Bleached Nightmare
500 years into the future, technological progress has stagnated. Wracked by a series of problems like climate change, lack of resources and the innate human lust for war, the geopolitical landscape of planet Earth is radically different, and quality of life is far from what it was in the past. While technical development and research into realistically feasible space travel has made leaps and bounds, this has come at the cost of a world that is reeling from centuries of technical stagnation in other aspects of life. The establishment of a mining colony on Mars has led to the discovery of a new, rare material called sarinium; though it is extremely tensile and durable, it has a very low melting point. The discovery of this metal leads to large mechanical infantry- dubbed 'Spirit Striders', they are six to ten meters tall and as famed for the pride they provide a nation as they are a lethally mobile heavy weapons platform. The story follows the character of Marilin, who must both figure the enigma that is her past, and what this means for her allegiances in the future. Despite her genetically physical frailty, she seeks to gain power through a vessel that will channel her wish to change the world- the Spirit Strider. --- I hope you all enjoy my work. This is a story that I began writing over four years ago in my beginning years of high school, and have cast aside unfinished in the past two years. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.

Certains diraient que c'est un véritable cauchemar d'être ainsi envoyé loin de tout ce que l'on connait, pour lui...c'est un rêve qui devient réalité. (Pour ceux qui sont déjà lecteurs de mon histoire "new chance in fantasy", il s'agit ici de la traduction française. Je ne comptais pas vraiment en faire une au début mais certaines personnes auxquelles je tiens ne sont tout simplement pas assez habile en anglais pour lire "l'original". Etant donné que google traduction, mis à part pour une bonne tranche de rire, ne fera clairement pas l'affaire, je vais me faire un plaisir de traduire mon histoire ici. Si cela ne permet même qu'à une seule personne d'apprécier mon histoire alors qu'elle ne le pouvait pas en anglais, je pourrais me dire que ça valait le coup^^. ps: il est fort probable que les noms, et de personnages, et des attaques, restent en anglais. Je trouve que cela à plus de charme. Au cas où vous auriez le moindre soucis de compréhension, je me ferai un plaisir d'expliquer ce qu'elles veulent dire, mais ce ne seront pas des tirades shakespeariennes non plus, rassurez-vous^^.
