Just like English, there are three different tenses in Spanish; past, present, and future.

In this chapter, we are going to focus on the . The present tense has a pattern so if you memorize the pattern, you can easily write sentences in present tense. :)

For example, let's use the verb, hablar(to talk, to speak).

Yo hablo español. = I speak Spanish.

Tú hablas español. = You speak Spanish.

Él/Ella habla español. = He/She speaks Spanish.

Nosotros(only boys or mixed)/Nosotras(only girls) hablamos español. = We speak Spanish.

Vosotros(only boys or mixed)/Vosotras(only girls) habláis español. = They speak Spanish. (Many people really don't use vosotros and vosotras.)

Ellos(only boys or mixed)/Ellas(only girls) hablan español. = They speak Spanish. (People use ellos and ellas more often than vosotros and vosotras.)
