*NOT EDITED*

Rohan's been off since yesterday. I can't put my finger on the exact why but something's going on. But I don't want to ask because I'm scared to know. It might that he's mad at me.

But he didn't seem angry last night, especially last night so I don't know what to think.

When I woke up I smelt the smell of bacon, eggs, waffles, and fruit. And then when I went downstairs I found Rohan cooking.

And mom and dad didn't know because they walk down the hall from their room just as surprised as I am.

"What's this about?" I asks walking towards the coffee machine, but I see a cup has already been made.

He plants a kiss on my forehead, "Just thought I'd make breakfast."

Mom walks up and grabs a piece of bacon, "Well, come over more often."

I laugh as I take a drink of my coffee. I then see a cup of something beside him. I grab it and take a sniff only to smell coffee. I look up, "Cappuccino?"

He continues making the eggs. "Maybe."

I smile as I put my coffee down and hug Rohan from behind.

And now we're getting ready to go to lunch with some old high school friends of mine. Like everyone, I had my click in high school. Mostly Lexi but also Tara and Riley as well as Peter. We're all meeting at a popular steak house.

He's never really been to New York so we leave early and I give him a whole tour of New York, mostly my favorite places.

Like Central Park, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, and Prospect park.

We go to the steak house at 1:00 and we're not the first ones there. Tara is sitting there already and stands when she sees me. She smiles as she hugs me, "Oh it's so good to see you Katherine."

I smiles as I lean back. I turn to Rohan, "Rohan this is Tara. Tara this is Rohan."

Rohan extends his hand and Tara shakes it, "The prodical boyfriend. The one who got her attention."

I laugh as Rohan's face scrunches with confusion, "What do you you mean?"

She looks at me then, "Well in high school she rarely liked any of the boys. I think she had only a few boyfriends throughout all 4 years." She laughs, "Most boys chased her."

I roll my eyes but just as I'm about to say let's sit down, I hear a familiar deep voice behind us. "Katie!"

I turn around and see Peter barreling towards me and catches me in a bear hug, "Oh my god. It's so good to see you!"

I hug him back with equal force. I tighten my hold before releasing him. "How's life? How is Xavier?" I ask.

"He's good. We're still going strong. Columbia is good, we miss you there."

I roll my eyes and turn to Rohan, "Rohan, Peter. Peter this is Rohan my boyfriend."

Peter looks him up and down, "Hockey player?" Raises a brow.

I snort, "Fuck off, Peter." I say before we all sit down. Riley said she's running late from her internship.

Tara talks about her catering job as well as college and a guy she's seeing. Peter talks about Columbia, his barista job and his relationship with Xavier. Though just as they start peppering me with question and some for Rohan, Riley gets here out of breath.

She hugs me quickly before siting down and ordering a water. Then her gaze catches on Rohan. I'd totally forgot to tell them he was coming.

"Oh yeah, this is Rohan my boyfriend. Ro, Riley."

Riley smiles and extends her hand to Rohan who shakes it, "Hi."

He nods, "Hey back."

Pete interrupts, "Okay so when did this start happening. Give us details." He sounds like a kid on Christmas morning.

I grin, "Well he was obsessed with me from the beginning, then about a month ago I decided to date him."

Rohan chuckles, "There's a few holes in your story, Fly."

Riley got her water and takes a sip, "Fly?"

I roll my eyes, "Yeah. Dad told him the 'hockeyfly' story."

Tara laughs, "Be glad that's the one he told."

I nod, "Yeah." I turn to Riley, "So what's this internship for?" I can't tell from her clothes so I can't guess.

She smiles, "It's for the New York Times."

My eyes widen, "Holy shit Riley, this is big."

Tara claps her hands, "See? That's what I said."

Pink colors her cheeks, "It's not that big of a deal."

I roll my eyes, "You need to take complements, Ri."

But then the waiter comes and that conversation is over and we talk about other stuff. Until we know it it's 3:30 and Riley is getting up to leave which makes us realize the time.

"I have to go, my turn to cook tonight and I have to grocery shop." She says taking me in for a hug.

I laugh, "Yeah, we have to go as well." I say releasing her and then hugging Peter and then Tara. Peter has to meet up with Xavier and Tara's going shopping.

Now me and Rohan are walking back to the apartment. Even though it's winter, the apartment is not even a 10 minute walk so we're just walking.

I slip my hands into Rohan's pocket and intertwin our fingers together, "So?"

"So, what?"

I elbow him, "What did you think?" I ask.

He untangles our hands and with that arm places it around my shoulders, "Why does my opinion of your friends matter. If you love them then that's what matters." He kisses the top of my head.

And I almost say it there. Those three words that have been on the tip of my tongue for 2 weeks.

🏒 🏒 🏒

When we walk through the apartment door the living room is empty but then when I look to the kitchen, where faint music is playing, I see the reason why I believe in love.

Mom and dad are slow dancing as something cooks in the oven. They notice us and stop dancing, "Hey hun, how was lunch?"

But I'm still staring at them when Rohan places a hand on my back. I startle, "Oh um, yeah it was good. Also showed Ro all the good places."

She nods, "We'll leave in about hour and a half. That good enough time?"

I nod and then walk upstairs. To save time me and Ro have the shower together. When I feel him slip his hand around my waist and splays his finger across my stomach. I laugh as I hang my head against his chest at my back. "Stop feeling me up." But I don't move his hand.

He starts kissing my neck and his hand lowering slowly. It takes all my might but I place my hand on his. "Ro, we can't. Right now." I say the last part with a pause.

He groans but removes his hand and kisses my neck one last time.

After that Rohan is mission oriented and we finish the shower within 15 minutes. Rohan changes into different slacks and button up and tie.

I change into a kind of maroon cocktail dress with some nude boots I have in my closet from last year.

The drive to Bridgeport is about and hour and a half drive from New York and we get there around 6 ish. My aunt Rose and uncle Cheston are already there. I hug them both and introduce them to Rohan.

I take a good look at aunt Rose, "Oh my god you look so good."

She smiles, "Uh huh, but he's kicking like a champ."

I smiles as uncle Cheston puts an arm around her stomach, "He's probably going to play football or something."

I laugh, "What about hockey?"

They roll their eyes but the grandma is calling that supper is ready. Like yesterday me and Ro sit beside each other with dad and mom now across from me, grandma and grandpa at the heads of the table and aunt Rose beside me and uncle Cheston across.

"So how's your brother?" I ask uncle Cheston.

He nods, "Doing good. My parents are taking care of him. He's really excited to be an uncle. Wants us to name him Josh Jr." He laughs making me laugh. Dad then asks him another question.

Rohan gives me a confused look. I move to whisper in his ear, "Josh has down syndrome and autism."

He nods.

"So Rohan," Aunt Rose brings our attention to her, "Your mom is..."

"Alice Griffin, she's a judge."

Aunt Rose nods, "Yeah I've heard of her. World renown judge." She takes a bit of turkey. "Katherine tells us that you're a hockey player right?"

Rohan nods, "Yeah started when I was about 5."

Uncle Cheston cough, "So your going pro like Katherine?"

He nods but says nothing more and casts glances at me.

I turn to uncle Cheston, "He's with the Blackhawks."

Uncle Cheston nods but dad interrupts. "Really?" Dad sonds actually confused, "I must've heard wrong, Fred, the scout for the Boston Bruins said you'd called him and reaccepted his offer."

I almost drop my fork.

Rohan stutters, "Uh, yeah. Yeah I did last night." I can feel his gaze on the side of my face but I won't meet it.

It's like the table didn't realize the new tension between me and Rohan. Dinner ends and I quickly help with the dishes before I can't take anymore and tell mom I need to go home, she offers to come with me but I just order a taxi again.

Rohan joins me but again like yesterday we don't talk the entire way. The hour and a half drive is tension filled. Only when we get home is it broken.

"So what was that about communication, huh." I mock as I go to storm upstairs.

"Let me explain, Katherine." I hear him follow.

I spin, "Explain what? How you lied to me." He goes to talk but I interrupts, "Don't. Omission is still lying." I throw my hands in the air, "I'm not even mad about that. What I am mad about is that you didn't tell me that you'd passes on your dream team!"

"Kath━"

"I mean why would you do that?! You told me that you dreamed of playing for the Blackhawks since you were 7! And now you just give that up, why?"

His lips thin, though he looks like he wants to say something.

I step closer, "Why, Rohan?!"

I barely get that sentence when Rohan bursts, "Because I love you!"

I stumble backwards.

"I reaccepted Boston's offer because it was closer to you. I couldn't stomach being states away because I see a future with you. I want a future with you."

He takes a step closer, "You asked me 2 months ago whether or not I believed in love and I said no. I said that because I had no reason to believe, I'd never had a chance. But now that I've had a chance to experience that love, I realize that I now believe, and that's because of you."

He's right in front of me now, "I have fallen in love with your stubbornness. Your ambition, Your laugh and smile. Your energy. I've even fallen in love with your morning grouchiness."

"I love you more than my fucking dream team Katherine, without you nearby it's not a dream it. It's hell."

I smile at that. I reach up and cup his jaw.

How did I get so lucky?

I feel myself tearing up. I press my forehead to Rohan's, "I love you too." I whisper and I can feel Rohan smile before I'm suddenly hoisted up into his arms.

I laugh but it's cut short when Rohan presses his lips onto mine. "I love you, Katherine Alexandra Cali Mitchell."

My smile widens.
