《Colliding Ambition》Chapter 5

"Can I get a large coffee, 1 cream, 2 sugars." I ask as I take out my wallet but someone beats me to the pay.
"Add a small black coffee." A male voice says as he drops a 10 dollar bill on the cart. I look up and see Chase Jackson. He's wearing faded jeans, a Delcour hoodie with his hockey jacket unziped, his floppy blonde hair is under a Bruins cap, and god is he muscular.
"It's fine, I can pay for it." I mutter as I take out a five dollar bill.
"Put your money away, Kitty." He says sternly. I roll my eyes because I know hockey players are stubborn because I am stubborn and a hockey player, so I put my money and wallet away.
"Don't call me that, Katherine works." I sigh.
He look at me at as his lips curve, "I think I like Kitty." At my facial expression he says, "Platonic, your hot and all but Coach will kick my ass━any of our asses, if we fuck or even kiss you so this," He gestures between us, "Is totally platonic."
I smirk, "And what is this?"
The coffee guy gives us our coffee, and I start walking to class then I remember were both in lit.
"A friendship." He says brightly.
"Whatever."
He's silent for a second, "I'm wondering, why now. Why tryout for the team now?" He asks.
"Um.. well I just transferred 2 weeks ago from Columbia so I missed the window for the girls team. I wasn't even considering trying out for the boys team but Coach emailed me, and well yeah." I say, taking a sip of my coffee.
"Woah Columbia, why'd you transfer?" He now takes a sip of his coffee.

"Well I didn't like the team over there and that's all that matters to me. But Delcour has a stellar hockey rep, so I transferred even if it meant waiting until junior year."
"How did your dad react to you transferring? Doesn't he live in New York now?"
I nod, "He does, and he didn't like the idea but he supports me, both my parents do and when I explained my not liking the team he understood. Plus I missed my bestfriend."
That gets his attention, "Wait you went to Columbia while your bestfriend went to Delcour? Who's your bestfriend?"
I know that look, "Woah there buddy, she has a boyfriend so keep your dick to single girls, and far away from my bestfriend." I warn, Chase give a devilish smile as we finally arrive to lit class.
I go to my normal seat, beside Diana but Chase doesn't go to his usual seat in the back, instead he plops down beside me.
I just ignore him but Diana is stunned. "Why's he sitting with us?" She whispers.
"Cause he's stalking me." I whisper back but loud enough for Chase to hear me.
I hear Chase snort.
I roll my eyes.
🏒 🏒 🏒
Before I go to hockey I stop by the apartment to change out of my jeans. As I'm leaving my phone rings and I see my dad's number. I told my parents about my getting on the team, they're ecstatic, especially my dad.
I answer and I go over to the fridge and grab a water bottle. "Hey dad."
"Hey, princess." His voices comes through.
"What's up?" I say grabbing my keys.
"Nothing, just wanted to see how your day was."
"Was good, classes were good, going to practice now."

"Okay then I won't keep you, love you princess."
"Love you dad.
🏒 🏒 🏒
After I'm showered and changed in grey sweats and a lululemon long sleeve, I put on my brand new hockey jacket and leave the visitors locker room. And just as I do that Rohan is exiting the 'home' locker room.
I walk past him, "So how was I? Up to your standards." I mock, because I know for a fact he doesn't think I'm good.
He mumbles something that sounds like curses, and I smirk.
I'm walking up to my truck as I hear someone yell, "Kitty!" Chase yells was he runs up to me as I put my hockey bag in the box of my truck.
"What's up?" I ask, shutting the box.
"There's a party tomorrow at one of the sorority houses, you going?" He leans against my truck.
"I don't know, I don't really party."
"You don't party?" His eyebrows go up.
I stammer, "No I do, I just don't do it often."
"C'mon when was the last time you went to one?" When I stay silent, he beams. "Your going, it's tomorrow night at Chi Omega, bring your best friend, Lexi?" He smirks, I just roll my eyes.
"I'll see." I say before walking to get into my truck.
