《Protected by BTS》Chapter 54: SOS

You've been slacking a little, but it was all Taehyung's fault. It had been 3 weeks and since you were babysitting him and his injuries (which were thankfully, practically healed), he had always been curious with your work. Namjoon had the items you requested sent to the penthouse so you could examine and assemble them.
You had done this for each of the 6 buildings he asked you to secure and you were working on your last one.
"This one looks cool! It wasn't with the other pieces for the other buildings?" Tae grabbed a piece of a circuit board that was plated with the omega sites. You snatched it from him like a little child, "It's because this will help me access all of the buildings. It's the mainframe for the polymorphic engines for each code."
Taehyung stared blankly at you. "I'm sorry but are we speaking the same language?"
"Get my laptop." You pointed for him to grab it from the kitchen. Tae obediently grabbed it and plopped a seat next to you. "Basically just a storehouse for me and so I always have access to the buildings. I can even control it from here."
"So are you finally done?"
You nodded. "Yup. I just need to connect the last warehouse. I'll go there later tonight when some more members can come with me." You went to your phone and started to text Namjoon that you had finished and would need to go there. Even though you had much more freedom, the boys still never let you go out on your own, in fear of Sam Young Jae, Won Ho Sung, or that other ahjussi getting to you.
"I'm sick of this house! Can't I go?" Tae pouted and you tapped under his chin. "That's definitely not my decision. You know your hyungs, they put you on bed rest until the end of the month."
"You're no fun." Tae pouted and left you to your work. You shook your head and decided to work on something else. Another assignment you had was Hanbin. You had been tracking him and trying to implicate him for the robberies, but nothing really stuck out. Even with Jongsuk, you had nothing. Either way, you were going to make sure that Bangtan's assets were safe and that nothing like what happened a few weeks ago would repeat.

You and Tae watched Kdramas while waiting for the members to come home. It was nearing sunset when the elevator dinged. You knew whoever it was is going to accompany you to the final warehouse. Grabbing your laptop bag and the box of new equipment, you were ready to go.
The elevator door opened and it was Jungkook.
The universe hates me.
You hadn't exactly talked to Jungkook in these past few weeks. Obviously you couldn't avoid him either, but you made sure you two were never alone. The last time you guys were alone, you guys kissed and you ran away from him. He also had confessed to you while delirious but you know that he didn't remember. You were unsure of how to approach him.
He probably hates me. I ran away from him and have been avoiding him at all costs. Tonight's going to be fun. Notice my sarcasm.
"Namjoon hyung said I need to bring you the last warehouse. You ready?" Jungkook asked as he barely looked up from his phone. You gulped and forced a small smile out of nervousness. "Yup, let's go."
You stepped into the elevator and Jungkook offered you a hand. "I can hold that." He took the box and you were reminded of that time he did the same when you were on the stairs. "Oh, thanks."
The elevator ride was a short minute but felt too long with the awkward tension. Once the elevator doors finally opened, you were greeted with a smiling Jimin. "Yeongsayo!" He cutely chimed.
"Oh, hyung?" Jungkook's eyes perked.
"I also got a text from Namjoon-hyung. Let's go. I'll drive." Jimin said before he skipped to the car. Thank god. You were relieved you wouldn't have to be alone with Jungkook.
After the car ride, you weren't exactly sure where you were but that didn't really matter. Your job was only to secure the security systems. There were a few men guarding the seemingly abandoned building as you threw walked up to them.

"Jungkook-ssi, Jimin-ssi!" One of the men ran up to you guys. "We didn't know you guys were coming."
"Mm. You guys should have received some new equipment. Is most of it here?" Jimin asks and the man bobbled his head as a 'yes.'
"Good. We're installing new security measurements. Listen to whatever she tells you." Jungkook gestures to your figure and you waved. "Alright, let's get started."
You had spent the next hour ordering the men around, which was kind of fun. You ordered for an installment of magnetic locks, 2inch metal doors for each exit, state of the art all round surveillance, and much more. You designated a larger space for the security room in which everything could be monitored. While all the boys were working, you were in the security room, syncing your computer with the new location.
The new large monitors are a great addition and this place was starting to look a lot more high tech. Monitoring the progress on the screens, you watched as Jungkook, Jimin, and the other guards were doing their part. They were scattered throughout the warehouse since this was one of the largest ones they had.
The entrance/exits were secured and all you had to do was finish up the internal security measures. As you were finishing the last firewalls, Jimin popped his head into the room. "We're done on my end. Jungkook is just fixing the new surveillance cameras on the blind spots of the building. What about you?"
"I'm almost done as well. I-" You froze mid sentence as the eruption of gun shots were heard in the near distance. Jimin cocked his head and his eyes went wide before he sprinted out of the room, looking for the continuous sounds of gunshots.
You frantically typed on your laptop and loaded the live feed for the main entrance. You saw as the heavy metal door was still up since you guys had just finished its locks. This is literally the worst time to attack!
You immediately made the door collapse down from your laptop, trapping some attackers inside and leaving some outside. Based off of the feed, you guys were heavily outnumbered but since you trapped most of them outside, you guys had a better chance.
The men outside started to shoot at the door with futile results. Bullet proof bitches. You continued to scan the screens to get a grip of what was happening. Bangtan's men, Jimin and Jungkook were fighting off some men and other intruders were stealing whatever they could carry since no one was able to stop them.
You sealed all of the exits to the robbers' dismay. They tried to break down the doors in order to get out with Bangtan's riches but they would never be able to get out. Not without your permission. You controlled the building.
However, the odds still were not in your favor. You were outnumbered inside the building and there were still more attackers trying to get in. Grabbing your phone, you opened the messaging app and went to your group chat.
'SOS'
You typed into the phone. Your thumb hovered over the 'send' button but before you could click it, a gun shot rang out to the wall behind you. Your body tended as you whimpered in fear.
Looking to the door frame, you saw a man in all black. His face was covered by a mask and a cap to cover his eyes. His frame towered over you and the gun was pointed at your head. His voice was automated, as if he was wearing some sort of voice scrambler underneath his mask. "Send that message and I'll shoot you."

Cultivating Earth [Hiatus]
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. I apologize for disappearing so quickly, but sometimes that's just life. I'll return as soon as possible. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
