《Protected by BTS》Chapter 40: Fighting

You used the elevator, your legs were too dead to use the stairs. You guys sparred all day and worked out all day. Your limbs felt like jelly and you just wanted to drop dead.
"Not bad for you first day." Jungkook glanced to you while using his towel to wipe off his sweat. You only glared at him, too pissed to care what he said. After he said he would go harder, he didn't hold back his punches.
As the elevator opened, Jungkook happily stepped out, ready to eat a hearty dinner. You slowly walked in and barely even noticed the other members looking at you two finally coming in. It was already late at night so everyone had herded home hours ago. They were all just awaiting to see how beat up you were from Jungkook.
You heard a few 'hi's' and 'anyeongs' from some of them and you only waved them off. You were exhausted and wanted nothing more than to lie in bed and drop dead. The thought of your warm bed, your pillows, sleeping, your aching body finally relaxing ...
"MiSun-ah!" You were snapped out of your thoughts by Jimin. "Huh? Yes? What?" You shook your head. He only laughed as he grabbed two big bags of ice from the freezer. "You should take an ice bath. It'll make you feel much better tomorrow and your muscles won't be as sore. You're going to need all your strength in order to keep training." Jimin said as he headed to your new personal bathroom. Seokjin pushed you to follow and your muscles aches at his touch.
"Ice bath?
You moaned in pain and Seokjin chuckled. "Ahh, that dongsaeng went really hard on you huh? He's too strong for no reason!" He said as he started to run the water for the bath tub. Your new room came with it's own private bathroom, which you loved.
Jimin was starting to pour the ice and even tho you felt hot from working out all day, the thought of taking an ice bath made you shudder. "Do I really have to?"
"If you want to survive another training day with that golden maknae then yes." Seokjin replied. "When I used to train with Jungkook, I took an ice bath. Trust us, it works miracles. Fighting!" Jimin said before he and Seokjin left your bathroom.
Jungkook quickly finished dinner in his room and noticed the tangled blankets still on his couch. He still hadn't cleaned up since you used to sleep in his room. Although you were now out of his room, he kind've missed you sleeping here. You guys had been roommates for a long time so now that you were gone, felt kind of weird.

His mind continued to drift to thoughts of you, especially thoughts from today. You looked way too damn good while working out, even if you did fail helplessly against him. Jungkook knew you had a long ways to go. He and the rest of the boys still worried for your safety and after today, he worried even more, seeing as you were almost helpless combatively. He could only think that if you were stronger, he would never feel as scared as he was that night you almost drowned.
If I want her to get any stronger, I'm going to have to be a lot more tough on her. I can't tease her anymore, as much as I want to, it won't help anyone.
And with those thoughts, he knew he couldn't let his emotions get to him. As much as he wanted to protect you and keep you from harm, he couldn't do that in training. He can't go easy on you anymore because he cared for you. He was going to push you to your limits because he cared for you. Starting tomorrow and for the next coming days, he decided that he would work you hard in order for you to become strong enough. Jungkook could no longer play nice with you.
~~~
That's exactly what Jungkook did.
"Ready for another day of stupid training," You said sarcastically but laughed as you entered the mats. Jungkook had a blank stare as he motioned for you to attack him first.
You charged, about to punch his ribs and kick the back of knees, when he head butted you. You fell onto the floor with a loud groan and clutched your head. "Ow! What the hell!"
He rubbed the spot on his head where he hit you, barely flinching at the hit. When he looked at your figure on the floor, he stumbled a bit. A familiar dark face replaced your figure as Jungkook hallucinated. He didn't see you, he saw someone from his past.
He hadn't ever actually hit you before now. All day yesterday, he just dodged your attacks, tripped you, or threw you over his shoulder. Now that he actually was on the offensive side, the familiar face replaced yours. He saw the person who hurt him.
"What was that you jerk?!" Your yell brought him out of his trance.
Jungkook straightened out his shirt and pretended as if he hadn't saw the person he just saw. He smugly replied, "I told you I won't hold back any more. If you want to get any stronger, then I can't treat you like a little baby, now can I? Now, get your ass up, we still have hours of training left." He shook his head, hoping that the man's face didn't replace yours again.
You glared, wondering what's gotten into him. Maybe he's having a bad day? It's not right that he's taking it out on me, but I'll let it slide for now.
However, it wasn't just a bad day. He was determined to play the bad guy and give you hell. He was determined to do what had been done to him. That was the only way he could think of to make you stronger. It was the only way to put his mind at ease, hoping his harsh lessons would transfer over to real life, just as he learned. Just in case you came into contact with one of your or his enemies.
Over the next few days of training, he definitely did not hold back at all. His punches, his kicks, his demeanor, his attitude, his words were cold. His hits always left a bruise and you wondered where the playboy, teasing Jungkook went. He used to be so playful with you and now, you wouldn't be surprised if you thought he hated you.
Did I do something to upset him? Everyday, you left beaten up and everyday Seokjin and Jimin came to you with bags of ice for an ice bath.
You reminisced on how much pain he's caused you. Gone were the heart fluttering moments every time you made contact with him.You dreaded training with him now. You almost wanted to hate him.
And today, he completely lost it. He yelled at you with no filter. You hadn't been able to block his attack and he pushed you with all his strength to the floor, scraping your arm with a burn from the mat material. "Come on MiSun! How do you expect to save your father like this? You'll just get in the way and get yourself kidnapped again." He didn't have the audacity to look at you.
"E-excuse me?" You stood up and didn't bother wincing at your somewhat bloody arm. This was a hard fall and the mat burn started to sting. Jungkook's gaze softened, regretting how hard he pushed you into the floor for you to burn your arm like that.
He looked at you again and your face distorted in his eyes. Jungkook once again saw the person who hurt him in your eyes. Jungkook blinked a few times in hopes that he would see your face once more.
Jungkook then regretted everything. His new version of training was hurting the both of you. He keeps seeing flashbacks and people from his past when he went hard on you, and you would just get hurt in the process.
You got in his face and slapped him hard. You were no longer sparring, you were fighting.
"Jeon Jungkook, what in the hell has gotten into you?! Of course I want to save my father, but there's nothing I can do but train and wait until I have another chance with those bitches. But right now, you are being the bitch. I know I have a long way to go but I don't need those remarks from you." Jungkook's face continued to fall and he just stood there taking the scolding. "I don't care what's gotten into you, but don't you ever bring my father into this!"
Your heart beat of your chest and you caught your breath from yelling at such a capacity. "I think we're done here. It's late. I'm done tonight." You walked away and up the elevator.
Jungkook looked almost sad as you were scolding him and walked away. But as soon as you were inside the elevator and no longer in view, Jungkook scrunched his face in anger, throwing the first thing he could find — gloves for the punching bag — and threw them as hard as he could against the wall.
Not satisfied, he went to the punching bag. He started to hit the bag, without gloves, repeatedly. The bag started to swing and he knew the skin on his fists were going to be raw by the end of this.
Luck Lockyer
Luck Lockyer was the type of man to smirk in the dark, the expression not for anyone but himself. One of perpetual amusement. The bright side of things were hard to find in the shade yet his amber eyes were always searching. The smirk was his default, he knew it, his friends knew it, his family knew it. It was his most natural state. But the death of everyone close to you can affect a downwards curve on the mouths of even the most stoic people. Without purpose, without anyone to do the job for, Luck Lockyer found himself inside an empty forgotten church. The perpetual smirk on his face had slipped to a thin line, his scar more noticeable now than ever before. His amber eyes, the windows to his soul, dull and lifeless. To anyone who knew him, it was the clothing that gave away his mental state, denim pants and a plain black t-shirt. If that wasn't enough, the tears running down his face certainly would, the echoing sobs of a broken man rang across the rundown church. It was on a whim, but Luck Lockyer prayed, he prayed for many things, for death, revenge, friends, but the one prayer dominating his thoughts, a second chance for his family. That was all he wanted. Simple. It was then, on the outskirts of a polluted city, in an abondoned lot, in a forgotten church that Luck Lockyer, the Devil of the Cards, the Bloodless Hand, the Amber Demon, the Broken, was answered by a being from another world and one from his. *found the picture online
