While you let out a small sigh of relief because it was only Jeff, Sandy continued to tremble in fear. You weren't sure whether she had seen him or that simply the sound of the door opening made her scared for what was coming. Your eyes widened when you realized something.
Did Jeff ever abuse her? He is a killer who works for this so called 'Slenderman' and is bound to follow his orders. Even though Jeff only interrogated you once, you don't think he would be left out from it. Especially since he's got you now.
Somehow you felt as if it was some kind of privilege to have a 'pet'. You remembered the time Jeff said what shit he had gone through just to keep you, wouldn't he have to do extra work or something like that? You now began to stare into his lidless orbs, watching as his smirk grew wider and wider.
What was he hiding?
"We're leaving." He simply grunted, not breaking eye contact with you. His amusement scared you, why was he grinning like an idiot? You felt Sandy clinging on to you even harder and you knew that it was over. You had so much to ask her, you wanted to tell her about your plan... But you couldn't.
Your time was up.
You had to go back, leave sandy here battered and broken whilst you enjoy the company of this killer. Your eyes shifted from Sandy, who was still holding you tightly, towards Jeff. As if you were begging him for more time. But considering what he had done today was extremely rare, you knew it was futile. He wouldn't give you any more time.
Jeff visibly rolled his eyes while he marched over to you, the heavy combat boots stomping on the ground and coming closer and closer. He then roughly grabbed your arm and with one harsh swing he had ripped you away from the now crying red-head.
"(Y/N)!" She sobbed loudly as she wobbly stood up and watched as you were being dragged away. You reached your hand out to her, as if touching her one last time would do you any good. Your fingertips collided with hers before Jeff dragged you with him even harder, his patience slinking to a minimal. You struggled in Jeff's grip, opening your mouth to encourage Sandy to stay alive.

"I'll be back for you, Sandy! Just hold on!" You nearly yelled as Jeff threw you out of the room. You landed on your behind, quickly gazing into the room only to see Sandy pressing her hands to her chest and slowly falling to her knees before the door closed in front of you.
Leaving her all alone, broken and battered into a filthy room.
~~
You were lying in your bed, waiting for Jeff to return from the bathroom. You only stared out of the window, watching as yet another rainstorm tried to break the glass and leave you cold and wet. You hadn't spoken to Jeff on the way back, simply because neither of you wanted to speak.
Well you certainly didn't dare to ask him anything. His amusement had disappeared and he only walked with some kind of dark aura surrounding him. Darker than you were used to. But he didn't say anything about it, he didn't mock you or Sandy. He was just... Walking.
He was probably angry at you for some reason. But this time you could handle that. Seeing Sandy was everything you needed to get back onto the right track. At least one of your friends was still alive, but you knew you had to be quick.
Sandy said she didn't know anything anymore and soon she would be useless to them. That's why you had to get her out of there. Seeing her made you feel human again. The apathetic thinking and feeling made place for something warm inside your heart and you now realized how much you had missed that.
It was as if your soul was slowly dying inside this house, along with everything which showed that you were still alive. That you were still a sane, kind and above all good person. The constant darkness surrounding found its way into your beating organ, until it turned completely black.
However this little ray of light, this rendezvous with your friend completely engulfed the darkness within seconds, until your heart had found the strength to keep itself light again. Momentarily.
Your ears peaked when you heard rustling from the bathroom and you turned your gaze towards the door. Even after everything Jeff had done to you, even after all the abuse, the degradation and all the other things... You actually felt grateful to him.
Not too much or anything, oh no. You couldn't be bribed that easily. But you knew that this was his way of showing some sort of kindness. You were still on your guard. You had no idea why he would do something like that, why he would show you to your friend and leave just like that.

You were waiting for him to drag you back there and kill her right in front of your eyes. But your mind told you otherwise. He did this for another reason, something which you couldn't place. However you liked it. You could never ever think of Jeff as kind or as a friend.
Never.
But this made living with him a lot less of a terror.
You heard the door of the bathroom opening and then you turned back around. Some rustling was heard and then a few footsteps. You were contemplating whether to ask Jeff a few more questions, but when you had opened your mouth to talk, you soon closed it again.
It wasn't such a smart idea. He probably wasn't in a good mood either and after he had done one nice thing, you doubted that he would do another. You didn't look at him as he slowly slid under the covers. He ignored you completely.
Maybe it was his pride or something? You didn't really care, it was also good this way. However you felt slightly bad for not even giving him one single thanks for what he had done. Sure in a normal situation, you would call it extremely impolite... But he did some pretty rough things to you.
It would only be normal that he would try to make up with you on this level. But it wasn't near enough compensation. You gave a loud sigh as you felt Jeff shifting slightly and turning his back on you whilst trying to sleep.
In order to make this whole hellhole a better place you needed to stay on Jeff's good side. Once you had earned his trust little by little he would give you freedom. And once you have freedom... You can get your friends and run the hell away from here.
Of course, you weren't stupid. The house was still full of killers waiting to drink your blood and play football with your organs, but that little trust was the first step of gaining true freedom. Being truly away from those killers.
With a heavy heart you turned slightly, with one eye watching Jeff as he was trying to sleep. You had to be stupid to do this but it was all for the greater good. It was for your friends, Sandy and above all for Lola.
"Jeff?" You softly spoke, hoping to get some sort of reaction from him. He grunted loudly before his raspy voice spoke:
"What?" It sounded really hostile and annoyed. He indeed was somehow pissed and angry at you. Guess you'll never know why. Maybe it was part of his character. Constantly being pissed at everyone for no reason, simply because you can.
"Thank you." Your voice now was a little softer, as if you didn't dare to speak that cursed sentence. Saying thank you to a killer was almost ironic. It felt ironic to you. There was a moment of silence, which felt like hours to you. You waited in complete silence, not even daring to move a finger.
When you decided that he wouldn't answer you turned back around again, sighing to yourself. It was a waste of effort, as you had expected.
Oh well.
You couldn't care less though. It was more for yourself to say thank you. To actually let him know you appreciated it. It did stroke his ego a little, even though he would never ever dare to say it out loud, or show it for that matter. Maybe he would do it another time because you said thanks.
After all, all he wanted is that you were obedient.
"Go to sleep." Was the only thing coming from his mouth after a while and again the sheets were thrown your way somewhat roughly. A loud and annoyed sigh escaped his throat and you were now really sure that this would be his way of showing kindness.
Whatever. It didn't matter. All that mattered now was you, and your friends. And the one promise to get them out of here alive.

I lived in India from 1984-2005, and wrote to my parents regularly about my adventures in Indian ashrams.
