“Are you sure about this?” Michael asked him as they got ready for Finn's little surprise.

“No, but I’m not backing out now” he laughed.

Sticking his head out from behind the curtain Michael scanned the club for Rachel and Maria and when he found them he cursed “Shit”

“What?” Finn asked.

“I think the girls are having a little showdown with Serena and that blonde friend of hers” Michael told him.

“why me?” Finn swore.

“I warned you” Michael reminded him.

“I know, I was stupid and I regret that I’ve hurt Rachel but the truth is Michael in a way it’s been a blessing as well” he admitted.

“What? How can you say that? the two of you almost broke up for good over this” he said.

“Yeah we did but instead we finally cleared the air and we’re working through it. If things had continued the way they were before this whole Serena thing happened I’m not sure if we would have been able to do that” he said.

“What do you mean?” Michael said.

“I mean we spent next to no time together anymore, we didn’t talk, I was keeping things from her and she was always kicking me down a long list of priorities, I think in a way this showed us both how much we really mean to each other”

Michael nodded “I get ya, it’s twisted but I get ya” he said.

“Okay I’m ready here guys” the DJ told them then.

“Got for it man” Michael grinned before quickly walking off the stage, this he had to see and he figured Maria and Rachel had a great seat.

Rachel was about to respond to Serena when a loud tapping over a microphone interrupted her and they all turned towards the stage.

“What the hell?” Maria said when they saw Finn standing up there.

“Hi everyone, sorry to interrupt but the good people here at Burn have allowed me to get up here. So anyway El, this is for you beautiful”

“What?” Serena said and began looking around for the blonde.

Rachel sat there mesmerised as she watched her normally shy Finn pick up a microphone and begin serenading her.

The people in the crowd began to go crazy then, the guys were hollering at Finn and singing along to their own girls whilst all the girls were looking around trying to find the lucky women that the hunk in front of them was singing too.

Rachel felt tears come to her eyes as she watched him look right at her and lift his hand to his heart before he pointed right at her. Serena and everything around her was forgotten except for Finn. He started walking across the stage towards the stairs and descended them.

When he began making his way across the dance floor she knew where he was coming and she knew she wouldn’t be able to breathe till he reached her.

When Finn finally reached her he got down on his knees in front of her and smiled.

“Oh god you idiot, do you know how much I love you” she cried and Finn only had enough time to place the microphone down before she launched herself into his arms.

Oblivious to the loud round of applause they received from the entire club who had watched Finn's little performance, or the tears of her best friend Rachel kissed Finn with every ounce of the love she felt for him.

“I love you too” he whispered when they finally broke apart.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?” Serena’s scream intruded on their moment.

“You told me you were in love with, El?” she said accusingly.

“I am” he told her.

“Then why does Rachel have the same chain as you and why the hell are you kissing her after dedicating that song to El?” she asked.

“Because she is El” Finn finally said.

“No she’s not! I saw El and she’s blonde and beautiful” Serena argued.

“No, El is a gorgeous brunette with the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen” he said gazing down at Rachel and smiling. “I don’t like blondes” he added.

“Then who?” she said.

“Oh your not talking about Isabel are you? I mean you didn’t think she was El did you?” Rachel giggled.

“Who is Isabel?” Serena asked confused.

“Isabel is my twin sister” Finn answered.

Tess stepped forward and placed a hand on Serena’s arm, she was making a fool out of herself and people were starting to notice.

“I don’t get it” she said then. “I mean why her, Finn?” she asked with tears in her eyes.

Finn sighed he didn’t want to upset Serena he had never intended to do that. Helping Rachel up he sat down and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms protectively around her.

“There isn’t anything to get, Serena. I’m in love with Rachel and I have been for as long as I can remember. What happened between us was a huge mistake and I’m sorry if I hurt you but there is nothing between us and there never will be and you need to accept that and leave me and Rachel alone” he told her.

“And what you just don’t care about the fact that he slept with me that we were together?” she turned to Rachel her last hope was convincing the girl that Finn had deceived her so that she would dump him, and maybe then Finn would realise what a terrible mistake he had made..

“Of course I do” Rachel said “but we weren’t together when that happened, it still hurts but I love him and we’re working through it” Rachel tells her.

Serena nods and then without another words stalks away. Tess stands there for a few minutes and contemplates what to do.

“She’ll leave you alone now” she tells them softly. It’s obvious to anyone that sees the two of them together that they’re in love.

“Oh and Finn?” she says.

“Yeah?” he says.

“Great singing?” she smiles. Any guy that would get up on stage and confess his love to his girlfriend like that was a total goner. Finn Hudson would never love anyone the way he loved Rachel Berry that she knew for sure.

Finn nods at Tess and when she walks away he pulls Rachel against him tighter “thank you” he said.

“For what?” Rachel asks.

“Being you” he says.

“I’m not perfect, Finn” she shakes her head “don’t put me up on a pedestal because the fall wouldn’t be pretty”

He nods, she’s right he’s done that in the past and he’s ended up being disappointed. Rachel is who she is just like he is who he is.

“Lets go home” she whispers she just wants to crawl into bed and spend the night in his arms.
