《PRINCESS ANARCHY | Dream SMP》05. Used-To-Be Princess

Tubbo looks back at Nia, as he leads her to the ravine where she met Sara and Stela for the first time. His expression is one of genuine interest.
"I - uh - I'm willing to help Pogtopia," she responds.
Honestly, Nia knows for a fact she'd hate to upset Tubbo. Anybody who ever dares making this boy feel bad about anything deserves to burn in hell. He's way too sweet to have anything bad happen to him.
"Awesome," Tubbo smiles. "I'm a spy for them. It's really cool."
"I've noticed," Nia chuckles.
Tubbo and Nia walk through a tunnel that apparently Tubbo worked on himself. It leads to his library, which holds many important books and documents of the SMP, and eventually to the ravine where Pogtopia is.
Apparently, the wooden path they're walking along is also called the 'Prime Path' which originally is a path of the Dream SMP, important to Church Prime. A religion many seem to devote a part of their life to.
When you walk on the Prime Path, it is possible to get free money for nothing. But Nia doesn't entirely understand where the money would come from.
"Tubbo! You're finally here!" exclaims a blonde boy, seemingly the same age as Tubbo, however, much taller.
If Nia had to guess, he's about the same height as Technoblade.
"Hey, Tommy," Tubbo greets the blonde boy. He grins, glancing at Nia, who follows behind him.
Today, she's decided to not walk around weaponless, having her classic two swords on her back and an axe on her belt. She will probably need to get new clothes, as she has none of her own, and is currently still wearing Sara and Stela's.
"And who's this?" Tommy points at Nia with a raised brow.
"It's rude to point your finger at other people, Tommy," says Nia with a tut.
The boy only furrows his eyebrows, staring at her. She stares back at him, eyeing the red and white T-shirt he wears. She wonders if that's his most distinctive feature.
"This is Nia, Tommy," Tubbo introduces the woman to his friend. "She's here to help us! Like Technoblade."
The excitement in Tubbo's voice makes Nia feel slightly terrible, knowing that neither she or Technoblade could possibly support a government.
Tommy examines Nia with a slight frown. "You're like Technoblade?" he asks, raising a brow at her. "I'm sure you're not even close to the Blade."
Nia laughs, nodding. "I didn't know Techno had such admirers."
The princess notices the iron sword hanging by Tommy's hip carelessly, smirking. With a swift motion, she grips the hilt of the sword and pulls it out. Tommy manages to gasp before Nia easily trips the boy over and points the sword to his neck.

"But you should know that Techno and I used to spar together. He's not better than me just like I'm not better than him in a fight. So, don't you ever underestimate me."
"Oh my, is the child bothering you?"
"Wilbur?" Tommy says, clearly asking for help.
"That's Wilbur, he's the ex-president of L'Manburg," Tubbo whispers to Nia.
"I know, Tubbo, I've been informed of that," Nia tells the boy, keeping eye contact with the taller man and holding Tommy's iron sword pressed to his neck, still.
"And who might you be? I don't seem to know you," Wilbur says, approaching the trio of Tommy, Tubbo and Nia. The man grins at her, and she takes in his appearance.
Wilbur is a generally good-looking man. He's wearing a brown coat, black fingerless gloves and a black beanie to tame his wild brown curls. Nia can totally understand why Sara would follow this man anywhere. He radiates charisma.
He seems to be exactly the kind of person that you follow into battle simply because they say so. A perfect leader, perhaps manipulator, and above all - president.
"Nia," the princess introduces herself, extending her free hand to shake it with Wilbur.
"Wilbur Soot."
"What the fuck?" Tommy complains loudly. "Get me out of here! Wilbur! Help me!"
"Is this a normal thing for you around here?" Nia questions, nodding toward the struggling Tommy, who doesn't dare to move around too much, as it might result in prickling his neck with the tip of the sword Nia's holding onto.
Wilbur nods. "Pretty much. But we tolerate it."
"Interesting."
Glancing at Tommy, Nia gives him a cocky grin before raising the sword off of Tommy's neck. She flips the sword, the hilt now pointing at Tommy. She's offering it back to him.
Tommy glares at the woman. Standing up, he takes the sword back, yanking it out of Nia's grasp. The sharp edge grazes her fingers, but she doesn't flinch. She keeps smiling at the blonde boy. Besides, if one of her powers is indeed regeneration, the small cut will heal easily.
"So, what are you doing here?" Wilbur asks, glancing at both Tubbo and Nia.
The princess shrugs. "Tubbo wanted to show me the tunnel he worked on to get here from Manburg."
Tommy seems to cheer up at the mention of the tunnel, his shoulders rising and a grin appearing on his lips. "Yeah! The tunnel's great! We can get to Manburg so much faster now!"
"And you're not worried that someone from Manburg might find the tunnel, then?" Nia asks, cocking her head to the side, as she looks at both Tubbo and Tommy who seem to be equally excited about it.

"No," Tommy replies instantaneously.
"Because they won't," adds Tubbo confidently.
Nia purses her lips, nodding. "Alright."
"They already did," Wilbur remarks, getting questioning looks from the other three in the room.
"What?!" Tommy exclaims.
"Oh, yeah, Quackity spoke to me about it just before," says Wilbur, nodding. He doesn't seem too bothered by it. "He won't tell Schlatt, though. I mean, he hasn't up to this point, so."
"Dude!" Tubbo gapes at Wilbur.
"This is an interesting rebellion, you guys are having," Nia points out.
"As if you know anything about rebellions."
Nia turns around to face Technoblade, who entered Pogtopia. He sports an amused grin, and she deadpans at the man.
"So far, you've just run from a brewing one," he adds insult to injury, addressing the time she ran from her kingdom instead of possibly standing up to her father and putting her foot down.
"And I'm sure you finished it," Nia says bitterly, nodding toward the crown that rests atop of his head.
He grins once more. "Well, I didn't think your father would need it anymore. And if anything, he had more crowns, I'm sure."
Nia stares at Technoblade for a moment, wondering what he means by it specifically. There are two options. Either he killed her father, or he simply dethroned him and destroyed the kingdom to make sure that nobody tries to take his place as a monarch. She wonders what must've become of her mother.
"Did you kill him?" Nia asks directly, not wanting to beat about the bush.
Tommy, Tubbo and Wilbur glance between the two in silence, not knowing what to say. They feel that it would be inappropriate to interject or even try to lighten the mood from a topic like this.
Technoblade stays quiet, staring Nia in the eyes. She nods, taking that as a yes. In fact, his silence probably speaks much louder than if he answered with the word only. To her, it shows that he's sorry for her, but at the same time doesn't regret doing it.
Nia bites her bottom lip. Why should she be sad about the death of her father? He was a dick. He doesn't deserve any sympathy from her. He's the reason she ran away in the first place. So, why are there tears forming in her eyes?
"What happened to my- to my mother?" she asks, her voice breaking slightly.
Technoblade opens his mouth to say something, but closes it immediately. His jaw clenches as he ponders the answer he should give Nia. The man looks to the side, staring at the stone wall of the ravine instead of Nia's eyes.
"I don't know," he replies truthfully. "I - uh - I knew you adored your mother, so I wanted to find her and help her get out of the kingdom, but . . . she wasn't with your father. I don't know what happened to her."
Nia looks down at the ground, nodding. Biting her lip, she thinks that if her mother was nowhere to be found, perhaps she got out by herself. Maybe she's somewhere out in the world now, alive and well, no longer weighed down by the duty of being a queen.
"Okay," Nia says, wiping away the tear that managed to slip down her cheek. "That's okay," she repeats, "at least my kingdom's gone."
"Wait a minute," Tubbo speaks up, catching up on everything that's been said.
"YOU'RE A PRINCESS?!" Tommy exclaims loudly, flailing his arms around in the air.
"Technically, not anymore," Nia says, "but I guess I was born one."
"And Technoblade killed your father?" Wilbur cocks his head to the side.
"Wait, so were you guys friends or something?" Tubbo questions with a raised brow.
"We were friends," Technoblade answers plainly, "but then she fled the kingdom without saying anything, and I found out that she's been lying to me about who she was the entire time."
It is obvious in his voice that he holds it against her, and Nia wants to say something, but really, this is her fault. Maybe she should've done more when trying to find Technoblade during the time she wanted to run. Or she shouldn't have chickened out of leaving the goodbye letter for him . . .
Does she even still have the letter? She remembers storing it in her ender chest.
"You were an anarchist and kept talking about wanting to destroy my kingdom, Technoblade," Nia says with a shake of her head. "I couldn't have exactly told you that I'm a princess of that kingdom."
"You agreed with me every time I talked about it."
"Yes, I did." Nia looks Technoblade in the eyes. "I still do. And I probably always will."
Wilbur laughs, almost maniacally. "What a sight to see. A used-to-be princess, who's now an anarchist," he comments, his eyes glinting with a strange kind of amusement. "All because she met an anarchist pig."
"Wilbur!" Tubbo says semi-scoldingly, gazing at the tall man.
"This is awkward."

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
