《Infectious Intent (M. Yandere x F. Reader)》The Longest Safety

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

A blanket draped over her shoulders, (f/n) curled up onto the old, plush chair in a patient waiting room. They had moved her to floor six and made sure that there were no windows nearby. The exit to the stairwell was close, but four armed guards stood watch of it. Five more armed guards remained close to her.

Sitting on the chair next to her, a nurse sat ready in case she needed assistance to move to another location quickly. A wheelchair was next to him. Police had already come by and questioned her on what had happened in the room, and she related the information quietly. Her mind was still recuperating from waking up to that nightmare of a space and to the reality that the creature was still after her.

Several officers remained behind and scouted the hospital for any signs of the creature. So far, no more screams had been heard. Then again, the creature could've silenced them before they even had the chance to do so. There was word spreading around the hospital that news reporters were waiting out in the parking lot, and she was glad that visitor hours were over.

She had been asked on whether she wished for her parents to come over, but she denied the offer. (F/n) didn't wish for them to be driving at night even thought the street lights were on. Thankfully, her day of release was tomorrow. The creature didn't know the location of her home, and there were guards placed at her home in case something were to go wrong. After what had happened in her hospital room, she didn't desire to stay another night at the place.

There were the reporters to worry about, but the hospital staff was nice enough to let her use the back exit, which typically was only for staff. She was tempted to call Nick and ask if he could visit her tomorrow to see if he had anymore encounters with the creature, but she withheld. (F/n) placed the piece of paper back in her shirt's pocket. It was doubtful that the creature would go to another town when its home was closer to the one she was in.

Besides, the call would probably be pointless. Nick might give her a few comforting words, but she suspected that he wouldn't be coming to visit. That first morning of her stay, he seemed pretty intent on getting out of the town and returning home. It made sense. He had no obligation to help her further; he had already saved her life, and she was grateful for that.

Tightening her hold on the blanket, she glanced to the dusty, old wall clock. It was three in the morning. She could feel her eyelids wishing to close, but she kept them open. Whenever she would close them fully, images of crimson and terrible imaginations would plague her vision. (F/n) rested her forehead against her knees and recalled the message that the creature had left for her. A small smirk appeared on her lips. He had made a wrong move.

Absolutely under no circumstance would she be meeting him, but others would be. Police forces would drive there and wait for the creature to show. When he did, light from all angles would be directed on him, and he would be dealt with. Then, she could finally rest.

Eventually, her eyes shut against her will. Her exhausted mind had managed to block out a majority of the images, but some were still present. She would wake about every thirty minutes and would look to the clock. With each half hour, she only desired to leave all the more.

Even though it was so late, patients were still being wheeled by every now and then. The sound wouldn't wake her, but she did see some of them when she was awake. At five, she watched a gurney wheel by. A patient had passed in her sleep. There was a sheet covering her body or most of it. Her limp arm hung over the side and tapped against the metal as she was wheeled away.

(F/n)'s stomach turned at the sight. She saw Laura under that sheet for a moment. It had only been a figment of her imagination, but it had been a strong one. The scent of blood filled her nose, and red decorated the hallway. Something rolled across the floor before it stopped right in front of her. Fearful, she peered down, and Laura stared back. Her eyes widened, and her body trembled. A loud scream parted from her before she felt hands shaking her.

Her eyes shot open, and the nurse stood worriedly in front of her. "Ms. (L/n), are you alright?" (F/n) swiftly glanced to the hallway and saw the gurney briefly before it disappeared. Calming down, she steadily looked back to the nurse. "Ms. (L/n)?"

"What happened? Did I fall asleep?"

The nurse sighed in relief and nodded. "Yes, though, probably only for a few seconds." He returned to his seat and relaxed again. "You screamed after that." A reassuring smile crossed his lips. "It was only a nightmare, Ms. (L/n)." She gave a small nod and pulled her knees somehow closer.

Tears formed and silently fell down her cheeks. If only, the nurse was right, but it was nowhere near that simplistic. In two more hours, though, she could go home. She could sit in the living room and eat home cooked meals again. For hours, she could watch television and clear her mind of the horrible memories. It wouldn't solve the problem of the creature, but it would do her health some good. Not to mention that her parents had already promised her such luxuries.

Glancing over to the vending machine, her eyes landed on a cold, mocha coffee. That would keep her up for another hour at least. If she required a second coffee, she didn't mind. She just didn't desire to fall back asleep. Her legs needing a stretch, she gradually stood from her chair. The nurse went to help, but she signaled that she didn't require it.

"I only want a coffee." (F/n) bent over a little and grabbed her purse from her large bag of things before she headed over to the vending machine. Once she had her coffee, she returned to her seat and watched the hours pass. When the clock struck seven, the nurse seated her in the wheelchair and guided her to the first floor.

Both of her parents were waiting for her by the back door. They had already filled out all of the paperwork. The nurse helped her out of the chair, and her parents took her from there. It was still dark outside, but it was busier out. That assured her enough for now, and her parents would be staying on well populated streets. No longer did shortcuts seem like the better option.

Seated on the backseat, (f/n) sat in the middle. She didn't want to be close to either of the windows, but she found herself continually looking out the back one. The creature wasn't behind them; there were only other cars. Her attention turned to the trees that were on her right side, but she didn't spot the creature. He was nowhere in sight. Perhaps, the police had already killed him at that location. A smile coated her lips; she hoped that was the case.

Exhaustion taking over, she leaned her head against the back of the seat and closed her eyes unwillingly. As she entered sleep, her body slouched over onto the backseat. She curled up, and her steady breathing indicated that no pictures tormented her mind yet. Her mother glanced back and smiled before she looked forward again. The woman was happy to see her daughter recovering.

After what Nick and (f/n) had told her husband and her, she wondered if peace would ever visit her daughter again. How she was sleeping now indicated that it had. She only hoped that it would last. Peering over to her husband, she asked, "Do you think that the creature will be caught, (d/n)? I don't want it coming near her again or any of us for that matter."

No comforting smile crossed his lips. He shook his head. "Unfortunately, I don't. That thing has evaded capture and/or death for all of these years that the murders have been going on. What has it been now? Six?"

"Yes, but we know its weakness."

"But, it can adapt. That thing's intelligent at a frightening level, (m/n), and it's killed many armed forces in the past. Honestly, I'd move, but we have our business here. Our life is here, and we have no one but (f/n) to take over the funeral home. And, it's the only one in town. We would have to leave her here, and we both know that's not happening."

"I know, and we should be safe at the house. It doesn't know where we live, and we've increased the amount of locks on all of the windows and doors. All of our lights have been upgraded to higher power ones." She leaned back in her seat and sighed. "Maybe, you're right, though. They may not kill it at that location, but it won't be in its home. It knew the tunnels well, and it may know the woods well, but it'll be more vulnerable out in the open."

"I hope so, but until it's killed, none of us are leaving the house at night. And, we're not taking any more requests for a funeral at night. It's too dangerous, and someone would have to be mad to ask for one right now."

"I agree, and we'll be safer once we attach bars to all of the windows. They're coming the day after next, right?"

"Yes, and we'll have them up by the end of the day." He pulled into their driveway and under one of the bright lights. Getting out of the car, he opened the left backdoor and lifted his daughter up carefully. "I'll take her up to her room. Hopefully, she'll be able to sleep for a few more hours. She needs it." His wife agreed before she locked up the car and followed her husband inside.
