please help me," Evan asked, as a drowsy and happy Connor clung to his arm with a toothy grin and dull eyes. All he got as a response was a chuckle from Jared, and a snicker from Alana.

"Come on, this isn't funny," Evan replied desperately, as his face heat up at how cute Connor was acting by clinging at his arm. It honestly made him happy.

"Oh, I think it's hilarious," Jared replied, still chuckling.

Kleinman better not be making fun of my Ev, Connor thought. Next thing that happened, Connor engulfed Evan in a hug. His face still held a grin as he embraced Evan. Evan let out a small shriek, as his face became a darker shade of red. Immediately, he threw his hands over his face to hide the blush. Meanwhile, Jared and Alana started to chortle, Jared almost coughing up his lungs laughing.

Zoe had walked towards them, attracted by the laughter from the two. She looked at the Jared and Alana, smiling as the laughter was extremely contagious. Then, at Evan and Connor. She hummed in acknowledgement, immediately recognised the situation.

"Oh," she hummed, a non-chalant look in her eyes as she stood next to Jared and Alana, "he's high. Okay."

"Z-Zoey, help me," Evan muttered out from behind his hands, which caused the request to sound even more muffled. Connor looked up to see Zoe. He saw little musical notes dancing about her head, almost excitedly so.

That is strange.

Really strange.

"Nah, give him a day," Zoe replied, clearly unwilling to help. She actually didn't know how, since Connor usually denied help. At this point, it was normal to see him high.

"B-but, how do I know he's going to be focused in class? I-I mean, what if he accidentally knocks into someone a-and he makes that person mad a-a-and he just looks so casual about it that it'll anger the other person and-"

Zoe gripped Evan's shoulders, shaking him back to reality. She stared at him, a warm smile on her face. Evan, being the anxious mess he is, would stare into her eyes for a few seconds before looking away as he was uncomfortable with staring into another person's eyes for a long time.

"He's been through this before, Evan. It's fine. Just leave your boyfriend to his own thing for today. I'll take care for him when we get back."

Evan had no choice but to nod in agreement, as Jared walked over to give him a pat in the back as comfort.

"If it makes you feel any better," Jared said, the tone of his voice now much more motherly, "Alana and I will be coming over with a bunch of books about trees. How's that?"

Jared pointed to both Alana and himself, who nodded her head in agreement to the plan. This made Evan feel much better.

"Y-yeah, okay. I...I'm just worried he'll go back to being high all the time," Evan admitted.

He then gave Connor a quick peck on the lips, wishing him well as he handed him over to Zoe.

-----

It's the next day.

Connor had realised that he made Evan worry, and immediately felt terrible. When he woke up, his senses were heightened. He was so quick to wake himself and all he did was pace about his room, thinking of a long apology and something to make it up to Evan.

Even in the car, he was thinking of a way. Today, Zoe drove Connor and herself to their school. Their mom had yoga classes with some other moms. He was desperate for some way to make it up to Evan, and so he consulted Zoe.

"Hey sis," Connor called, noticing the little nod from Zoe as well as the same musical notes dancing around her head from yesterday, "thanks for yesterday. Helping me through the pot I mean."

Zoey just nodded in acknowledgement. This was their language, understanding each other through silence.

"I suggest just staying with Evan," Zoe replied, clearly understanding how Connor had felt about this situation. She even smiled, knowing Connor could see that smile from the back seat by staring at the mirror positioned in front of the glass.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

After a fifteen minute drive, they reached the front of the school. Connor flung open the door, dragging himself out of the car onto the scorching pavement, and made his way towards the school entrance.

He looked up at the entrance, and saw someone there with an ethereal glow, and so very beautifully lighting up their surroundings. Connor felt mystified. He remembered something about someone having a glow. Wait, he wasn't high right now though?

Evan stood there, surrounded by this mysterious glow, nervously gripping at the hem of his shirt as rose petals slowly fell from his head of hair. His eyes darted about, seemingly searching for someone amongst the crowd of people walking in the school. His eyes met with Connor's, and he just smiled brightly, dashing over to Connor as quickly as he could.

"Connor," Evan exclaimed, as he ran towards Connor and gave him a huge hug, pressing his head against his chest. This made Connor smile, but that smile turned into a frown once he remembered yesterday's events.

"Hi, Ev," Connor responded, combing his fingers through Evan's hair lovingly, "I'm so fucking sorry about yesterday. I shouldn't have taken pot."

He felt Evan shake his head, followed by Evan looking up to meet with Connor's gaze.

"I'm just glad that you're okay," Evan grinned, which made Connor swoon.

One thing still bothered Connor. The whole time this exchange happened, Evan still had an ethereal glow around him and rose petals falling onto his hoodie. That made him wonder how long the pot takes effect. It was definitely strange, though.

Nevertheless, he ignored it.

-----

Okay, what in the actual fuck.

It's been two weeks since Connor has taken pot, but Evan's glow and head of roses were still there. It was confusing, but strangely normal as well. It made sense for Evan to have a glow, since he was a literal angel, but why? Why the hell is Connor still hallucinating? Also, roses?

Connor glared at Evan as he sat down on the bench in the cafeteria, who was currently talking to Jared about something. The whole time, Evan looked mystified, chatting about something as he pointed to his hair and then inquired something. Jared listened in, fascinated by Evan's speech as he kept both his hands behind his back, almost like a teacher.

Jared turned and looked at Connor after Evan pointed something out, noticing that he was staring at Evan. His smile faded for a bit, before he subconsciously tugged at Evan's shirt to show his protectiveness over Evan. This made Connor a bit embarrassed, to be noticed for staring at someone, and so he turned away, noticing that Zoe had walked beside him, ready to question his actions.

"Connor, you've been glaring at Evan for a while now, what's up?"

Connor stood up, gripping Zoe by the shoulders and eyes widened with infuriation, noticing that she still had the music notes dancing around her head.

"I haven't taken pot for two weeks, Zoe," Connor started, slightly shaking his sister's body with irritation in his voice and seeing the music notes bounce back and forth, following Zoe's head, "but Evan still has a glow and a head of roses and it's pissing me the fuck off!"

"Wha...glowing? Roses?"

"They're fucking with me, right," he asked, desperate to hear an answer to confirm his insanity, only to receive a look of confusion. He then stormed off towards Evan, leaving Zoe to question and analyse whatever the hell Connor meant by that.

Connor stormed to Evan, just as Jared left to get something from his locker. He aggressively pulled Evan into a hug, pressing his face close to his chest. Evan let out a quiet shriek, as he felt Connor pull him into an embrace and his head being pressed against Connor's chest.

"C-Connor?"

Connor was too distracted with how the glow and the roses worked. As he pressed Evan's body against his own, the glow is blocked, but only the parts that were completely against his body. He continued trying to pick at the glow as well as the rose petals.

All Evan could do was blush, quietly waiting for the inspection to be over.

Connor continued picking at the air around Evan, his tongue sticking out as he concentrated on grasping at the rose petals which never seem to end and examining the ethereal glow. He took note that Evan was seemingly picking at his hair as well, fascinated with something about his hair. Jared strutted back towards the two, confused by Connor's actions.

"Hey, Marilyn Manson and his tree hugger," Jared called out, earning the attention of the couple.

"I don't care if this is some strange fetish or inside joke," he started, a frown evident on his face, "but what are you two doing exactly?"

Connor looked up, only just realising that the students around them had been staring at Connor acting strangely, picking at air as he clung onto Evan. Embarrassed, he quickly let go of Evan and quietly sat down on the bench.

"O-okay, what is happening, Connor," Evan asked, sitting down beside Connor. He gripped his right thumb with his left hand, then form an arc with the remaining fingers on his right hand connected to the knuckles, forming the image of a lock.

Connor remembered that symbol. That was their version of 'I won't tell' ever since they first became friends. He first did that symbol when he arranged for them to meet at the orchard. He knew what Evan meant and nodded.

"You are glowing to me, Evan. Your hair also has lots of roses in it. I'm just really fucking confused about that."

At first, Evan was confused. But after he thought about it, he nodded understandably.

"Wait, you don't think it's weird?"

Evan shook his head, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"W-well, it's been a week but, you, um, you h-have some flowers growing in your hair?"

"And no one else can see it?"

"Y-yeah, I was talking to Jared about it today, too! He had a bow on his pinky finger for me for some reason!"

They both discussed about this with each other, as Jared and Zoe watched. They both looked at each other, sharing the same look of confusion as they wondered what either meant by glowing or flowers.

-----

The day after, Connor arrived to school, expecting to see his boyfriend glowing as he ran towards him, but was disappointed and happy to find that the glow and flowers had disappeared. He hugged Evan, a neutral emotion in his heart.

"Your glow is gone," he informed, a little saddened that his angel isn't glowing like an angel anymore. Evan on the other hand seemed a bit disappointed.

"What's wrong, baby," Connor asked, earning a small blush from Evan. It seems that he was getting use to the nicknames.

"I-I still see you with the flowers," Evan replied, but the disappointment was replaced with a smile, "G-good thing you, um, you look so handsome with them."

Connor felt his face heat up, and he hugged Evan a little more, feeling so happy to have a boyfriend that was so cute. Meanwhile, Jared stared at the two with fear and confusion. What he saw freaked him a bit. He turned to Alana, who was also staring at the two embracing.

"Hey, um, Alana," Jared called, getting a hum of acknowledgement from Alana, who turned to her locker to get her textbooks, "is it just me..."

"...Or do Evan and Connor have a red string tied around their ring fingers?"

Alana turned to face Jared, confused by the statement.

"Zoe told me about this yesterday as well. She said those two have been talking about glowing and flowers?"

"Yeah."

Alana turned to look at the couple, and turned back to Jared with a non-chalant look, silent on the matter. Jared took this chance to stare at the couple, noticing that Evan has a dandelion hair ornament in his hair, one single ornament.

"...Well?"

Alana remained silent, which made Jared tremble with anticipation. She turned to the two of them, and then back to Jared with the same non-chalant attitude.

"Evan has a small floating tree, and Connor has a small floating question mark for me."
