《Infectious Intent (M. Yandere x F. Reader)》The Bloodiest Greeting

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

It had been a week since (f/n)'s arrival at the hospital. Nick had stayed true to his word and had left the morning of her first day there. He had given her his number in case she needed anything, and she was rather grateful for that. Over the course of the days, though, she had been interviewed by police and public media.

Thankfully, her stay in the hospital only permitted an individual or two in her room at a time. There was also the fact that there had to be long breaks between each visit so that her health didn't decline. She didn't have to worry about getting crowded by a mob of people, but she expected that Nick was experiencing more of that treatment.

Today, though, she only had one visitor. They had delivered her reward money for the information that she had given on the creature. Her parents were gone, so she would have to wait until they visited again to hand them the check. It wasn't the full reward since the creature hadn't been killed, but it was a substantial amount. The piece of paper, however, made her sick.

She had lost her best friend to those tunnels, yet people had been smiling and cheering around her. (F/n) was happy to be alive, but, with the passing of days, her friend's death sank in more. It was as though it was a slow working poison. The money only served to remind her about what she had lost, and she wished to deposit it as quickly as possible so that she wouldn't have to look at it anymore.

If she had let her emotional side rule over her, she would've torn the check in two, but reason told her to set it on the nightstand and save it. The money had awful memories attached to it, but it could be used to help her parents out if an emergency happened. Or, she could save it and retire earlier on in life. There were a lot of options, and she knew that she wouldn't be receiving another check like that again anytime soon.

One thing was certain, though. She would help pay for Laura's funeral if her parents required assistance. That was the least that she could do for her friend. (F/n) leaned back against her pillow and glanced out the windows. A light fall of snow decorated the outside air, and it was rather peaceful.

Hesitantly, she turned off the main light in her room. The dull light above her bed remained on, and she told herself that was enough. She was safe in the hospital room and on the fourth floor for that matter. That thing was still living, but for him to get to her room, he would have to cross a sea of parking lot lights. There were also all of the lights throughout the hospital.

Relaxing, she watched the snow for a few more minutes before she drifted off into sleep. Eyes, however, had watched her room light turn off. This had been the case for her first day of arrival at the hospital as well, but they had viewed the lights being turned on. Today, they came back since adjustments needed to be made.

Leaning against one of the trees, a grin stretched across pale lips. That human male really shouldn't have made it so easy to follow them. It was annoying that there had been other people around that night. He didn't mind making his presence known in his own home, but in public he preferred a quieter approach. The territory was new, and there were too many lights around to attack whoever he pleased whenever he desired. Still, the human had proceeded to stand next to the windows that very night. It had been amusing since he had given away their location so easily.

Due to that, he had decided to wait since he thought that he could pick them off at any time. That had been a mistake. Now, he couldn't wait any longer. He pushed himself off of the tree and steadily made his way closer to the large building. His stomach grumbled, and a frown appeared on his lips. Those cursed humans had ruined his meal plan. In frustration, he chewed on his lower lip a little.

He heard a door open. His eyes shot towards that direction. A smirk formed, and he lowered himself to the ground. Using the bushes as cover, he neared the target. Dinner had been served.

As if her body sensed the danger, (f/n)'s eyes gradually opened. Her vision was still blurry from sleep, but she heard something creaking. She looked straight ahead and saw the nightstand. Rolling onto her back, she brought the sheets up closer as it became colder in the room. Tiredly, she directed her attention to the window. There was nothing there, but it was open.

Snow flew into the room while pale moonlight highlighted something on the ground. Gradually, she sat up. Her hands trembled as she recognized the object. Swiftly, her eyes scanned over the room, but she didn't see him in there. He had been in there, though. Why had he left? She was relieved that he had, but he had to be nearby.

When she tried to flick on the main light, she found the switch broken. He had been that close to her bed, and she hadn't realized. She brought the sheets even closer. How long had he been in there with her?

Her eyes went to the phone, but that had been disconnected. To make matters worse, her cell phone was missing. Following the spots of blood around the room, she looked to the door. The doorknob had been snapped off. If she wanted to escape the room, she would have to leave through the windows, and she didn't desire to go anywhere near them.

Presumably, the creature had taken that exit. Another option would be to wait until someone checked on her. Would she be alive by then? Why had she ever thought that she would safe in the hospital? Somehow, the creature had managed to figure out which room was hers and had gotten past the parking lot lights.

Forcing herself out of bed, she put on her slippers. Her eyes looked over to the item on the floor. There were crutches by her bed since she had needed to use them on her first days of recovery. She grabbed one and headed over to the object.

Keeping her distance, she utilized the crutch to bring the item closer. Once it was at her feet, she set the crutch aside and crouched down. Carefully, she avoided the blood on the nurse's shirt as she flattened it out. When she finished, she spoke softly, "Meet me on the northern edge of the woods." An arrow pointed to the back of the shirt. The message was smeared, but she managed to read a word: bones.

Standing to her feet, she felt sick. She backed away from the object and made it for the bathroom. After she locked the door behind her, she rested her hands on the sink's counter. Her head hung down, and she calmed her stomach. Images of what had happened to that nurse ran through her mind, and Laura popped up again in her head.

As her hold on the counter tightened, she felt tears forming. Why did he have to come back? Couldn't he go back into his home and leave her alone? She had experienced enough trauma for a lifetime, yet he came right back into her life. Was he that intent on killing her? Her body crumpled to the floor as her hands slid down to her sides.

A loud scream hit her ears. Her eyes looked to the closed door, and her whole body trembled. Recollections of Brent's screams ran past her eyes, and she had to close them. She covered her ears while she curled up more. "Please, leave me alone," she mumbled quietly to herself. This plea, though, was heard by no one else.

When booming knocks sounded on her room door, she became more scared. Even though she knew that the creature wouldn't be coming that way, her terrified mind froze her body. "Ms. (L/n)! Ms. (L/n), are you in there! Open up! There's been an emergency!" She didn't answer. Her left hand only gradually moved up to the bathroom doorknob.

Unlocking it, she opened the door at a snail' pace and peeked outside. The creature wasn't in sight. She used the doorframe to pull her shaking body up before she managed to walk over to her bed. Practically, she collapsed upon it. There was no way for her to open the door. Footsteps ran away from her room, and she presumed that person was getting help.

Technically, she should've closed the windows, but she was much too frightened to go near them. Snow continued to decorate the space by them. The bloody shirt stared back at her. She wouldn't go to that location. No, she would stay far away from the woods. If she got lucky, the creature would die from overexposure to light since it was out in the open, but she knew that he was too smart for that.

Tears continued to stream down her face while she had trouble accepting the reality of her situation. Footsteps pounded towards her door, and she heard a loud click. Two nurses filed in, but they stopped when they saw the condition of the room. Their eyes looked to the shirt. One of them stepped forward and glanced at the name tag. She covered her mouth with her right hand, and (f/n) could see tears beginning to form from her eyes.

The other nurse walked over to (f/n) and steadily helped her to her feet. "Did it hurt you at all?" Her lips moved, but nothing came out. She merely rested her head against his chest and cried silently. Hands rested on her upper arms. "We're going to move you to a more populated area. Guards will be nearby. Come on." Gently, he began to guide her out of the room. As they left, the other nurse followed since she didn't wish to stay in that room alone.

(F/n) heard the female nurse crying behind her. "I-I need a mo-moment," she stuttered out. Her footsteps weren't heard anymore. Not looking back at her, (f/n) understood her pain quite well.
