August accepted the call with a grimace on her face. Niko's face immediately appeared, his eyes practically bulging out of his skull.

"WHAT THE FUCK, AUGUST?"

She grinned innocently at her best friend.

"What?"

"How did you know that Taylor Swift followed me on instagram– wait, hold on, why the fuck did Taylor Swift follow me on instagram?"

August ran her hand through her hair awkwardly, trying to think of what to tell him.

"Well, she kind of wanted to see pictures of me during my emo phase, so she stalked my account until she found yours to see if you had any and—"

Niko cut her off, his voice way too high. "SHE— WHAT? YOU'RE TALKING TO TAYLOR SWIFT?"

August let out a small laugh. Honestly, she could hardly believe it herself. For the past week, Taylor Swift had actually been answering her DMs. In fact, sometimes, she had even initiated the conversations.

It felt like a fever dream.

The worst part of it all was that Taylor Swift was actually a hilarious person to text. Who knew millennials could be so fun? She wasn't one to obsess over celebrities but she could definitely see the appeal of the singer. She really was as nice as everyone always said she was.

"No," she told Niko, rolling her eyes at him. "We just sort of like, send DMs. Nothing big."

"Oh my gosh, August, I'm gonna murder you," Niko cried out. "Nothing big" He mocked her. "Then how the fuck does she know about your emo phase? I was never made aware of that phase of your life until our junior year of college! She found that out a whole week after finding out you exist!"

August smirked at him playfully. "Are you jealous?"

Niko had absolutely no shame in responding, "UH, YEAH! Of course, I am. As a raging bisexual, you know Taylor Swift is my whole entire religion and you're talking to her!"

August burst out laughing, grinning at him widely.

"I bet you're happy I dragged you to her tour a few years ago," Niko told her and August smiled, shrugging lightly.

"I was always happy to go with you," she responded and before Niko could say something, she added, "Even though I know I complained the entire time before the show and after. I just had a reputation to uphold."

Niko scoffed and rolled his eyes at her. "Okay, sure. You owe me three weeks worth of coffee for making me sit through that for two whole hours!"

August scrunched her nose at him. "Listen— I— I did enjoy it, I'll admit it."

"I FUCKING KNEW IT!"

They both burst out laughing at her revelation and Niko ran his fingers through his curls, messing his hair up even more.

"So, what, are you like gonna start dating her now or something?" He teased her and August chuckled.

"Isn't she like dating some guy right now?" She asked, remembering some article about 'Taylor Swift's New Beau!' which might have been released any time between three years ago and a week ago. She had no idea.

Niko chuckled and shook his head. "As far as I know, they broke up a few months ago. I don't know if there's anyone else in her life. Why don't you ask her, since you guys are like besties now?"

August grinned, wiggling her eyebrows playfully at him. "Alright. But isn't she like incredibly straight or something?"

"I'm sorry, have you listened to her songs?"

"No."

"She's definitely like at least bi."

"Maybe I should go ahead and analyse her songs," she murmured thoughtfully, closing the facetime app so she could scroll through her instagram page.

She liked a few posts here and there and left a few comments on her friends' pictures.

"I'll send you a playlist," Niko told her and August chuckled.

"Yeah, please do that." She said that so monotonously, but it didn't matter to Niko. He was definitely going to send her that playlist she knew he had already made a long time ago for this exact occasion.

"Alright, I'm gonna go freak out about Taylor Swift following me while crying to Lover. I'll talk to you tomorrow," he said and August smiled at him.

"Night, dumb ass," she teased him and instead of answering, Niko just ended the call. With a small laugh, August picked up her acoustic guitar and started doodling around until she came up with a fun riff which she played until she finally fell asleep.
