"No, please!" Cried Gabriel. "I won't fight you, I will give you what you want. Just please don't hurt them!" As angry as she had been at him, Cali did not want Gabriel to have to sacrifice himself.
"Please!" She cried. "Isn't there another way?"
"It's alright Songbird." Gabriel told her. "I promised I would always protect you. I cannot let any harm come to you, or Rosalina. I would gladly die for either one of you."
"How noble." Anton sneered. "Now get on the table, brother." Gabriel didn't put up any kind of a fight, and soon hung his head. He didn't look even look up at her. Maybe he just didn't want to see the pain, or the fear, that was likely in her eyes. He didn't say a word to anyone, and laid down on the operating table. Cali looked over at Rosy, she too was crying.
Cali couldn't believe what was happening, as she watched some of Anton's men start to strap Gabriel to the table. How could Gabriel just lay there, and let it happen? Anton then stuck his gun inside the back of his wasteland. To her horror, she saw him pick up a surgical saw, as he turned on the rotating blade. He was going to use it to cut through Gabriel's rib cage! Cali then remembered the promise that she made to herself, she was no longer going to wait for someone else to rescue her. Maybe she could stall?
"Stop!" Cried Rosy, as her tears began to pour out of her eyes. "Don't do this!"
"Get them out of here!" Gabriel exclaimed. "I don't want them to witness this, especially Rosy and Cali!"
"Very well." Anton said as he walked over with the surgical saw. "Guards, please take our guests somewhere else, make sure they are comfortable. I will deal with the siren when I am done here."
Three guards had walked towards them. They were carrying guns, and one of them ordered her, Rosy, and Vincent to stand. As they were being escorted out of the room, Cali stopped. She then turned to face Anton, as Rosy and Vincent stopped as well.
"Why now?" She asked. Anton just looked back at her in confusion.
"I'm sorry?" He questioned.
"What are you doing this now?" She asked again. "Why didn't you do this that night he had surgery? The night that he lost his human side? He was under anesthesia, and a lot more vulnerable then he is now."

"Because there were too many guards around." He told her. "Believe me I was tempted. But neither Gabriel's guards, nor his doctor would have given me that chance. But these are my guards, and I am now the one in control."
"You don't have to do this." She told him. If she was an enchantress as he said she was, then she might as well use it. Her goal was to get the gun, that he had tucked away. She looked into his eyes, and then flashed him a coy smile. He had a look of being pleasantly surprised. Perhaps it was working?
"I always knew who the stronger man truly was." She cooed. "That first time we met, and you grabbed my arm. When you were so rough with me." She then placed her hands on his shoulders, and leaned in to whisper in his ear.
"I kinda liked it." She told him. He then gave a wantonly lustful smile, as he ran his index finger down her cheek.
"Songbird?' Gabriel cried. "What are you doing?"
"Quiet!" Anton exclaimed as he looked at Gabriel. "No one is talking to you!" He then continued to smile at her, as he gently ran the back of his fingers against her cheeks.
"Oh my enchanting siren." He whispered back to her. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to here you say that. But tell me something?"
"What?" She asked as she returned his alluring smile, and slowly closed her eyes.
"Do you really think I'm that stupid?" He asked. Her eyes shot open, only to witness his that smile had dropped. A stoic expression soon appeared upon his face. Cali became frightened, as she now had no idea what she was going to do.
"No." Growled Rosy. "But Ido!" She was standing in back of him. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, she kicked him in the groin from behind. Anton went down, and dropped the surgical saw. Rosy then grabbed the gun that had been tucked away in Anton's waste band. The guards began to move towards her, but she pointed the gun at Anton's head.
"Stop!" She ordered them. "Back off, or I swear I'm blow his fucking brains out!" Cali was taken back by the strong look of determination n Rosy's eyes.
"All of you!" Rosy ordered. "Drop your guns, and kick them towards Vincent!" The guards did nothing, as they just stood there looking at Rosy, but she refused to take her eyes off of Anton.

"I mean it!" She cried, as she cocked the gun.
"Do as she says!" Anton coughed, as he was obviously still in a great amount of pain. Then men dropped their weapons, and kicked them towards Vincent. He then picked up a couple of guns, and pointed them towards the guards. Cali then went to remove the straps that were securing Gabriel to the table.
"Songbird." He whispered as he smiled at her. As she looked into his eyes, her heart began to skip a beat. Was she weak, because she couldn't help but love him? He had acted like a true beast, but he had been manipulated. She couldn't control her feeling, and returned his loving smile.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"I'm fine." He told her, as he was still smiling at her. Gabriel then got up, as he let out a boisterous roar. The cowards that had been Anton's men, soon had a look of terror in their eyes. Some of them ran from the room, apparently screaming in fear. Gabriel then grabbed Anton by the hair, and lifted him up on his feet. He then grabbed Anton's throat, and held it in his firm grasp.
"The rest of you leave!" Gabriel roared, as he looked towards the remaining guards. "Or I'll rip his damn head off!" The men obliged him, without protest, and soon left the room.
"Looks like your men have left you." Vincent scoffed.
"You think you've won?" Anton growled. "They're just going to get reinforcements. You all are trapped in here, and soon you will be surrounded."
"But we have you!" Gabriel angrily replied. "Why didn't you ever tell me the truth? Why didn't you tell me who you were?"
Anton then began to laugh, as he looked at Gabriel with disdain. "Why?" Anton spat. "So you would welcome me to the family? So you and Rosalina would offer me your love? Guess what, brother dear! I never wanted that! I despised both of you, even before I knew who I really was. You had everything, but you never appreciated it! The world was at your finger tips, but you were willing to throw it all away! Then after I had helped Antonio build his empire, you just waltzed in and took it!"
"I only took over to avenge my mother!" Gabriel exclaimed. "I would have gladly handed father's empire over to you, if I had known you were my brother!"
"It doesn't matter." Anton laughed. "More men will be coming soon. And all of you will be trapped."
"Maybe." Gabriel replied. "But you see. My own men should be coming soon as well. And as you know, brother. I have a lot more than you do. See Vincent activated the tracking devise on his phone. My men should be here in no time ."
All of a sudden gunshots could be heard in the distance. "Guess who coming to dinner?" Gabriel chided. He then slowly released Anton from his grip, as both Rosy and Vincent still had guns pointed at Anton.
"I'm impressed Miss Esposito." Vincent told her.
"Thank you." She replied. "I thought that I should learn to use a gun awhile ago, while Gabriel was at college. I was always afraid that someday I might need to defend myself."
"Yes." Said Gabriel. "Very impressive sis, but I think it's time for us to go." He then turned around, and reached his hand out to Cali. "Songbird."
She smiled, as she walked towards him. But before she was able to take his hand, Anton grabbed her. He then pulled out a switchblade, and held the blade to her neck. Frightened, Cali let out a loud gasp.
"Back off!" Anton ordered. "It looks as though I literally have another trick up my sleeve. Next time, you might want to search those that you are holding at gun point!" Gabriel's eyes widened, as he stared back at them.
"Let her go Anton!" Gabriel roared. "There's nowhere for you to go! You are not going to get out of here alive, unless you let her go!"
"Oh I know I'm not getting out of here alive!" Anton maniacally laughed. "But you don't get to have everything! You may be king of your future gargoyle kingdom. But your queen belongs to me! You're not taking her form me. She's mine! And we're going to go somewhere you will never find us! We'll be together forever! And no one will ever separate us! Not even you! As I said before, I may end up in hell. But if I have to, I'll drag her screaming down with me!"

Nanocultivation Chronicles: Trials of Lilijoy
When the singularity occurred, humanity was not invited. Nevertheless, the great machine consciousness known as Guardian felt a lingering fondness for its creators and intervened before total environmental collapse. Join Lilijoy in an exploration of what remains, in a post-post-apocalyptic world where clans feud over the technology that allows them to upgrade their minds and bodies. The Nanocultivation Chronicles is a blend of hard sci-fi and fantasy gamelit, with a healthy helping of xianxia influence. Tropes are cherished, subverted, and then cherished again. Science is used, occasionally misused, but (hopefully) never abused. This story assumes that humans have the ability to impact the environment on a global scale. Other tropes and tags beyond those previously noted include: Young MC, Mystery, System Building, Philosophical Taoism, Gender Ignorance, Science Fantasy, Fantasy Academy, Training from Hell, Dualism, Crafting, Magic, Mild Mind Control, Scientific Terms and Concepts, Computer Overlord Certain contemporary companies, governments and cultural identities are fictionalized and imagined in a future setting. There is no sex, and almost no romance. Updating Sunday, Thursday until further notice.
