This incident happened a long time back, almost 30 years ago. Now i have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. My very first house was at Macpherson, one of the very old housing estates in Singapore. But during this incident happened, at that point of time i only have one child; my eldest daughter. I was and still am a housewife till today. Most of the time, my husband was away working. He had 2 jobs so he will leave the house very early and come home way past midnight.

At first, i was alright with his schedule until one day, a very disturbing news came into our lives. So during those times, there was no internet. Most of the news we got were from radio, newspapers and TV only. What happened was there was a very famous story going around about a woman in black going around kidnapping children and to be precise, she was kidnapping only young girls to do black magic.

This particular woman will only kidnap girls aged 12 years and below. If she likes the girl, she will start to follow them home. Once she knows where they live, she would then give them a visit. She will first knock on the main door a few times, and then she will say,

'KUM KUM'

If someone responds to her, she will slowly possess them and then God knows what will happen after that. Naturally as someone who has a daughter, i was very worried about my daughter's safety. Most of the time, it will only be me and my daughter at home. At times during our daily life, we tend to forget such stories. When you get too busy, things happen to you unexpectedly.

One night at around 10pm, i told my daughter to buy some stuffs for me from the shop which was located at the block opposite mine. The shop closes at 11pm daily. My daughter was only 11 years old at that point of time and i was training her to go shopping on her own. I could see her from my apartment. I had completely forgotten about the stories of the black woman until i saw her with my own eyes following my daughter!

I was looking at my daughter from my apartment; how she crossed the road, entered the shop and then a few minutes later she left the shop with a bag of groceries but when she was walking back home, i noticed there was a woman in black dress following her! Immediately i started to recall those stories and panic!

"How am i supposed to tell her not to come up and just wait for me at the void deck first.." i whispered to myself.

What i did was.. i grabbed my keys and went off to get my daughter. I didn't even take the lift. I ran down the stairs! Truly it felt like time was running out but it was worth every second of my life because i knew that i had to save my daughter. When i reached the void deck, i saw my daughter waiting for the lift and i saw very clearly the woman in person, what she looked like. I called out to my daughter while i stared at the woman back.

"Lina! Lina!"

"Mum?" my daughter was shocked to find me panting near her.

The woman in black saw me and she was panicking; she kept looking left and right, trying to find ways to leave the place. She left the place within less than one minute. Her only exception was there should not be any adult around the child. That was the only exception. She needed to kidnap those girls when they were alone. That was my story and from that day onwards, i never heard of her anymore. Probably she was scared to show herself after i saw her in person.
