12 Years Later
Naruto smiled. Uzushiogakure was thriving, with new additions added to the village.
Without Konoha, the world was at peace. Iwagakure no longer needed revenge, as it had been carried out already. Kumogakure was friendly with Uzushio with help from Gyuki, the Hachibi, and his jinchuuriki, also the Raikage's brother, Killer Bee. Sunagakure was allied with Uzushio through Gaara's friendship with Naruto. And Kirigakure and Uzushio held no ill will towards each other.
'This is so good. So this is what peace feels like.' Naruto thought, as his Shadow Clones started doing his paperwork.
Minato Namikaze, enemy to the Raikage and Tsuchikage, was dead. So was Yakushi Kabuto, one of the strongest ninja ever to live and the two spoilt brats, Menma and Mito Namikaze. Zetsu's body was completely obliterated together with his soul, so Kaguya wouldn't be returning for many, many years. Almost all the loose ends were tied up.
'Please hand out these missions.' Naruto said, passing a jonin multiple mission files.
'Yes, Uzukage-sama.' The jonin said, Shunshinning away with the missions in hand.
'Shikamaru. Please negotiate this trade with Ishi no Kuni (Land of Stones).' Naruto ordered. 'Sasori will be your guard. Tobi, please summon the genin teams so that they can go to the Kirigakure Chunin Exams.'
The ninja quickly went to do their tasks, following their Kage's orders.
In these peaceful times, Uzushio took the place of Konoha in the 5 Great Shinobi Villages. The village where Uzumakis originated even had a top-class Academy!
Naruto grinned, as he entered his mindscape.
Kurama said, happy that he wasn't going to be controlled anymore.
'Ho ho ho, there actually is peace now.' Hashirama laughed.
'Yes. I guess Konoha was really a failed experiment. At least Uzushio isn't.' Madara added.
'Thanks guys.' Naruto said. 'For everything.'
Naruto left the mindscape in a good mood.
Everything was perfect.

It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. And so centuries later of wars between the same allied races that had fought the monsters together, and many civil wars the world had finally attained peace. However this one seemed to be, one which would soon be interrupted by a new contagion that would affect every creature in Corulant.
