The orange scent invaded my senses in seconds, the orange juice dampening my hair and seeping into my shirt.

I could only stare dumbfounded at the culprit, Tyrone Adler, who now held an empty bottle. Eliki letting out a horrified gasp.

"My favorite color is orange. The color of fucking orange juice to be specific." He sneered, dumping the empty bottle on my lap.

As if it couldn't get anymore worse, Jax Dean and Chica Monroe decided that it was the perfect timing to arrived. Chica's smile sliding out of her face when she noticed my state.

"God my oh! What happened here?" Chica asked, hands flying to her mouth as she looked to an angry Tyrone and drowned looking rat a.k.a ME.

Chica Monroe is one of the hottest girl in Lockhart high. She has white hair, like literally white hair and pouty lips that are to die for. She's a fierce woman, standing at the height of 5'2 and is the only girl-friend of Tyrone Adler.

I rose to my feet in an instant, my anger skyrocketing."What the hell is your problem?" I snapped, letting the bottle fall from my lap.

"Problem?" He scoffed, his dark eyes brimming with fury."The problem is you running around your mouth, talking shit behind my back just because I didn't talk to you." He exclaimed, his nostrils flaring.

Giving me a once over, he leaned in closer to my space."I don't like to waste my time on desperate girls."

He pressed my buttons further from the way he looked at me and I did the most unexpected thing that Zoe Smith would've done.

I punched him hard.

He stepped back in surprise, holding his jaw. A hissed escaping my mouth, my hand throbbing painfully but I wasn't finished.

Turning around, I took my own orange juice before splashing it unto his frame. All the bystanders looking at us with agape expression.

"Newsflash Tyrone Adler, not everyone wants to fuck you." I spat, walking away with the dignity left in me.

My whole mood was ruined and I knew that word was starting to spread around the cafeteria by now and that is not something I have the energy to handle with.

Skipping school is not a usual practice for me. Only on specific occasions or emergency do I do it and right now, it falls unto the emergency category.

I fumed, not even bothered by the heat from the sun. I knew what I did was wrong but did he really have to dump me with orange juice? Let's also acknowledge the fact that he basically insinuated that I was a desperate hoe for his attention.

Ben's Diner was not far from our school and was basically a ten-minute walk. This is where I part-time every Monday and Friday, earning easy cash.

I ignored the looks that I received from the customers, Delilah, my co-worker/friend following me in the staff room.

"What happened?" Delilah asks, handing me a spare towel from one of the upper cabinets.

"Tyrone Adler happened." I replied, opening my locker and taking my extra-shirt. "I gotta wash my hair, give me two-minutes."

When I went back to the staff room, Delilah looked up from her phone. She's in her late twenties, an asian woman with a petite frame.

Uncle Ben, or my boss, is her father. She didn't pursue college because she wanted to help her single-parent in managing the diner.

They were a close family friend of ours. Uncle Ben knowing my mom and real Dad from a social gathering that they all went together a few years back.

I wrapped the towel on my wet hair and twisted it up. Peeling the sticky shirt from my body with a grimace.

Good thing I didn't chose to wear a white shirt or else I'd be really screwed.

Delilah came up to me, getting the wet wipes that she had from her bag and started wipe my face and neck.

"You mentioned the sheriff's son. Spill." She said, a frown on her lips.

Tyrone Adler is not only famous at our school but he's dad is the sheriff in our town, meaning everyone knew him.

"He dumped his orange juice on me." Turning around for Delilah to tie the diner's apron around me.

"What?" Her eyes bugged out."Why?"

I started re-telling her the events that took place from the beginning. Occasionally checking the counter if there was any new customers.

"That was a dick move." Delilah commented, her eyes on me."But you're aware that what you did was wrong too, right?"

I nodded, taking my hair out of the towel."It was an immature move on my part."

Delilah patted my back, before going back to cashier area where a customer was waiting. I quickly combed my hair and tied it up in a ponytail, following after her.

"I feel like I just messed up my chance of a quiet and peaceful senior year." I sighed, wiping the counter.

Delilah turned to me, a smile starting to grow on her face."Maybe it was fate who made you cross paths." Her eyes gleaming with excitement.

Delilah was a complete worm book and her favorite theme was romance. Looking at her, I was well aware of the expression she was casting at me.

"Absolutely not Delilah." Shaking my head at her."There is no way that Tyrone and I will fall in-love. That's ridiculous." I said, crossing my arms.

"Nothing is impossible when it comes to love Zoe." She grinned, her eyes twinkling.

"When love comes, pain follows." I pointed, my lips pulling in a tight line.

"Without pain, how can you tell it's true love?" She argued, giving me a pointed look.

I shrugged, not even into romance books.

Delilah rolled her eyes."I'll serve and you cashier. Don't want to anger the manager for slacking in our work."

Letting out a laugh, I gave her a salute and went to her spot. I didn't forget to send Eliki a quick text that I was at the diner, knowing that she'll be worried out of her wits.

My eyes went to the entrance, the little bell ringing indicating a new customer entered. My mood dampening when I saw it was none other than Chica Monroe and Jax Dean.

"Good afternoon, what can I get you?" I ask, offering them a weak smile.

Chica and Jax briefly glanced at one another before turning to me. Chica giving me a bright smile that had me confused.

"I apologize for what happened earlier. We could've told Tyrone off but instead we stood there like complete bullies." Chica said, my mouth opening slightly in surprise.

"It's okay." I answered."It wasn't your doing anyway." Indeed it wasn't but I appreciated the fact that they were sorry.

"Still," She insisted, leaning against Jax."We currently made him reflect on his acrions by not lending him an extra shirt."

"I'm totally on your side!" Jax piped, slinging an arm around Chica."I'm Jax Dean by the way."

Jax wasn't the usual rugged American guy. He had more of a feminine appeal with his shoulder-length curly hair, a skinny body, and friendly character.

"Excuse my manners." Chica giggled, her cheeks reddening."I'm Chica Monroe."

Opening my mouth to introduce myself, Jax beat me to it.

"And you're Zoe Smith, the only girl at Lockhart high who managed to pull Tyrone's head out of his ass." He grinned, a blush forming on my cheeks.

"He deserved it," I shrugged."Though, his anger was understandable due to my actions but his action wasn't."

Chica nodded, twisting a strand of her white hair."I heard that you were paired up with him for a project?"

"Yes and I just got so annoyed since he wasn't answering my questions when it was an activity for two." I explained, feeling a scowl slip on my lips.

"Tyrone's character is like that. He doesn't talk much and can a complete butthole but he's a good guy." Chica said, her eyes focused on the menu.

"He's just not good at making friends." Jax added, his expression humored."The first time I met him, it took me a week to convince him that I wasn't trying to hook up with him."

Chica nodded, soft laughter escaping her lips that had her small frame shaking against Jax.

"Stop laughing little girl." Jax glared playfully, making her groan.

"How many times do I have to tell you? Stop calling me that." She grumbled, a pout making its way known.

.

"Chica means little girl in Spanish." Jax explains, looking away with an embarrassed expression.

"Trust me, nothing is little about me Jax." Chica confidently said, crossing her arms further to make her point across.

Jax rolled his eyes."Let me remind you then, What's your height?" He asks.

"What's wrong with being 5'2?" Chica frowned, looking adorably confused.

"It's just the fact that you're small." Jax stated, grinning.

"Ní mo locht-sa Tá easpa hormóin fáis agam." Chica muttered, earning a cheesy grin from Jax.

I could only stand there and stare at them in amusement, somehow finding their interaction adorable.

There were rumors around that they were dating and I guess now understood why it existed.

"Let me repeat my question from earlier," I piped in, their cheeks turning red."What would you like to order?"

Jax cleared his throat, scratching the back of neck."I'd like to have two of your best seller and one strawberry milkshake."

"Dine in or take out?" I ask, punching in their order.

"That'll be a take out." Chica replied, elbowing Jax."You pay. I left my money at the car." She sweetly said, a grin on her lips.

"Scammer." Jax grumbled, trying not to laugh at how Chica raised a daring brow at him.

"What was that?" Chica ask, leaning in towards him. I quickly handed the order to Delilah who gave it to the cook.

"I didn't say shit woman." Jax replied, earning a smack on the chest from her as they took a seat at one of the table to wait for their take-out.

They're definitely dating, I thought. Somehow watching their interaction closely. If they weren't then they were probably at the stage of denial.

Once their order was ready, I took it upon myself to hand it to them.

"Smells heavenly Zoe." Chica comments, taking the paper bag with a smile."I truly am sorry about earlier Zoe." She repeated, earning a smile from me.

"Apology accepted Chica." I assured, her expression turning into a beaming one.

"Being paired up with him isn't gonna be easy but can you at-least promise that you'll try to be-friend him?" She gives me a hopeful look, one that I couldn't find myself to deny.

"I promise to try Chi." I answered, knowing that it was something I'd do anyway.

They both bid me their good byes and as I watched them walk out of the diner, two thoughts were running in my mind.

One, I'm gonna try to be-friend the infamous bad boy of Lockhart high.

Two, I didn't get to kill Mr. John after class.

This chapter was amusing to edit. Zoe is portraying her feisty attitude against Tyrone and I admire her for it.
