Chapter 48- High School Hell. (Part One)

This is the day that everyone was dreading.

Most importantly, this is the day I was dreading. I groaned and stabbed my pancake breakfast. A chuckle came from behind me.

"Stop being such a pain in the ass Zara," James joked.

"I hate high schools," I cried. He laughed and sat down next to me.

"It'll be fine Zara," he reassured me, "I've been going here for...what five years, and it's not all that bad. You just have to listen to all the teachers and do your homework," he continued in a playful manner. I rolled my eyes at him before I felt a pair of arms around my waist.

"Will you quit complaining already?" Lucas grumbled "gosh you're making me not want to go to this hellhole even more." I laughed and spun around giving him a hug.

"You and me both, bro," I mumbled to him making us both laugh as I stepped away from him. I looked over Lucas' shoulder and saw Hayden standing there leaning against the wall. I made my way over to him and he smirked at me.

"What?"

"It's amazing how you just come to me, even when I don't call you," Hayden said confidently.

I rolled my eyes at him, "and it's amazing how you can get sent to sleep in your office tonight with that attitude." He laughed and wrapped his arms around me pulling me closer to his chest.

"My apologizes your highness," he whispered in my ear. I wrapped my arms around his neck and connected my lips to his.

"Oi, lovebirds, brother still in the room," Lucas interrupted. Hayden sighed and pulled away from me.

"You know," Hayden started, "I can have you removed from my property, Ferrari."

"Which Ferrari?" Lucas smirked at him.

"You of all people should know I'm not talking about your sister," Hayden told him before quickly pecking my lips again, "let's go guys. We're gonna be late!" Shuffles came downstairs and we all went outside. A few people that I saw at the introduction party were there waving or bowing respectfully as Hayden and I passed them to get to the cars. Even as a child, I didn't like the whole 'bowing-to-your-Alpha' think. It just looks...weird.

We all chatted easily in the car as we pulled up in the 'school'. Well, it looked pretty decent. The building itself was huge and there were students crowding the parking lot. As soon as we entered the parking lot, the crowd cleared and made way. I looked over at Hayden, not really surprised.

"Again I say, being Alpha has its perks," Hayden said feeling my intense stare. Wow, so he basically gets treated like royalty here. I got my stuff and was about to unbuckle my seatbelt but Hayden's voice stopped me.

"Hey, can't I help my mate get out of the car on her first day?" he rhetorically asked, "I do enjoy making an entrance." I laughed and shrugged my shoulders. He grinned and walked around to my side of the car, opening the door and holding his arm out for me. I rolled my eyes at his stupidity but went along with his 'act' none the less. When I stepped out the car, I heard small gasps all over the place. Wow, I'm guessing Hayden is Mr. Popular here...I mean, all the attention is on him.

"Told you it would make a great entrance," he whispered in my ear closing the car door behind me. I nodded and looked around the parking lot where everyone was. All conversations stopped and they just looked at us...

"So, you're a super star here too?" Lucas came over and said. He got a ride with Conner since Hayden decided to drive his sports car today.

"Don't hate the player," he said while flipping his hair out of his eyes. I didn't miss the girls that giggled at him from across the parking lot. I growled in their direction and they quickly averted their eyes.

"Well, isn't someone jealous?" Natalya joked as she made her way up to us.

"I'm sure they were all at the meeting to know that he has a mate," I simply said. She just gave me a wink and hugged me. I froze when I noticed something different about her scent. I smelt her again to make sure then pulled back to look at her, but she was already blushing. That alone confirmed my thoughts.

"You guys fully mated?" I asked her and she flushed some more then nodded. I squealed and hugged her.

"Oh, I'm so happy for you guys. It must have been so awesome--"

"Quit killing her, will you?" Bryon came over and pulled Natalya out of my hold.

"You better take care of my woman mister," I threatened Bryon with a playful glare and one finger pointed at him. He laughed and wrapped his arms around her.

"I will always take care of her," Bryon said, more to Natalya than to me. She smiled and leaned to kiss him.

"Is everyone gonna be this kissy-kissy this morning?" Lucas grumbled his way over here, Hayden laughing behind him. He walked behind me and wrapped one arm around me.

"Why are we all smiling at each other?" Hayden asked me.

"Smell around and find out," I told him. He sniffed the air and again then looked at Bryon and Natalya in shock.

"You guys are full mates?" he asked. It was clear that he was completely shocked, but there was something else in his voice that I didn't quite pick up.

"Yeah, it feels amazing," Natalya said with a smile on her face.

"That's great you guys," Hayden said. He smiled at them but it didn't quite reach his eyes. I knew something was off with him. Then, the school bell rang and Lucas groaned beside me. Everyone started going inside little by little.

"School," he groaned and I laughed at him.

"Why don't you go find Maddison or something?" I teased him. His eyes went wide and his grin was from ear to ear.

"She goes here?"

"Alright, before you go on a wild goose chase, let's go get your schedules," Natalya said looking at me.

"You guys go on, I'll catch up in a minute," I told her. She looked at me curiously then just shrugged it off and they, along with the rest of the Midnight Shadows pack. I turned around in Hayden's hold and looked up at him.

"What wrong?" I asked him.

"What's wrong? I have no idea what you're talking about Zara," he answered and I narrowed my eyes at him. My arms went around his neck as I stared into his brown eyes.

"Ok, you have told me the lie. Now I want the truth,"

"Zara, it just..." he sighed, "...it's just seeing Bryon and Nat mated it just got me a little jealous."

I raised my eyebrow at him, "Jealous?"

"Yeah, they got together after us. And, I don't know...it just got to me,"

"Oh,"

He groaned when he saw a pout on my face, "Zara, I'm sorry, okay. That's what was bugging me. A man has needs too, you know." I laughed a his joke and he leaned down to kiss me, "Zara, I'll wait until eternity for you ok, remember that."

I nodded and pulled away from him, "Let's go get my schedule then." We walked in the school doors, down the halls going to the main office. Hayden had placed his on my lower back, guiding me because my arms were folded across my chest. I feel so guilty. Hayden wanted a mate that could offer everything to him, and he got me. The scarred girl who was afraid to let anyone touch her in that way because of her past. My wolf was nagging me, telling me to let us mate already, but my mind wouldn't allow it. Every time we get there, I pull away and tell him that it's too soon or we're going to fast. I could do anything else; talk freely, be a sarcastic smart-mouth...anything. The one thing I was afraid to do was to have sex. I didn't want him to be disgusted with what was left of my body. That rape really messed with my---

"Hay Hay!" a voice squealed. I turned around and saw a girl running to Hayden. She slammed into his chest and full-on kiss him. KISS HIM! Right in front of me! This chick has got to be kidding me. I growled when she wrapped her arms and legs around him. Before I killed this girl, I pulled her off Hayden and threw her on the floor.

"Mine!" I growled possessively at her. She glared at me then stood up and looked at Hayden with a pout on her face.

"Hay Hay, are you going to let her talk to me like that?" She walked slowly over to him, running her nails on his chest. I didn't get the chance to unleash my wrath on her because Hayden grabbed her arm and threw it off him.

"Miley, what are you doing here?" he asked, "I thought you moved to Australia."

"Yeah, I did, but my dad got back a job here so he went and asked your dad for permission to move back here. Isn't that great? Now we can go back to being us." This b!tch is really messing with my temper. You would think after being thrown on the floor she would learn her lesson. I stepped in front of Hayden before he could answer her, and pushed her back.

"That is never, in a million years, going to happen," I said coldly.

"Hayden, I'm getting seriously pissed off now with this clingy chick. Can't she just leave us alone,"

I was going to punch her, I swear I was going to punch her, but Hayden grabbed my arm and wrapped his free arm around my waist.

"Miley, this is Zara, my mate and if you say one more disrespectful thing towards her, then I will personally deal with you and ensure you go back to where you came from," he threatened and I smug look appeared on my face. Yeah, he's mine so beat it b!tch. When he saw she was out of sight, he spun me around in his arms and looked at me.

"Zara, I'm so sorry. I had no idea she was going to be here and---"

I interrupted him putting my palm over his mouth, "Its fine. It's just...that crazy delusional b!tch," I mumbled which made him laugh.

"You're pretty hot when you're jealous," he commented. I fake smiled at him then flipped him off.

"Let's go to the main office before she comes back, because I will kill her if she touches you again," I said and we walked hand in hand on the way there. The halls were completely empty while we were walking there, but there was a huge crowd standing there. Being all high and mightily, Hayden passed them with ease.

"Welcome back Alpha," the lady at the front desk said with a pleasant smile. Then she turned to me, "Welcome Luna."

"So when I said I was an Alpha," Lucas started, "did that just fly through your ear or..."

"Well, there are some Alphas higher than you," Hayden said cheekily, "plus you're the newbie."

"Haha, very funny,"

"Have you all got schedules?" a chorus of agreements came up and Hayden nodded and looked down at me. Then we both went up and got my schedule while the others were looking at there, seeing who had classes with whom and so on. When I got it, I quickly looked it over and was pleased with most of the classes I had.

"Alright, let's get going to homeroom. I have an announcement to make to the entire school," Hayden said, his voice full of authority. Lucas grunted but walked out anyway.

"Let hell begin," I muttered.
