Gathering the courage to open the door you slowly reached for the knob. Your hand was shaking uncontrollably, and you almost had to use the other one to keep it still. Well... If it wasn't damaged that is. You felt your heart beating faster with each inch you came closer towards the door.

You could feel Jeff's eyes onto your back, sneering right through your skin. You could feel the dark and eerie aura coming from the room straight through the door. As if black smoke was coming from underneath the wooden portal, ready to engulf you into darkness.

You felt the cold doorknob in your sweaty hand. You hadn't even noticed you held your breath and you gave a long, deep sigh before twisting the knob. The door opened with a soft creak, making you almost shake out of fear.

Deciding it was best to just push it open right away you prepared yourself for whatever would be in that room. You were greeted by bright, almost white lights. The whole room looked like some sort of operation chamber, complete with a bed in the middle of the room.

Several what seemed like cabinets were standing against the white, tiled walls. On the table next to the small bed were several medical tools, such as knives, injections, pumps, bandages, etc. At the end of the room was another door, this one even more stained with blood. You decided to ignore the blood on the floor, on the walls and on the furniture as you slowly walked inside.

You took a quick glance back, to see if Jeff would follow you but when your gazes met he immediately closed the door. The slam of the wood colliding with its frame made you jump up a little and suddenly the tension in the room started to rise even more.

The unseen pressure on your body became so thick that it was hard to breathe. As if your muscles were no match against the strong, invisible power of the room.

Feeling more nervous than ever you decided to keep a close look on your surroundings. You had no idea when someone would pop up out of nowhere and what they would do to you. Jeff wouldn't let you alone in the room with another killer would he?

Oh screw that, you knew he would!

"(Y/N)? Is that you?" A yelp escaped your throat as you jumped out of fright. You felt your heart pounding roughly against you ribcage and you immediately turned towards the sound. Standing at the end of the room, watching you carefully, was a woman.

You didn't need to think twice of who it was, even though she had changed greatly. Eyes widening and your heart filling itself with overflowing joy you breathlessly whispered her name:

"Rayne..."

Stepping closer towards you and more into the light you almost took a tumble of how bad she looked. Not as bad as Sandy or Lola, but on a whole different level than you had seen. She was skinny, extremely skinny. Furthermore her whole body looked okay, almost cared for...

But her eyes...

She didn't even smile when she saw you. She just looked at you. Empty, dull... Lifeless. Her appearance told you it was Rayne, no doubt about that. It were those eyes which made you doubt. Her usually beautiful blue eyes were almost grey.

As if all of the life was sucked out of them.

It took you a moment to regain from your shocked state. You thought you had seen everything. You thought that your mind had been so stained, so rotten thanks to all the horror that nothing would impress or scare you. However this wasn't something you had seen before. Something you had experienced before.

And yet it felt worse than anything you had seen.

Without even thinking of the right things to say, you blurted out: "Rayne... What has happened to you?" Somehow you felt the need to get her close to you, to search for the young, lively and sparkling girl you had known. Was she just in shock?

You immediately walked over towards her, spreading your arms to get her close to you, to feel her close to you. Sandy had been abused, tortured... But when she died she was still herself, she died as Sandy.

But Rayne...

Letting herself be grabbed by your arms and pulled into a hug Rayne hung limp. She didn't fight back, yet she didn't hug back. She was completely still, not moving or saying anything, not even showing some sort of emotion.

"What are you doing here, (Y/N)?" You slowly pulled back, your hand still placed onto her boney shoulder as you looked at her in surprise. She wasn't happy to see you, she was wondering why you were here... She was wondering why you were here?!

You tried to speak but no words made it to your mouth. You saw her eyes traveling from your face towards your wounds. It was then you saw something flickering in those dull eyes of hers. Faint... But still present. Her orbs widened and then she looked back at you.

"(Y/N)? You're awake!" Taken aback by her sudden outburst you took a step back. It was as if she just saw you for the first time, as if she now recognized you. It wasn't you who needed to be awoken... It was her. Still not sure if it was really her you looked at the woman with slight curiosity.

Was this some sort of trick? Had Jeff something to do with this? After everything you knew that these weird creepy creatures were capable of anything. For all you know they could've somehow changed into Rayne, making you believe that this doll was actually your friend.

Her eyes were scanning over your body, specifically resting on the parts that are wounded. It was then her eyes shot back up, staring into yours with shock and worry. Swallowing the small lump forming in your throat you dared to stare back at her, straight into the grey, lifeless eyes.

However it was then you saw something. Just like a few seconds ago, when you had seen a flicker in her eyes. This time it was bigger, it was greater, brighter! Almost staring at her in amazement you barely noticed her gritting her teeth against each other roughly.

You heard her sucking in air in between her teeth and from the corner of your eye you saw her balding her fists. Unsure of what was going to come next you took a step back. Almost automatically, as if your body was ready to react to any kind of danger.

You didn't recognize this behavior. This was not her way of doing things. She was way too kind to be displaying such threatening poses. At least... The Rayne you knew was way too kind to be displaying such threatening poses.

Right when you were about to feel fear for this woman you saw her face contorting in pain, in sadness, in anger... In... Happiness? A pang of worry shot through your chest. What in the world have they done to her? What is going on inside her head?

Giving as soft yet long and relieved sigh you saw her lips curling up into a sweet, small and recognizable smile.

"(Y/N)... I'm so glad you're okay." She breathed out, the sentence was spoken with difficulty, yet her voice seemed different than the way she had spoken before. Almost clutching your head in order to stop the upcoming headache you tried to make sense of this situation.

The way she spoke came closer to the Rayne you had known for all these years. Yet it wasn't as it used to, but closer. It was as if she was tainted, as if her personality was stained with darkness. It was then you came to the conclusion it was thanks to this dire situation she was in.

Staring back at the woman you began to realize again in what kind of nightmare you and your friends were in. Your friends in one even worse than you were. You had no idea what she had gone through, whatever those filthy and disgusting killer had done to her.

But she wasn't herself at all, at least not a few minutes ago.

"Rayne... Are you alright?" You decided to ask, hoping to get a real answer this time. You noticed that she gave a long sigh of exhaustion before she came closer towards you. Suppressing the urge to step back again you followed her every movement closely, afraid that she would suddenly lash out.

Her slender, pale hand reached over towards your damaged one. She took a soft and gentle hold of it, raising it slowly and inspecting the broken splint. You hadn't noticed the splint was damaged until now. It must've been torn apart thanks to harsh fall down the stairs.

"I-I'm... Fine." It came out with uncertainty, with dishonesty. You knew damn well she wasn't fine and you wanted to know why. However you hesitated for a mere second, your gut feeling told you not to dig any deeper while she was in this weird, ticking time-bombing state.

She was unpredictable, almost to the point that she was dangerous. Yet you didn't know for certain, but that was exactly the problem here. You didn't know what had happened to her, what was going on in her mind. This could result in all kinds of sticky situation, including one where she would attack you if you hit the wrong nerve.

"I have to make a new one." She whispered almost inaudibly before she turned around and walked over towards a bloody cabinet. She shoved it open like it was nothing, like the blood and gore didn't face her at all. Biting your lip you knew that she had seen most awful things, just like you.

Maybe even more.

"Did you make this?" You asked her. You were almost certain she did, however you had no idea if she could've had help from somebody else. She kept searching in the cabinet, not answering you or even acknowledging your existence. It was then she looked up, her hands retreating from the cabinet with several wooden sticks in them.

"Yes. Yes I did." She answered as a matter of fact. She walked closer towards you, again reaching for your broken hand in order to fix the splint. You knew she had little supplies to do it correctly not to mention little knowledge, but you were grateful that she did something about it.

You watched as she skillfully removed the broken parts of the splint while keeping your hand in a steady yet gentle grip. You didn't feel it at all. You saw her fingers moving quickly, keeping one of the sticks in place while she fixed another against it.

How she did it exactly you didn't know, but she did it somehow.

You were constantly at a loss for words, wondering what you would say to the woman. You wanted to bombard her with questions, but something told you that you wouldn't get anything you didn't know already. Gazing up slowly to look at her eyes you began to wonder.

Wonder what she was thinking of this whole situation. Wondering what her thoughts were on escaping these killers and getting back to your normal lives. She was always the one with the most determination, with the kind yet strong mind.

What was left of that mind now?

Hello darlings,

Here you go the next update. A little quicker than the last one, but still not to the point where I want it to be.

Anyway it's a bit of a lamer chapter, but I have something planned two chapters ahead of this one. And believe me, you'll like it. It will focus on the relationship between Jeff and the reader a little more.

The next update is still uncertain (I hope in between the 14 days, but I can't make any promises). As said before I won't be working as much as before the next couple of months, but it'll take time for me to recover completely.

Leave a comment or heart if you like the story and do not hesitate to give some critic as well.

Have a terrific day :D
