Chapter 34- Camping Trip (Day 1)

Hayden's POV

We all loaded up in our separate cars, but it was still unsure to which car we would be 'giving' to the Midnight Shadows. Zara looked among the vehicles to decide wish was the largest to fit all of them. We were supposed to be meeting the Redwood Pack at the field an hour ago, yet we still haven't left the pack house.

"How about that one?" she asked me. I sighed and looked over to where she was pointing. It was a black 2006 Mercedes Benz G55 AMG. It seemed big enough to carry Zara and me but I'm sure it won't carry our other...passengers.

"Alright, I've had enough of this," Conner finally said, "My car's free for about two or three passengers so let’s get moving." The pair that was mated, I think their names were Oshane and Angeline went to go with them. The other female of that pack also followed. That just left us with Zara's brother and the guys named Sean and Max.

Great, just great. Please notice the HIGH level of sarcasm.

"Ok, well that problem is solved so let’s get moving, shall we?" Zara said as she climbed in the passenger’s seat. I walked to the driver's side and started the car. Let’s hope this drive would be peaceful and quiet.

"You did not just insult me!" screamed Lucas from the back. I was trying so hard not to snap but they just made it harder. My hands gripped the stirring wheel tighter and I narrowed my eyes on the road. I could hear laugher from the back and I saw Zara poke her tongue out at him.

"Yes, I so did!"

"You're so gonna pay for that," Lucas growled and before I knew it he had his hand around her neck. I growled warningly at them and pulled the brakes on the car. The tires screeched to a stop and I turned to glare at them.

"Zara, can we talk outside for a second?" I asked her trying to be calm then stepped out of the car. I heard her door slam and she stepped up to me.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"What's wrong? You're seriously asking that Zara?" I asked then breathed to try and calm myself down, "Look, I really didn't want to stop them and their childish act but when Lucas grabbed your neck, I had to put a stop to it."

"Hayden, can you just loosen up a bit...please," she pleaded as she wrapped her hands around my waist and put her head on my chest. I sighed and wrapped my arms around her waist.

"What if he had hurt you Zara?" I whispered in her ear.

"Hayden, he wouldn't have hurt me; he's my brother," she answered me.

"I still can't trust them,"

"Well, can you trust me?" she asked pulling back. What kind of question is that? Of course I can trust her. In fact, she's one of the main persons I trust in this pack. She's my everything.

"Of course I trust you,"

"Then if you trust me, you can definitely trust my brother. And if he trusts his pack, then we can all trust them. You can't keep out persons because you're afraid to trust them," she said, "C'mon we have a camping trip to go to." I smiled then we both walked back to the car. When we got in, Zara surprised me when she asked Lucas and his friends to keep down the noise so we could get there faster. I looked at her shocked and she just winked at me. I chuckled at her then went back to driving.

"You guys are an hour and a half late," Bryon grumbled when we all arrived there. I grinned sheepishly at him.

"We were held up,"

"Oh please don't tell me you and your precious mate had a little 'fun' before you guys decided to leave," Bryon said making Zara laugh as soon as she cam to my side. I rolled my eyes but didn't answer him. He stopped laughing when he saw Lucas and his companions exit the car. He looked at me with his eyebrow raised then glanced back at them.

"I see you have some friends, Hayden," he said.

"Sure, friends," I said with a coat of sarcasm then Zara elbowed me in my stomach. I grinned down at her and stuck my tongue out at her. Hey, who said I couldn't be childish too?

"That's the new pack," Zara explained to him. He raised his eyebrow then looked up at me. I sighed and nodded as conformation, "the leader is my brother, Lucas and those are his friends Sean and Max." They nodded their heads, still not making an attempt to step forward. It was as if they were afraid of them by the way how they were staring at them. Conner's and James' car pulled up behind us. Conner's jeep had Abigale, Oshane, Alexandria and Angeline along with himself, while James' jeep had Lilly, Jenna, Jonah, Maya and Logan along with himself. James' jeep was a lot larger than both Conner and I's because he decided last minute to carry Jenna and Jonah (not quite surprising).

"The name's Bryon, Bryon Spencer," Bryon introduced as he stuck out a hand to Lucas. He stared down at it for a while then shook it.

"Lucas Ferrari," Lucas responded.

"Alright, well...I guess we'll meet the rest of the pack when we get there," Bryon said then turned to us, "if any of you guys want to come with us, we have plenty of room."

"I'll go," Jenna said then she dragged Jonah along.

"No you won't," James growled.

"Dude, what's the matter? It's just us; we're not gonna bite you know," Bryon teased. I rolled my eyes.

"He's afraid to leave them alone because they're mates," I clarified. Bryon's eyes went wide as he stared at them.

"Ho-ly shit," I laughed at his expression, as well as the rest of us, "seriously, you guys are mates?"

"Yeah, we are," Jonah answered.

"I'm so sorry for you dude," Bryon patted his back sadly making Jenna laugh.

"Alright, let's get the hell out of here," Conner said. Everyone packed into their cars, though it took a while for James to let Jonah and Jenna go with Bryon and them. Max had gone with James, telling us he wanted to 'get to know them.' I didn't really buy that, but whatever right?

'James, she's seventeen,' I reminded him through our mind link.

'And Jonah's a flirt and a player. I don't see your point,' he grumbled. I chuckled at his behavior then started up my car.

An hour later...

"Are we there yet?" Zara asked impatiently. I chuckled and shook my head 'no'. She can be so impatient sometimes....more like all the times but I think you guys get the point. Laughter came from the back of the car.

"Zara, you have absolutely no patience whatsoever," Lucas said.

"I do have patience," she said, "it's just not very high." Both Lucas and I laughed at her statement (surprising, I know). Suddenly I heard a growl from the back seat. I looked up my rearview to see Sean sitting up and looking out the window confused.

"What are you looking at?" Lucas asked him as he looked out the window himself.

"Mate," answered Sean with a growl. I looked out the window and saw nothing, no one in sight. What the hell is he talking about?

"Stop the car," Lucas ordered and I growled at him. No one orders me to do anything!

"Just please stop the car, Hayden," Zara said and I sighed but pulled over none the less. The thing that this girl is doing to me just simply amazes me. Any other guy wouldn't let their girl boss them around like that but no, I'm different. As soon as the car stopped, Sean jumped out of the car and ran towards the trees nearby.

"What exactly is he expecting to find?" I asked. Just as the words left my mouth, a girl ran through the forest. From what I could see, tears were coming from her eyes and she had blood all over her. Sean stepped protectively in front of her then a huge dark red wolf leaped out. The wolf growled at the persons in front of him and Lucas stepped up to protect his friend. Sean growled at him warningly but the wolf stood his ground. As soon as I saw him ready to leap forward to them, I shifted and stood in front of them. The dark red had the nerve to growl at me but I growled louder than him.

Who are you?” he asked.

The Alpha of this area, who the hell are you? I retorted.

I'm the third in command of a pack not too far from your territory. The name's Michael, he responded.

Then why are you trespassing on the Triton Kings territory? I’m certainly not aware of your...visit.

Our Alpha really wants this girl. She has endangered our Alpha Female in ways I do not wish to go in detail. She has scarred our Alpha for life and it is my Alpha's deepest wish to punish this girl severely. I tried to comprehend what he was saying. She was a treat to their Alpha Female?

Is it that this girl knew your Alpha or does she target them?

Probably both for all I care. She currently has four Alphas looking for her from the last two to three years. When we questioned her while she was on our lands, she told us that she is on some mission to destroy all top territories and kill every single Alpha in it.

Once I heard this, my mind instantly wondered to Zara.

'Zara, get in the car,' I told her through our mind link.

'What, why should I---'

'NOW ZARA!!!!!!!!!' I shouted to her, my Alpha voice coming out. I saw her out of the corner of my eye go in the car and I sighed mentally in relief. That...monster won’t be near her. Not when I'm still alive.

Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it...personally, I told him.

Aright, if you say so but just so my Alpha doesn't have my ass...can you give him a call? His name is Alpha Brent, of the Westwinds Pack.

Will do, thanks.

I made certain to follow Michael out of our borders then returned to the jeep. Sean and his...friend were seated in the car while Lucas was still outside. I walked to the back and got on some clothes then looked up at him.

"Something you need?"

"Uhh...no" he said and then got in the car. I shook my head in confusion then went in the car and started driving. Half an hour past when Lucas decided to say something at the stoplight we were at.

"Umm...Hayden?" Lucas asked.

"Sup?"

"Uhh...nothing, I just... I just wanted to say thanks. You really shouldn't have done that but you did anyway," he said. I raised my eyebrow in shock, looking at him the rear view mirror, but then quickly shook it off by nodding.

"Yeah, no problem. Otherwise Zara would've had my ass," I joked and we both laughed. I somewhat expected Zara to laugh but she just sat there, looking out the window.

"Hey, are you ok?" I asked her softly as I gently grabbed her wrist. She jumped slightly then glanced at me and nodded.

"Zara, what's---"

"Hayden, I'm fine," she cut me off. Her voice was coarse due to the fact that she wasn't talking at all. I looked over her once more before speeding off when the light turned green.

...................................................................................................

We finally arrived at the camp site. Well, to say it was a camp site would be the lie of the century. This place was so modernized that it was more considered a teens hang out that a boring old camp site. Instead of camping tents, we had 'miniature mansions' as James put it; instead of being outdoors...well, we can't stop going outdoors cause of the main fact that we're werewolves so...

Moving on, we started to unpack the bags from the truck when Bryon came running up to us.

"Hey man, what took you guys so long?" he asked, "we were starting to worry." I rolled my eyes at his attempted joke.

"We had a little issue,"

"And what might that issue be?" I stepped aside so he could see the girl behind us. Sadly, she had to come with us...reason being that she was Sean's mate and now a part of Lucas' pack. Well, whether she be a part of that pack or Sean's mate, if she ever gets near my mate I won't hesitate to kill her.

"Hayden, can I speak with you for a second?" Bryon asked me. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion then followed him away from everyone's hearing range.

"Do you know who that is?"

"Uh...not really but she's Sean's mate and I new member of their pack and because I'm on a tight string with pleasantries to Zara's brother, I just brought her. What's the big deal?"

"The big deal is that...this girl...she's one of the most wanted females in countries such as Europe, China and Asia, not to mention Japan and those far east countries." Hearing that got my entire body tense.

"I told the third in command that I would deal with it, so I will," I said in a stern voice.

"You bet your ass you will. Ever since Zara came along, you've become a pansy," he joked and I laughed.

"Oh really now, and what do I have to say about you and Nat?" I retorted.

"Touché,"

We walked towards the area where the Tritons were.

"So where's everyone?" I turned to ask Bryon.

"They're all at the field. Apparently, you're someone to wait for," he said.

"Yeah, because I'm the...no, THE best," I said throwing my hands in the air for emphasis. The guys laughed and shook their heads. I chuckled and looked around for Zara, only to find that she wasn’t here.

"Hey, where's Zara?" I asked them.

"She went to the lake, don't think she went with anyone," James answered me. Curiosity got the best of me. What would she be doing at the lake this late?

"Alright, I'll go get her and then meet you guys at the field," I stated then went looking for her. When I found her, she was sitting at the dock with her feet in the water. I walked towards her silently, trying not to disturb whatever she was doing, but she turned around. When she was it was me, she just sighed and turned back around.

Well then...that hurt.

"Hey, are you ok?" I asked as I sat behind her. As soon as I sat down she got up and I looked up at her confused.

"Zara, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, there's absolutely nothing wrong," she mumbled then started to walk away but I held her wrist and spun her around.

"Come on, talk to me, what's wrong?"

"It's just...it's just something you did today brought back a lot of bad memories, it's no biggie," she said not meeting my eyes.

"Something I did?"

"Uh...yeah, you know what, it's kind of stupid. Forget I even said anything,"

I grabbed back her wrist as she tried to make her escape, "Zara, nothing will ever sound stupid from you, ok. Just tell me."

"It's just that...when you shouted at me today, it just...it just reminded me of one of the times I was raped," she said. When did I---oh shit, I shouted at her when I told her to get in the car. God, I'm such an idiot!

"Zara, I'm so sorry. God, I'm such an idiot. I was just thinking about your safety and it just came by impulse. I'm so sorry, I really shouldn't have shouted at you. I'm so---" I ranted but she cut me off when she put her hand over my mouth. She laughed slightly making me sigh.

"You don't have to apologize...well, at least so many times," she said smiling, "It's not what you did, it's just...I'm just really messed up---"

"No, it was me, if it wasn't me then you wouldn't have felt that way," I said then grabbed her hips pulling her to me, "I really am sorry. So sorry."

"Yeah, I can hear it in your voice, so desperate," she joked and I laughed and rolled my eyes, "come on, let's get going. They're waiting for the best people to arrive." I winked at her and she chuckled.

"You got that right,"

.......................................................................................

"Alright, as you all may know by now this is Camp Werewolf. For our new campers such as the Nixon Shadows and the Bane Creek Pack, I along with Becky will be your camp instructors so to speak, so...well guess I honestly don't have to give the definition of camp instructor to a bunch of high schoolers. Ok first we'll start with the cabins. There are two new cabins on this campus, that is Cabin D and Cabin E. Cabin A is the largest cabin as it has thirty rooms. Cabin B and C have exactly sixteen rooms and Cabins D and E have fourteen rooms. All rooms come with their own personal bathroom. You will be allowed to choose your cabin though often times packs tend to stick together. It's completely up to you and your pack. Next on our list are the introductions because I'm seeing quite a few unfamiliar faces so why don't we start with the Triton Kings,"

"Do I really need to introduce myself, Uncle Jerry?" I asked him with a huge grin on my face.

"Yes, Hayden you do," he said smirking at me. I rolled my eyes and stood up nonetheless.

"A'ite, the name's Hayden. Hayden Pierce, Alpha of the Triton Kings," I said then sat back down next to Zara, who mumbled about Alphas and their 'so-called' badass behavior.

"Ok, next beside Mr. Cocky," Uncle Jerry said, "Well thanks definitely a new face. I certainly would have remembered you." Jealousy ran through my veins and I glared at him. He held up his hands in surrender, "No harm, no foul. She looks like a very nice girl." He said then winked at her.

"Jerry, stop winding him up," Aunt Becky scolded him.

"Sure, take his side," he mumbled. Zara laughed at their bickering, along with everyone else.

"Alright, my name is Zara Ferrari. And before you all ask, yes like the car," she said and chuckled filled the air. And that's how we spent that grace period, just introducing ourselves. Then came the part of this meeting where in decides which cabin you get to sleep in. Sure Uncle Jerry said that your pack chooses but that's the challenging part. Bryon and I have been at it for years that we've been at this camp to see who gets Cabin A. Let's just say that Cabin A is the most spacious cabin on this camp site. It has everything like the games lounge at home just in the basement and only...listen to me carefully...ONLY this cabin has it. So our packs always see who gets to it first using 'the passage of righteousness' (please don't ask about the name).

"Ready to lose, Pierce?" Bryon asked. I simply smirked at him.

"In your f*cking dreams, Channing."

"Are you forgetting that I won last year, Pierce?" he said cockily. I laughed at this,

"And are you forgetting that I have a record for four years in a row?" I smirked at him. He glared at me slightly then walked to the 'starting line'.

"What are you guys doing?" Zara asked as she walked behind me.

"We're trying to see who gets the best section of Cabin A," I responded to her, "every year we both sprint to the house to see who's the fastest and I have been winning four times in a row,"

"Not in a row cause I won last year," Bryon retorted. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Sure if you want to count that then go right ahead," I said then got in my sprinting position.

"Uncle Jerry, lead us off!" Bryon shouted. Jerry came running and went in front of us.

"You guys ready?" He asked. We nodded and he started the count off, "Alright, ready...set...GO!!" And we were off. Bryon got the lead because I started off a little rusty but I soon caught up to him. By the time we approached the finish line, we were side by side so I pushed myself and managed to cross it before him.

"Yes!" I shouted as I came to a stop. Bryon came up beside me and rolled his eyes.

"Whatever Pierce," he grumbled unhappily, "you cocky son of a bitch." I laughed at his attitude.

"Grow up, dude," James said as he walked up to us, "we all know the Tritons have the fastest men ever."
