《SINNER - Klaus Mikaelson》TWENTY THREE

Adeline followed the eldest original out of the bar and down the street. She was drunk—and upset. If it were up to her, she would have stayed in the bar until the sun came up just drinking to numb the pain.
"Where are you taking me?" she slurred, stumbling over her feet behind Elijah.
"Somewhere safe I assure you." Elijah huffed, annoyed by the girl's drunken behavior.
"Does it every get exhausting?" she questioned.
"What?"
"Being so damn 'noble' all the time." She snickered. "I don't need you to save me Elijah – I was perfectly fine in there with my new friend Mitchel."
Elijah abruptly stopped in his tracks and turned to face the young vampire. She was laughing under her breath. The original was looking at her with a straight face—but she couldn't take anything seriously right now.
"His name is Marcel." Elijah corrected. "And he is no friend of yours—now keep walking before I'm forced to carry you."
"Okay okay, I'm coming." She huffed throwing her hands up in the air. "No need to go all Klaus on me and get psycho."
Elijah rolled his eyes, but a small smile crept on his lips. Even when Adeline was drunk, Elijah couldn't help but find her charming. He led her into a tall hotel that overlooked the quarter. They rose in the elevator until the reached the very top floor, the penthouse suite. When the elevator doors opened, she was in awe of the suite. It was a wide-open floor plan with marble floors and a panoramic view of the city.
"You will stay here—at least until you and Niklaus work out your differences."
"Get real Elijah—I'm not going to be sorting out anything with him." She huffed.
"I know I have asked this before, but I will request it of you again. Please—have a patience with Niklaus. If not for him then for me and my family." Elijah pleaded.
"Nope—no way."
"Adeline—" Elijah started.
"Don't Elijah, just don't kill my buzz tonight." She huffed.
Elijah knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with her tonight. The wounds of Klaus's betrayal were still too fresh, and she was still too drunk. He stared at her for a moment, watching her as she looked out the window in awe. He knew his brother was acting of pure emotion and not thinking right, but he was a fool for hurting someone like Adeline.
"Get some rest and sober up." Elijah announced. "I'll be back tomorrow."
He walked away, headed for the elevator when she called out to him.
"Elijah—do not tell Klaus where I am."
"You have my word." He nodded. "But you and I both know; he will be searching."
"I know." She breathed and Elijah gave her one last glance before the elevator doors closed and she was alone.
Adeline debated calling her friends and telling them everything and how mad she was at them for encouraging her to leave. She didn't actually blame them—that was just the alcohol talking. She did blame herself for not listening to everyone's warning about him. He was bad news. One week he loves her and the next he's screwing some random tramp.
The penthouse had only one large bedroom, but it was fit for a queen. The bed was a king sized with sheets that felt like Egyptian cotton, and the view of the city continued into the bedroom. The city lights lit a warm glow in the room and Adeline decided to sleep with the curtains open—to enjoy the view.

Elijah left Adeline to rest at the penthouse and headed for the compound where he knew his brother still was. He hadn't seen Klaus since Kol informed him of Adeline's arrival and what she was greeted with. He left immediately to find her.
When Elijah walked inside, Klaus was pacing back and forth with a drink in his hand—of course.
"Oh look! The great and noble Elijah is home." Klaus scoffed.
"Niklaus." Elijah huffed, unamused by his brother.
"So, where is she? Where have you taken Adeline?" Klaus accused.
"I haven't taken—" Elijah started.
"Do not lie to me!" Klaus lost control, shouting at his brother with veins popping from his neck and a tightly clenched jaw. "I was told you were seen at Marcels bar—leaving with a girl."
"She isn't ready to see you brother—not after your...indiscretions." Elijah huffed, looking his brother up and down with disgust and anger.
"So, what then? Is this how it is going to be?" Klaus scoffs. "You come save my damsel after the big bag bastard sons messes up again and soon you will steal her affections."
Elijah rolled his eyes at his brother. "That's not what this is."
"Sure, it is brother—it's the same old dance we've been doing for years. Everyone, family and friends always favor the great noble Elijah—why should Adeline be any different?"
"You do not get the play the victim this time Niklaus. Was it not you who got yourself into this predicament?" Elijah seethed.
Klaus rushed across the room, slamming his brother into the ground.
"How dare you speak to me that way!" Klaus growled.
"Nik!" Rebekah yelled, jumping off the balcony to join the two brothers on the bottom floor. "Knock this off!" she reached for her brothers' shoulder, wanting to pull him off Elijah but he shrugged her off, stepping away on his own.
"Watch your back Elijah!" Klaus warns before stomping off to his room.

Adeline woke up the next morning with he hot New Orleans sun beaming through the windows. It felt like she had slept for twelve hours and when she looked at her phone, she was right. It was nearly eleven o'clock already. She showered off and got herself around for the day, throwing her blonde hair into a messy bun and wearing a white drifty sun dress.
"I need something to eat." She huffed. Adeline hadn't fed since her last blood bag in Mystic Falls so she pulled a stash she kept in her bag out and downed two bags. She knew if she didn't curve the craving, she might kill someone on the street on accident. She walked up to the large windows and looked out at the city before her. She didn't know what her plans were or way she would go next, but she had never been to New Orleans and wasn't going to stay inside while she was here.
Adeline stepped into the elevator and left the suite behind. She didn't have exact plans, but she knew she just wanted to look around and explore the city. She was walking down the street; it was hot and humid in New Orleans so she was thanking the lord she brought clothes fit for the weather or she would surely be shopping right now.
"Fancy seeing you again.' Marcel smiled, walking beside Addy.

"What are you stalking me?" She huffed.
"No—you're just in my city. I'm everywhere around here." He said smugly.
"That's right—you're like they mayor, aren't you?" She cheekily replied, smirking over at the vampire. He laughed under his breath at her and shook his head.
"You're funny." He scoffed. "So, how about a tour?"
"Mm, I don't know about that." Adeline questioned. She didn't know anything about this Marcel guy, only that he was a vampire, and he knew the Mikaelson family.
"Ah—I see. You've got that original family chain wrapped around your neck to tight." He scoffed, eyeing down the diamond that rested on her chest.
She looked down at the piece of jewelry as the sun glimmered off it. She didn't know how he knew it was from Klaus, but the comment irked her. Klaus didn't have her on a chain.
"Fine. A tour then." She gave him a forced smile.
"Excellent." He gleamed, clapping his hands together once. "Let's go."

Marcel walked with Adeline along the streets, pointing out all the different shops and bars. Bosting on and on about how he made this city, and he controls everything in it.
"This right here is where the witches of the city are usually found." He scoffed.
"Witches? As in several?" She questioned.
"Tons of them. New Orleans is crawling with all kinds of supernaturals." He grinned. "But don't worry I control the witches—they wouldn't dare cross me."
"I'm not afraid of witches—my best friend is a witch." She eye'd down the vampire. She didn't take kindly to the way he spoke about the witches.
"Really?" He questioned, with genuine shock. "You just keep on getting more interesting by the minute."

Klaus flung the door to Gillespies Pub wide open—it was the bar Adeline was at last and the bar Marcel was known to run. Him and his gang of loyal vampires were often hanging out there at all hours of the day and night.
"How is everyone doing today?" Klaus called out, a smug smirk spreading across his face. "See I'm in a bit of a mood myself if I'm being honest so why don't we skip the chit chat and you lot can tell me what I need to know."
"What do you want Klaus?" Thierry scolded, stepping forward towards the original. He stood in a fighting stance, like he was ready to attack at any moment. Klaus looked at the vampire and let out a bone chilling laugh.
"Oh, please don't act like you have any chance against me. I'm sure Marcellus has told you all about my family and I." Klaus mocked. "It would be unwise and fatal for you to try and fight me. You see, I cannot be killed." The smirk deepened on Klaus's face and the vampires stayed staring him down.
"Now that we all understand each other all I need is some information from you and I'll be on my way." He announced. "A blonde girl, blue eyes probably in a bit of a bad mood last night came in here—I want to know where she is."
"Don't know anything about her." One of the vampires called out. "Never saw her."
"And here I thought we could be friends." Klaus shook his head. He dashed across the room and ripped the heart out of the vampire who had answered his questions. He held it up high, for everyone in the room to see. "Now—anyone want to try again? And this time, do be honest."
Outside the bar Adeline and Marcel had just walked up.
"And this completes the tour." He grinned.
"This is the bar I came to last night – it was full over vampires." She observed.
"Yup—this is my place too, A place where me and my crew hang and at night, we fill it with tourists to feed on." He bragged.
"Hmm, how—nice." Adeline scoffed.
"Come on – lets grab a drink." He insisted and the pair walked into the bar. If only they had known they were walking into a war zone.
"What the hell is going on here?" Marcel spat.
"Marcel! Finally, you decide to join—" Klaus bellowed, with a smirk across his face until he saw Adeline, standing next to Marcel. The smile on his face quickly faded and she knew he was seconds from turning this place red. He turned his glare up to the vampire standing beside Adeline and Marcel smirked at the original, like he knew what he was doing. "You have a death wish then—is that it?"
"No! Of course not old friend." Marcel cheekily grinned. "I was just showing Adeline here around my—sorry our city."
It seemed like Marcel thought he could get under Klaus's skin and it would be a harmless move in the fight for domination over the city, but he couldn't have been more wrong. He underestimated the depths of Klaus's feelings for Adeline, not to mention his raging jealousy and need to protect her.
"You think your clever don't you Marcellus?" Klaus growled.
"No of course not—I was just being friendly." Marcel smirked, raising his hands like he was innocent. "Plus, I had heard you two weren't together anymore so I thought she could use the company." Marcel had really done it now.
Klaus swooshed across the room and locked his eyes only with Marcel has he used his bare hand to chop off the head of one of marcels loyalists. He followed that up by biting into Marcels right hand man—Thierry.
"Would you look at that? A werewolf bite." Klaus smirked, walking towards marcel with blood dripping down his chin. "Yet, my blood is the only cure."
"Klaus—" Marcel seethed.
Klaus lifted his finger up to Marcel, indicating for him to be silent. He closed the gap between them until he was right in front of Marcels face.
"Remember who you are messing with—friend." Klaus whispered. He then turned his attention to Adeline and grabbed her arm—starting to pull her out of the bar. She didn't put up a fight this time, because she knew just how angry he was.
Klaus turned back to Marcel and the now dying Thierry.
"Might want to get that cleaned up—I heard werewolfs bites are nasty little things." He smirked and left with Adeline in his clutches.
