《Protected by BTS》Chapter 10: Euphoria

You shuddered at those words.
"H-how would you know if there isn't a body. For all we know, my father's corpse could be at the bottom of the ocean right now." You said feeling the tightness in your chest arise again.
He sighed, "I know these people very well. They killed my father and they did everything in their power to make sure I suffered as well, just because I was his son. They are definitely doing the same to you. He was taken for a reason so they're keeping him alive. We would know if he was dead by now. Trust me. Your father is alive and we'll get him back."
The events of the night replayed in your head. it was the first time you really thought it over. It was a defense mechanism. You basically ignored everything that happened in order to keep living. Basic psychology on traumatic stress involves the suppression of the incidence. Because of this, all you were really concerned about was doing what your father had asked you to do. You hadn't had the time to really analyze what had happened.
The men could have easily killed him that night. That or maybe Namjoon was right. They're making him suffer for whatever he did.
No. You didn't want to think of it like that, but you did. If ... if he's alive, what is he going through right now? You couldn't imagine what he's going through right now and it overwhelmed you.
You tried to control your breathing and stop the coming anxiety attack.
If he's dead, would he suffer the same fate as your ahjumma, Bong Soon? Bong Soon wasn't even involved in any of this yet she was ruthlessly killed. Her pool of blood slowly consuming the tiled floor, her lifeless body with open eyes, the men standing with the gun behind her glaring at you flashed through your mind.
It was silent for a few minutes as everyone digested the new information. You looked at the rest of the boys and saw worry etched in their faces while looking at you.
Your breathing became audible for everyone and you thought that everyone could hear your rapidly beating heart.
"MiSun? MiSun? Are you alright?" Namjoon walked towards you and knelt in front of you. you blinked a few times in fear before pushing him away.
"I-I'm sorry. Give me some time to process. I need som-some space." You stood up and backed away from all of them. The boys tried coaxing you down but couldn't get a word through to you.

Namjoon tried holding your arms and hugging you when you completely shoved him away. You flinched at the sudden contact and ended up hitting Yoongi beside you.
You stumbled from the impact but regained your balance. Now just standing there made you want to collapse. You wanted to get out of the situation. You knew you couldn't leave but you had to find some room to breakdown in. You dashed and ran to the other set of stairs. The boys didn't bother to run after you, knowing that you couldn't get away unless you headed for the elevator or down the other back stairwell.
You ran up the stairs and realized it was a longer flight. At the very top was only one door which you pushed open. It was the top floor. You were on the roof of the building and it was beautiful. It was somewhat cold but you didn't mind it right now. The wind brushed through your thin robe and you were reminded of your clothing situation. The sunset was calming and gave you the headspace to think about everything.
The roof was very well kept as there were tables, chairs, a pool, and other enjoyable utilities. You took a seat by the long swing looking over the pool and laid on it. It was comforting and you allowed yourself to be vulnerable and cry it all out.
A flood of tears erupted from you eyes and you soon found it hard to breathe with your sobs. You knew it was bad when you could feel yourself choking. Sitting up again, you tried counting down from 10 and calming your breaths. It took awhile, but eventually you cried softer, breathed easier, and your heart was at a slower rate.
You calmed yourself out of the anxiety attack.
By time you had realized it, you had been up there for hours. You don't remember how long ago the sun had set.
Your thoughts recycled each other as you came up with no real clues as to what could have happened to your father. In frustration, you lay back down against the old swing. The cold night accompanied you to sleep as it was the only feeling you could handle.
~~~
Jimin and Jungkook were the last ones still awake. It had been a few hours after that talk with MiSun and everyone was a little on edge.
Jungkook chugged the bottle of chocolate milk as Jimin finished washing his dish in the sink. The boys left a tray of food by the roof's door if you had started feeling hungry. But you never went to go get it.
"Should we go check up on her? She's been up there for a long time." Jungkook said lightly.
Jimin shook his head, "Yoongi hyung said we should leave her alone for now. She should sort out things in her mind by herself."
Jungkook paused then nodded in understanding. "How's Namjoon hyung?"
"I don't know, last time I checked he's still stressed out. He also skipped dinner since he never ate the food we left either. This whole situation with MiSun is just bringing up bad memories for him. She's like a little sister to him but he thought that they all had died all those years ago. On top of the shock of her being alive, he doesn't want to lose the one person who reminds him of the little childhood he had."
Jungkook threw the empty bottle of banana milk away and said in hesitation, "I know." This earned a sigh from both of them in the dreary atmosphere.
"But he'll be fine. Our hyungs went to go check up on him earlier. He's just been drowning himself in work. Anyways, there's nothing we can do about anything right this moment. So let's just go to our rooms." Jimin said and walked up the stairs.
"I'm going to stay down here a little longer. Good night!"
"Night!"
Jungkook thought about visiting you up on the roof, despite his hyungs requests not to. But he didn't care, he understood how scary your situation was and how awful it was to feel alone.
He had been there too.
He went to the roof and was met with your sleeping figure on the old swing above the pool. He noticed the dry tears on your cheeks and could only remember how he used to be the same.
He felt empathetic towards you.
I can't leave her here like this, He thought. He removed his hoodie and put it on you for a few moments of warmth in the cold night. Because God knows that the thin robe still wasn't cutting it.
Jungkook carried you, being careful not to wake you up. He brought you back to his room and laid you gently on the bed and in the covers. Jungkook fixed his hoodie on your body, making sure you were bundled nicely. It looked like a dress on you, seeing as he was much bigger in size. It looked slightly puffy on you since the sweatshirt went over the robe and Jungkook was not about to take the robe off of you. Besides, you seemed to have caught a cold because it was pretty chilly outside and you were there for quite a while.
You rustled around in your sleep already and he was about to go to bed on his couch when you started murmering. Jungkook looked back and realized you were still asleep and dreaming. You were in some sort of nightmare.
He watched you from his couch and noticed that your nightmare continued. You relentless tossed and turned and murmered cries for minutes on end. Your whimpering cries from the nightmare memory haunted your sleep.
Jungkook couldn't take it anymore.
He sat by your side and did what he thought would help you sleep more peacefully. He started softly singing and caressing the blanket to calm you down.
"Close the door now
When I'm with you I'm in utopia"
Your body reacted within seconds and slowly stopped writhing in the bed. Unconsciously, you inched closer to the sound of the beautiful voice.
"Mujigaecheoreom jiwojin kkumeul chaja hemaet eulkka unmyeong gateun heunhan malgwa dalla
Apeun neoui nunbichi nawa gateun goseul boneun geol
Won't you please stay in dreams"
You slowly gripped his arm and Jungkook instinctively, rubbed your hand.
"Jeogi meolliseo badaga deullyeo
Kkumeul geonneoseo supul neomeoro
Seonmyeong haejineun geugoseuroga
Take my hands now"
By the time he had finished the song, you were latched onto his arm with your cheek on his shoulder. Jungkook was comfortable himself in this position. He wanted to leave to respect you, but he just felt way too comfortable and tired after a long day. After all, he did have a concussion and hot tea thrown at him. He closed his eyes and promised himself that he would get up in the next minute.
But slowly, he felt the darkness of sleep and it overcame him.
The Madec Legacy
The dawn of Emotion Based A.I.s is here, John is the fifth test subject to have an AI implemented in his brain, and so far the first one to survive. Blinded by the dream of immortality, the researchers push the tests to inhumane standards. John is obligated to take part in sessions of torture designed to test the limits of the AI influence over the physical and mental health. What was supposed to be a new beginning in life turns into living hell. An (un)lucky twist ends his life. John then reincarnates with his AI in a new world where a System influences the interaction between Magic and Matter. With seemingly limitless potential and a game-like system influencing the world, the hero sets on his journey. --AUTHOR NOTE, PLEASE READ-- I will state here my promises to you, potential reader: 1. No harem! I don't trust myself to make a harem feel natural or healthy, I never met any person who has a personality that can adapt and live in a harem for reasons that are not monetary, so I can't draw inspiration from real life. Sorry!; 2. The enemies will not be bland and illogically mean. Some may feel like that at first, but I will take great care in fleshing them out, trust me. You may end up hating some, but you won't be able to deny that they had their reasons for what they did; 3. I am using a paid (and expensive) automated editor tool, and I take longer to write because I take my time in editing the stuff. I am aiming to improve and I will not shy away from constructive criticism, nor take offense for no reason; 4. Characters will die and will suffer, some will get over the tragedies and improve, others will not be as resilient. 5. This novel has a lot of ground to cover, it is neither a short story, a manual on crafting, or the script of some action scene. There will be both time skips and oversimplifications of some actions for the sake of moving the story forward. Time skips will be more prominent in the first 30 chapters. I will describe crafting processes and fights with more detail if they are essential for the chapter; 6. If I took my time describing something, it's because it is important. I hate novels that waste time describing useless stuff. If you skim over something, the chances are that something in the future will not make sense. I am an adept of "Chekhov's gun" principle; 7. I already have 31k words on my auxiliary documents, I have a plan for the story, and I will not be making changes even if someone ends up noticing some foreshadowing and figures out what will happen. The story comes first. 8. I have a wife, a job that demands 9h every day and courses related to my job (lawyer) three days of the week, it's unlikely that I will be able to do mass releases at all. I will have a healthy amount of chapters to be able to post at least 1 chapter every day continually. Don't worry. 9. I will read all the comments. I will listen to all you have to say and will try my best to accommodate demands as long as they do not hamper the path I prepared. 10. There is an arc that spans the entire novel. Each volume will be an arc in itself while progressing a little bit of the main arc. Every arc will have one or more main antagonists. I think that's it! Thank you for reading it all. Have an awesome time reading my first novel!!
This project, I'm just working on for fun. Not much really. Maybe a couple of chapters per week.
