Chapter 42- Get Your Head In The Game.
James' POV
Lilly and I were taking a stroll in the woods, hand in hand but now we were turning back to the cabins. We were discussing her and her past life before me.
"So what happened to your mother?" I asked. She sighed and looked away from me.
"She was the mate of Alpha Carlos' father, but he passed away giving the Alpha title to his son, Carlos. That's when everything went downhill for her because he locked her up and continually starved her for absolutely no reason. He would often beat her in front of me, just to show me who was the boss and---"
"So what were your connections with him?"
"He was....my boyfriend before I found out that my mom was with his dad. We weren't blood related though but because of the relationship with my mother and his father, I ended the relationship," I told him then continued from where I left off, "he didn't really take the break up well and that where he started to show more of his vicious side and well---"
"He didn’t hit you did he?" I asked with venom hanging from my words. She shook my head.
"No, he didn't but he had control over me. He would often trick me into having...sex with him because I know he would hurt my mother badly if I didn't. One day, I went and told one of the counsellors from the pack but all he did was turn his back at me. An old lady from behind the scenes had heard my story and completely believed it. She told me that I should defend myself or try to get another pack's help, but the forces against me were too powerful. Too intense to do anything about. I still kept seeing that woman though; she helped me realize that among the bad, you will always have some good."
"But then she was killed. The counsellor I had gone to had been lurking around me under the
Alpha's command and saw that I had lied to the Alpha, deceived him, and that I was having a secret meeting with her. Alpha Carlos took that very badly because, to him, whatever problem I was having, I should have came to him. He wanted us to have that kind of relationship again."
"So, he killed her?" I asked in disbelief. F*cking crazy Alpha. He didn't even deserve it from the way he was treating her.
"Yes, I didn't even get a chance to say I was sorry. I was out one day and when I came back, I told Alpha Carlos that I was going to see her, stupid of me to say but I did anyway...not wanting to anger him, but he just told me bluntly that she was dead and that he killed her so we could have more time together. Can you believe that's what he told me?" she asked rhetorically, "I mean how can you just say stuff like that so care freely?" I put my arms around her waist and she clung to my side. We were now approaching the grand field.
"So what happened after that?"
"Well there was this day when I had all hopes on high. A chief member of the council had been having some complaints about the leadership quality of Alpha Carlos---"
"You don't have to say 'Alpha Carlos' you know," I told her with a sad smile on my lips. She smiled back at me then looked down and apologized.
"Yeah, when the council came, Al...uhh...Carlos had told me to be on my best behaviour, but I just couldn't resist the mere temptation of help coming my way. I told them about the abuse and all the tricks he was playing. Of course the council didn't believe this at first, but then I brought them down to the cells underground and showed them all the unpleasant things being done to the captives. They were prisoners yes, but there was no rule that stated that you had to treat them that badly. In fact, most of them weren't even suppose to be down there. Normally you lock up a person for...theft, stealing, treason etc. but he locked up a person for merely disagreeing with his terms. Its like we were under strict dictatorship." By now we had arrived on the camp fire site. No one was out here except us, probably all at lunch. It was about four thirty now though.
"Is he still the Alpha there?"
"Not at that territory, but he managed to form a group of rouges and he plans to take out all his revenge, anger and vengeance on anyone who stands in his way of getting what he wants."
"And what does he want?" I asked sarcastically," what more could that bastard want?"
"Me,"

Jonah's POV
'So what are you doing right now?' I sent Jenna via text. We haven't...well I haven't marked her yet nor mated with her so I got to work with what I have. The world of texting.
'Nothing, I'm bored,' she sent back. I rolled my eyes. Girls get so bored so easily.
'Wanna come outside with me?' I quickly sent then got my sneakers on. I felt the phone vibrate almost instantly and I chuckled.
'You bet'cha :),' she sent. I laughed and then got up. Only then did I notice that the guys were looking at me weirdly. I was hanging out with the Redwood pack so we were basically chilling and playing games.
"Sorry guys gotta bail," I told them.
"Oh come on Smith, you can't bail on us now. We're gonna plan the teams now," Bryon begged.
"I'll be back; I just gotta go see my girl,"
"Oh, I see how it is now. Because you got a girl now, that's how it's gonna be," Bryon said, "it should be bro's before hoe's dude."
"Oh, is it?" a voice from the staircase intervened.
"Well...uhh...babe, that's not what I meant....it wasn't meant like that, you know...."
"Mhmm," Natalya said before going through the door. Bryon cursed and followed her through the door. The guys were laughing their asses off and I told them I'll see them later.
"Now you see why I gotta go to my girl?" I asked rhetorically before leaving.
I met Jenna at the lake sitting down with her feet in the water. I walked up to her silently hoping to spook her, but as soon as the words were suppose to come out my mouth, she spoke.
"I know you're behind me Jonah," she said.
"Dammit," I whispered to myself then sat down behind her, "I was really hoping I would spook you this time."
"You're forgetting that, one I'm a werewolf...and two, the boards creaked while you were walking towards me and three, I saw your reflection in the water," she said laughing. I sighed and put my arms around her.

"Still bored?"
"Yeah, pretty much," she answered, "though I do have an idea." She spun around to look at me then placed her lips on mine. No hesitations, I kissed her back on full force. She pushed me down on the dock and straddled me. My hand instantly went to her waist as I steadied her. I bit down on her lip asking for entrance and she gladly opened her mouth, allowing our tongues to collide. My hands ran up and down her back and she moaned then I felt her hand come against my cheek. Somehow, my hands found its way under her blouse and I was afraid I might have gone too far, but she just shivered at my sudden touch. She returned the favour unexpectedly by running her hand under my T-shirt. I groaned as she shifted herself against me then my hold tightened on her.
All of a sudden, Jenna was pulled from me. I growled and glared upwards to who had interrupted us but rolled my eyes when I saw James standing there with a smirk on his face.
"Oh, did I interrupt something Jo-Jo?" James asked as his smirk grew wider. I sighed missing Jenna's touch but got up none the less.
"Thought you said you would leave us alone?" I grumbled.
"Yeah, well remember I also said it was after her birthday, and also I didn't say I was going to leave you both alone completely, only adjusting the rules and watching---"
"You mean stalking," Jenna and I both said in union. James rolled his eyes at the both of us.
"Whatever you call it," he responded, "but I know for a fact, it's not until next week so until then the same rules apply."
"James, come one. Can't I kiss my mate? You get to kiss yours," Jenna argued.
"Yeah, well she's not Jonah's little sister now, is she?"
"Whatever dude," Jonah said.
"We're gonna go get ready for the big football match," James said then chuckled, "not that we have anything to worry about."
"Oh, we'll see," Lilly said from beside him.
...............................................................................................................
Later that Evening...
It's football time now. We were gathered on the field paired up and all, only to be told that Aunt Becky and Uncle Jerry would be the ones pairing us off into teams. There would be two equal teams of both boys and girls so you know who to pass the ball to mainly in order to gain more points, but for the most part it was a boy vs. girl match.
"Alright, I'm sure by now that you all must have heard that Uncle Jerry along with myself will be picking the teams so, spilt up the lot of you," Aunt Becky said to us as soon as everyone had gathered. Grumbling came about, but we spilt ourselves none the less.
"Alright, here is team one, the girls' team: Zara, Maddison, Alice, Abigale, Charlotte, Karen, Samantha, Harper, Gina, Lola, Lexie, Danielle and...Kandice." They all grouped themselves and waited for the other half of the girls’ team to be announced.
"Probably I should say who you guys are going against," Aunt Becky said turning to Zara. Zara nodded as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Alright, the boys' team one consists of: Lucas, Conner, Gavin, Hayden, Travis, Cory, Miles, Demetri, Tryon, Neil, Andrew and Logan. The first girl's team has a one point advantage but in the second teams, the boys will gain the advantage."
"The second girls' team is: Natalya, Annabelle, Avery, Paige, Angelina, Lizzie, Maya, Lilly, Jenna, Alexiandria, Krissy and Diamond. And last but not least, the boys' second team is: Max, Collin, Bryon, Xavier, Oshane, Jonah, James, Sean, Kane, Zack, Keneil, Alexander and Seth."
"Everyone gathered and familiarized with their team?" Aunt Becky asked and a chorus of 'yes's' went around.
"Ok, so to make sure we are clear on how the game works. It's regular football, girls against boys, but both teams are split in two. Passing the ball to a member of your team gains the team additional points as well as actually scoring the goal. However the generally aim of the game is to win, it doesn't focus on who you pass the ball to. Understood?" she asked.
"so basically, we're just playing ball?" Cory asked. She nodded.
"Basically,"
"Alright, let's play ball!" Zack shouted out.
...............................................................................................................
Lucas' POV
This first half of the game was going to start any moment now. We were all planning on what we were going to be doing later on after the match. No one was really focussed on the girls because...well, their girls; they don't have a clue about football. Ha-ha, they don't even know how to pass a ball much less make a score.
"Hey, who's that?" Miles asked pointing behind me. I turned around and saw two women and two men standing there, all greeting Becky and Jerry. They looked much in their early thirties but that must have been because of their wolf genes. They walked over to us, looking at us with huge smiles on their faces.
"Oi Hayden!" one of the men shouted out. Hayden laughed, got up and walked over to them.
"What's up Uncle Paul?" Hayden asked as he bumped fists with him then turned to the other man, "Steve, what's happening?"
"Becca called us and asked us to be referees for your little game," the one named Steve explained.
"Although there's no question who's gonna win," Paul said.
"You know it," Hayden stated.
"Cocky bastard," Zara exclaimed and all the girls popped out in laughter.
"Well, you gonna let some girl talk to you like that, mate? Where has all the Alpha strength gone?" Paul asked shocked.
"Well, she's the only one who can get away with that," Hayden stated.
"Oh really now?" I asked. He looked over at me.
"And partially him because he is my mate's brother," Hayden said as he rolled his eyes, "but he's forgetting the fact that I am the one who gave him part of my land in the first place," he exclaimed directing his gaze straight at me. It was my turn to roll my eyes.
"Whatever man,"
"You never mentioned a mate to us, son," Steve said surprised, "well, where's the lucky chick?" Hayden pointed over to Zara as she waved like a crazy person. I laughed and covered my face. Typical behaviour for Zara Ferrari...
"Well, she's beautiful Hayden, but she's looks a little crazy," Paul said with a grin on his face.
"Believe me, she is," Bryon shouted.
"Well if it isn't Mister Smart mouth. Get your but over here and come greet your elderly," Steve said. Bryon laughed and they did a fist-bump.
"Alright, since you have greeted and had your fun, can we play the game now?" Becky asked.
"She's always been a pain in the ass," mumbled Paul as he walked away to go and change.
"Love you too brother dearest," she called out to him then looked back at all of us, "well are you all just going to sit there and look at me. Go change!" Everyone got up and went to the cabins for clothes then met in one cabin. The girls met in Cabin A and the guys in Cabin B.
"What color are we wearing?" Logan asked.
"What color?" James asked laughing, "man you sound like a girl. Next you're gonna ask what should we do with our nails," he continued as he spoke in a high-pitched voice. I chuckled at their behaviour.
"See, Lucas agrees with me," James said.
"Shouldn't we have a signature look?" Logan asked.
"Yes, we should," Hayden said as he entered the room.
"Seeeee," Logan taunted. I rolled my eyes and looked around at them as I crossed my arms.
"Well, what color are the guys wearing then?" I asked them.
"Red," Gavin answered as he entered the room. Max came in behind him and threw a red T-shirt at me. I easily caught it and quickly slipped it on.
"Well, how are we gonna tell the two boy teams differently if we're all wearing the same color?" I asked them.
"That's the hard part," Hayden said, "alright everyone outside. Ready to hustle!" he shouted out then turned to me.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" I raised my eyebrow at his question but nodded none the less.
"What's the problem?" I asked him.
"Look since we're on the same team, plus we're two of the Alphas on the team, we should be working together. So let's put all the...dislike aside for the game ok. Deal?" He held out his hand for me to shake and I looked at it then looked up at him.
"Besides, I really don't want to be kicking your ass and focusing on beating the girls as well," he added.
I laughed and shook his hand, "Deal, but I'm pretty sure you already know who would've kicked who's ass."
"Right," he said sarcastically.
"Let's play some ball...shall we," I exclaimed as we both walked outside. All the guys huddled outside and planned out the game plan. Pretty simple plan...
And the game began.
Demetri ran across the field as he passed the ball to Miles. One extra point. Miles then threw the ball hesitantly to James but Natalya jumped in and caught it. She passed it to Ange and she tried to run pass me but I caught her and tackled her.
"You really thought you could outrun me Ange?" I asked with a smirk on my face. She shook her head at me but there was a smile on her face.
"You're Alpha for a reason, you know," she responded then went back to the girls.
"Nice tackle," Gavin commented as he bumped fists with me.
"Thanks,"
"Alright, nice work on Ferrari's part but we need to make more blocks. Something tells me the girls have something up their sleeves," Alexander said.
"Something up their sleeves?" Hayden asked his voice filled with amusement, "they're girls. What could they possibly know about football?" We all laughed at this then the game begun again. The ball was served again and it Zara who caught the ball. She ran as fast as she could and passed it to Maddison. She ran as far from me as possible but as soon as I caught up to her, she had passed the ball Karen. Dammit, that's three extra points for the girls so far. Karen ran up to the mid centre of the goal but was blocked by James. She winked at him before throwing the ball to Jenna. James ran right up to her but when he got to her, she threw the ball to Maya. Both Seth and Conner ran after the ball when Conner saw that Maya was going to throw it to Abigale. However, the ball was caught in the air by Max. Now that's what I'm talking about! Max ran in the opposite direction to the girl's goal with a line of girls defending it. He saw an opportunity and passed the ball to Travis. Travis ran further and passed the ball to Gavin. Bad move there because....wait, he caught the ball! Gavin ran to the girls’ goal and scored! Touchdown!
The guys all cheered and bumped fists with each other. Max came over at me grinning. I laughed with him and did a fist-bump.
"Nice throw," I congratulated him.
"Thanks dude," he responded.
We got back in our positions and the game started again. This time around, Alexandria caught the ball. I ran up to her and I could see Kane running from the other side. She quickly threw the ball at Natalya. She easily caught it and Bryon made an attempt to trap her and get it, but it was too late. She passed the ball to Annabelle. Xavier ran as fast as he could to her but the ball went over his head. He tried to catch it, but it was just too high. I'm guessing the ball was supposed to go to Diamond, but Gina caught it instead. She ran towards our goal but was blocked by Miles and Max. She turned to go left but that direction was blocked by Alexander. She quickly threw the ball at Danielle. She took the advantage of the boys being distracted to where the ball went and ran straight in the goal. She screamed and all the girls went over and hugged her.
"Guys seriously?" I asked as I walked up to Alexander. Miles ran a hand through his hair.
"When the hell did she even throw the ball over my head?" he asked and I chuckled.
"Stop making googly eyes at her and pay attention," Alexander stated. A whistle was blown and we all came to a stop. Becky came forward and spoke.
"Alright, that was a fair part of the game. The points so far are:
Girls: Scores made- 1; Extra Points Gained- 7
Boys: Scores made- 1; Extra Points Gained- 1.
One point? What the hell! All the girls started laughing and cheering among themselves. How can we just have one extra point? I thought over all the passes that we made and noticed that we had only passed the ball to our connect team ONCE. God dammit guys!

Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero (Update 09/19/21)
(Updated 09/19/21) Hello and welcome. If you made it this far and the book title sounds interesting, I'm hoping you'll read a few chapters. Here's a sample from chapter 1 of "Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero."Slowly starting to wake up, I become aware. It's like coming out of a fog.Head hurts.Body hurts. There's a conversation in the room. This isn't my bed. Someone is touching my arm. I crack my eyes to look. She doesn't notice. Is she praying for me? Her hands do feel good…do feel... Slipping back unconscious, my eyes slowly close. I didn't notice the soft green glow under Jenn’s hands.*******************"It does look like he saved them or at least stalled them long enough for us to get there." says the man dressed more like a park ranger than an officer of the law. "I did think he was part of it at first" he continues "but the evidence shows he wasn't there and they were certainly fighting on that back road where we found them""I don't care who he is." says a woman as she enters the room. "He saved and protected my Jenn. I will make sure there's not a mark or a scar on him before he leaves". As she continues the few steps over to the men speaking, even though dressed simply in common clothes, there is no doubt the race of elves is in her heritage. The grace and lines of her form. The elegance and lightness of her step. She glances at her daughter, still watching over the young man in the bed. "Do we know who he is yet?" she asks no one in particular."Not yet dear" a man in a white coat responds. A handsome middle-aged man. Fit, but not that of a fighter or ranger. "I asked Talon to bring another identification stone with him. I was hoping ours was just broke, but it's reading the same.""What do you think is wrong?" Talon asks."I'm thinking we just have to wait until he recovers. I have heard of cases where the stone didn't work. Powerful spells can hide or wipe a person clean. I doubt he's a spy or a criminal. Spells like that are just too high level if, they're used at all. My best guess is, there is just some disconnect with him being unconscious. When he wakes, we can ask him or use the stone again then."I find myself waking up in a hospital bed. The attending Doctor finds it odd that he cannot identify my class. An Officer says I’m a Hero for saving a girl from being kidnapped, but he’s asking too many questions for my liking. I know an accusing tone when I hear it. I don’t remember any of it and I need to find my way home.Author’s notes. Original work. First draft and update of chapters 1-16. Inspired by various fantasy games and books. Written with a focus on character development and interaction. Combat, progression, leveling, classes, but no numbers or stats. I’ll try to keep the language clean, PG-13, no smut. I’m in the US, writing in English. Almost fifty chapters are completed as I pen this introduction. I intend to complete this story or at least bring it to a proper ending. I have a destination in mind. I find as I write, doors and ideas open, while others close and are discarded. The tentative release schedule will be once a week. I'm new to creating. My apologies now while I learn. I have not settled on a book cover or artwork, still looking for something that fits. Registered & Protected #20VjeKDv2U6nynW6
