Adeline was pregnant and one week out from her wedding and everything had exploded. It wasn't the fact that there was another girl centuries ago— she figured in a thousand years there had to be someone. But it was the lies. Both him and Elijah lied to her, or maybe they she wasn't that special to them? It didn't seem that way by there reactions, but what really made things worse was that she was here, in New Orleans.

They didn't go back to the house last night— they went to the hotel Elijah took her to the first night she came there. Klaus had called her cell phone so many times she had to silence it. She didn't want to talk to him right now.

Adeline was sitting at the bench in between the two windows of the top floor suite, she was staring out at the city in front, trying to clear her head.

"You okay?" Stefan spoke softly, walking up to sit beside her.

"Honestly?" she shrugged. "Not really."

He gave her a sympathetic smile and nodded. He knew she was confused and upset; anyone would be. She was being thrusted into the middle of a war between Klaus and Marcel, she had just become collateral damage. Marcel wanted to hurt Klaus by bringing back this girl from there passed, but he took Adeline down with him.

Adeline was fiddling with the engagement ring secured on his left hand.

"A thousand years is a long time." Stefan breathed. "There was bound to be someone during that time, right?"

Stefan wasn't trying to defend Klaus, but he wanted to help his friend feel better. He didn't like seeing her in pain. He had a point—a thousand years is a long time not to have any kind of past and Adeline didn't expect that from him, but she did expect honesty. She also didn't expect to be bombarded by this girl days after her proposal and a week before her wedding.

"Yeah—it is a long time." She huffed. Her phone began to light up and Elijah's name was shining across the screen. She clicked the red button, declining his call. Stefan watched as she flipped her phone over, so she no longer had to see the screen and let out a deep breath, squeezing her eyes shut like she was trying to wish all this away.

Damon walked into the room, greeting the two friends.

"I went back to the party; you know to scope things out see if anything happened that we missed." Damon blurted. "Looks like we missed a massacre, Klaus went crazy and killed like six of that marcel dudes' friends."

Adeline shook her head and let out a deep breath, she could have guessed he was going to lash out. Stefan kept his eyes Adeline, watching her face for giveaways about what she was feeling.

"Typical Klaus really." Damon shrugged. "I'm going to go find Elena and let you two talk."

Damon walked out of the room, leaving the friends alone again.

"We can leave." Stefan blurted. "We can get Bonnie unlink you and we can take off, leave them behind."

"Stefan, I'm pregnant with his baby." Adeline argued.

"I can protect the baby—and you." He insisted.

"I can't." she shook her head.

"Why?"

"Because I love him!" she snapped. "I love him no matter what. I can't help it and I know sometimes it doesn't make sense, but I love him. He's my –"

"Soulmate." Stefan breathed, finishing her sentence for her.

"Yes." She whispered, tears brimming her eyes.

It was the hard truth. No matter how many people he killed or how unhinged he became, she loved him, and she always would. She needed to give him the benefit of the doubt, to hear him out about what happened last night. She needed the truth about this Mikayla girl.

"Adeline I'm just worried." Stefan admitted.

"You don't need to be—he won't hurt me."

"I know that but like Marcel said, it seems like history is repeating itself with Elijah and Klaus."

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Come on—it's obvious Elijah has some sort of feelings for you to." He blurted "And a fight like that between two brothers and a girl like you... it won't end well."

"Stefan—its not like that." She huffed and went back to staring out the window. All the sudden a sharp shooting back shot through her neck and down into her body. Within seconds she felt like she was on fire, sweat beads were already forming on her forehead "Ouch! Oh my god!" she groaned, doubling over in pain.

"Addy!" Stefan shouted, rushing to her side and placing his hand on her back. "What's wrong?"

"It hurts—my stomach hurts and my body." She struggled. "I feel so hot."

He placed his hand on her forehead and immediately jolted it away. Her skin was hot, extremely hot.

"Bonnie!" Stefan yelled.

She came running into the room with the rest of the group behind her.

"What is going on?" she gasped taking in the sight of her friend groaning in pain.

"She's burning up – it feels like fire Bonnie." Stefan panicked. "What's going on?"

The witch walked up to Adeline and placed both her hands on her body. Her eyes grew wide and she stepped back.

"We need to get her to Klaus's—now!" she yelled. "We need their help to distract that witch that tracks when magic is used—she needs to be unlinked now."

Stefan picked her up and carried her bridal style down to the car and they all piled in. The sped down the streets of the quarter until the made it to the Mikaelson house. Stefan scooped her back up off the seat of the car and flung the front door open while carrying her inside.

"Klaus!" Stefan shouted and the original came into view at the terrace level. When he saw Adeline draped over in his arms, clearly in pain he swooshed across the house to them.

"What is going on? What's happened?" he demanded.

Elijah came in the room as well—terror was written on his face when he saw the scene in front of him.

"Someone is trying to cook out your baby." Bonnie snapped. "We need her unlinked from that witch like now!"

"Kl—Klaus." Adeline struggled, her body was shaking and increasing in temperature by the second. "Help me."

He walked up to her and placed his hand on her head. His face went cold as soon as he felt her, she was practically on fire.

"Take care of her—I'm going to go handle the witches." Klaus snapped. "Bonnie, give me five minutes to get there, then unlink them."

Bonnie nodded and Klaus vanished.

"Get her into the pool! We need to try to keep her as cool as we can." Bonnie ordered.

Elijah took Adeline from Stefan's arms and walked her into the backyard, down the steps into the pool.

"What now?" he questioned.

"Just hold her close while I try to break this link." She answered. "Physical contact is a natural remedy so just do it!"

Elijah pulled her into his chest and shushed her gently, he was trying to keep her calm despite the fact he was worried himself. He could feel the heat radiating off her body, she had to be above 107 at this point. If she were human, she would be near death.

Bonnie began chanting, repeating the same line over and over. The link the witch used was strong, it wasn't as simple to undo as a normal one would. She groaned out of frustration, watching her friend growing worse and worse in the pool.

"Bonnie! What's wrong?" Elena cried.

"The link is stronger than I thought. Its hard to break, clearly the witch wanted it that way." Bonnie snapped.

"But you can break it, right?" Stefan worried.

Bonnie ignored his question and began chanting again, repeating the same line over and over. Finally, she felt it, she knew it lifted.

Adeline breathing instantly slowed and her body stopped shaking. Bonnie crashed down onto her knees with tears of relief in her eyes.

"It's done." She breathed. "The link is broken."

Elijah sighed with relief and walked with Adeline in his arms to the side of the pool and sat her up on the edge. The back door swung open and Mikayla walked out, wearing what looked like Pajamas.

"Is everything okay?" She questioned. "I thought I heard crying."

Adeline looked at the women then back to Elijah with disgust and betrayal written on her face.

"She's staying here?" Adeline spat.

"Adeline— "Elijah started. "You need to let Niklaus and I explain."

She shook her head and stood up from the edge of the pool, glaring at Elijah. She walked towards the back door, knocking her shoulder against Mikayla and slamming the door.

"Nice." Caroline scoffed, rolling her eyes.

Klaus was standing in front of all the witches, covered in blood. The only way for him to make a smoke screen on such short notice was to provoke the witches and force them to fight back against him with magic.

"Is that all you've got?" he laughed, picking himself up off the floor from where Sophie had thrown him back with her magic. "You're weak and pathetic!"

"We had a deal Klaus!" Sophie yelled. "Why are you doing this?"

"No Sophie—you had a deal. A deal you blackmailed me into by threatening my fiancés and child's life!" He rushed forward, blowing her off her feet and her back crashing against the wall behind her. "And you broke that deal!"

"Enough!" Agnes shouted, dropping Klaus to the floor in pain. "I broke your deal. I tried to hurt your baby."

Klaus looked up at the witch with a murderous glare. No one messes with his family and lives to get away with it. He wanted her dead—he wanted her blood.

"You." He scolded, standing to his feet.

Before he could do anything, Elijah dashed into the room, standing in front of his brother. Klaus looked at him like he was asking a question with his eyes.

"She's okay." Elijah hushed. "I just need to test our witches work." He pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number, then he grabbed Sophie by the arm and pricked her with a needle. "Anything? —Good work." He smiled.

"You broke the link?" Sophie gasped.

"We did." Elijah bragged, feeling accomplished and back in control.

"You gave me your word!" She yelled.

"You witches broke that word the second you started trying to kill my family." Elijah scolded.

"That was Agnes! I had no idea." She pleaded.

"Stop." He urged. "I do not care about your excuses and I trust you know my brother doesn't either."

Elijah turned to his brother and a smirk grew on Klaus's face as he slowly nodded at his brother. In unison they dashed across the room and ripped out the heart of Agnes and two other witches, leaving Sophie the line survivor in the room.

Klaus stared at Sophie with a heart in his hands. "Now—go and tell the others, the wicked witch is dead and if you cross me again, the rest of you will end up like poor Agnes and her little helpers here."

"She was our last Elder! Do you realize what you done?" Sophie cried.

"I could care less." Klaus scoffed.

"This kindness my brother and I have shown you by sparing your life—ends now. So, get out of our sight before you kill you anyways." Elijah warned.

Sophie stared at the two vampires before turning and stomping out of there. Elijah pulled the handkerchief out of his pocket and used it to wipe his hands of the blood.

"We still have an issue at home brother." Elijah informed. "Adeline saw that Mikayla was staying at the compound—I didn't get a chance to explain before she stormed off."

"And where is she now?" Klaus huffed.

"She's at the compound somewhere, she didn't leave."

"I guess we have another mess to clean up." Klaus sighed and the two brothers left the witches and their dead bodies.
