Klaus pulled Elijah by the arm and stomped down the road with her groaning and struggling the whole way. She knew there was no escaping him though-- he was much stronger than she was. He slammed the door of the compound shut behind them and instantly turned to Adeline with rage filled eyes.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Adeline shouts.

"Me? What is wrong with me?" He scoffed. "What is wrong with you! Walking around New Orleans with riff raff like Marcel! You have no idea what you are getting yourself into."

"No Klaus you're right I don't. But it beats the hell out of being here with you." She scolded. "Not even a week after you tell me you love you're here... with someone else."

"I didn't know when I would see you again! Would it be years? Decades? Centuries?" he shouted. "You didn't tell me! All you said was goodbye and I was angry, I am still angry!"

"Well so am I Klaus!" she screamed. "I'm angry!"

Adeline's eyes began to fill with tears, the anger was turning into sadness. Her heart was broken, and no amount of alcohol or rage could help that.

"Adeline—" Klaus's tone softened, and he stepped forward to the blonde, realizing how hurt she was. He lifted his hand up and cupped her face. She indulged in the touch for a moment, allowing herself to feel his skin against hers—a feeling she had missed so much. A feeling after only a week of missing she was craving for like an addict.

"No" she huffed. "Don't." Adeline backed away. She couldn't do this—she wasn't about to give into him so easily.

"I cannot look at you right now Klaus—" She wept. "I gave up so much for you. You are the only one I've ever love—I just can't look at you right now."

She didn't want to say more—she couldn't give him the satisfaction of hearing her say she still loved him but of course she did. The hybrid knew that because he loved her too, more than he had ever loved anymore. She made him crazy, made him lash out with simple words, he couldn't describe the way she made him feel but it was unlike anything.

She was his soulmate—and he was hers. Whether they liked that right now or not, it was fate, and you can't outrun fate.

Adeline walked to the door; she couldn't stay here for another minute. She needed air, she needed to think.

"Where will you go!?" He shouted after her. "This city isn't safe for you to be alone!"

"Brother—" Elijah spoke emerging from upstairs. "She will be fine; I have secured a safe place for her until she wishes to return."

"Of course, you have." Klaus growled.

The city was buzzing with people and the streets were filled with tourists with drinks in their hands ready to bar hop through the French Quarter. Adeline walked down the street looking at the carefree people finding herself a touch jealous of them. They had nothing to worry about—life was simple. But for her, life had been nothing close to simple for awhile now. She was a vampire after all, that's about as complicated as it gets.

"Hi." A brunette greeted her. Adeline looked over and recognized her instantly.

"Bold of you to talk to me." She hissed. "You do know I'm a vampire, right?"

"I do—but you don't seem too evil and diabolical." She teased but Adeline wasn't finding her amusing. She swooshed the girl backwards and slammed her against a wall in the ally nearby.

"I can be eviler than I look." She scowled. "Especially when people piss me off." The brunette wiggled under her grasp but couldn't get free—Adeline was too strong. The blonde glared at the girl for a moment longer before freeing her from her hold and walking away.

She expected the girl to leave her alone after that, but she didn't she followed her still.

"My name is Haley." She introduced herself.

"Yeah—I don't care." Adeline scoffed.

"What's your name?" she questioned.

"What's it matter?" addy was getting angry now.

"I would like to the know the of someone I want to ask a favor of." Haley explained. Adeline scoffed and looked at her with wide eyes.

"Ask a favor of me? You really are bold aren't you." She laughed.

"I want to find out more about my family—and I think your boyfriend can help with that." She admitted. "Being he is diabolic and all."

"Well, you two seem to have become fast friends—ask him yourself."

"We aren't friends. We hooked up once – when we had both been drinking and after he saw you, he threw me out on my ass." She admitted.

Adeline couldn't hide the fact that hearing Klaus kicked her out made her at least a little satisfied. Still she didn't know why Haley thought she could help, but she did see the desperation in her eyes.

"I'll see what I can do." She huffed.

Before Haley could thank her—there were men moving towards them and fast. They were staring at the two girls and Adeline could tell they were vampires, she recognized them from Marcels.

Adeline glared at them and pushed Haley behind her—ready to fight.

'Relax—were not here for you." One of the vamps scoffed. "We need her." All the eyes were now on Haley. Adeline was confused because what could these vampires possibly want with Haley.

"No wolves are allowed in the quarter—Marcels rules." They scoffed. "Sorry."

And just like that, one of the vampires punched into Haley's chest and ripped her heart out.

"What the hell!" Adeline shouted.

"She was a werewolf." The vampire scoffed. "Seems you have a habit of picking bad company." Adeline knew this was a dig at her relationship with Klaus. She stepped forward ready to fight when a random girl interrupted them.

"This is witch territory. You need to take your vampire business elsewhere." She spat.

The group stared at each other with and Adeline glared before they parted in their own directions.

"Wait!" The which called out. "You are new here, but I've heard of you. The one who is with the Hybrid."

"Wow, that's really what people are referring to me as?" she scoffed. "Well forgive me if I am not in the mood to chat—I've been through enough since stepping foot in this town."

She walked away from, but the witch had more she wanted to say. She wanted Klaus's help running Marcel out of town so the witches could be free from his rules.

"Please, hold on." The witched pleaded, reaching out and grabbing Adeline's arm. When she touched her, she felt something, it coursed through her like nothing she had ever felt before. She stared at the Adeline with wide eyes. "Oh my god."

"What is it?" Adeline questioned, startled by the girl's reaction.

"Change of plans—you are going to need to come with me." She gasped.

Adeline doesn't remember what happened or how she got here but she woke up on the cold hard floor. She groaned and sat up she tried to move but her wrists were shackled.

"What the hell?" she huffed.

"Yeah – Sorry about that. Can't be too careful—with you being a vampire and all." The witch from the quarter said, walking into the room. "I'm Sophie."

"Great—so nice to meet you. Can you unshackle me now?" she spat.

"Not yet." Sophie deadpanned. "You just became the most important part of my plan."

"Your plan?" Adeline huffed. "You mean to tell me I left one town of plotting and scheming just to come to a city full of it."

"You're a vampire—in love with an original, get used to it." She advised.

Before the conversation went any further, more women came through the doors. They were staring at Adeline with confused expressions.

"What are you doing Sophie?" An older witch asked.

"This girl is the key to helping us get rid of Marcel—to taking back our lives." She announced.

"What has one little vampire got to do with that?"

"Klaus—The original Hybrid is in love with her." Sophie pointed out.

"So, you expect him to help use take down Marcel because he loves the girl and you've kidnapped her?" she scoffed.

"He will just kill you all." Adeline blurted. "He will come here and kill you then take me with him. Klaus doesn't make deals and he doesn't like ultimatums."

She figured it was the least she could do—warn these poor witches what they were getting into.

"That's not all of it." Sophie said to Adeline before turning back to the coven of witches. "She's pregnant—with his baby."
