《Prison Mate》•46- I..•

Ace has been quiet for awhile now, not bothering to see me. I'm glad he understands that I need some alone time to think. There's just so much going on, sometimes it's just hard to comprehend everything. I wish life was easy, but where would the fun be in that? But right now, I'm not having fun. I'm stressed out beyond words.

My hands grip the edge of the bed I sit on. The knuckles on my hand turn white as I clench my hands harder. "God damnit," I whisper, letting go of the bed. This is too hard, but I can't stop. I have to make it through, not just myself, with Ace too. I can't change him, but he is still my mate. It's like a curse, but maybe one day I can break it and change Ace.

I get up and walk to the bathroom, my body feeling heavier than usual. I turn on some cold water and splash it into my face. "Wake up, wake up," I mumble, trying to get my brain to figure out solutions.

I just feel so useless, I thought I was a great detective, but now, those skills are being doubted.

"Lillian," Ace says, knocking on the door of the room I'm in. I walk out of the bathroom and stare at the door. Since when did he knock?

I groan, knowing my peace and quiet was over. Not like I could expect anything else though. "What is it?" I ask him, not opening the door, just to see if he would. Or did he happen to learn some manners.

"Can I come in?" he asks, sounding a bit different than usual. It's like he was more calm, not so aggressive sounding.

I bite my lip, unsure of what Ace is up to. He can't be planning something, can he? Better not be. "Of course," I tell him unsurely, opening the door just enough so he could get in.

Ace walks in and lays down on the bed I was sitting on. "So, what should we do?" he asks, staring into the blank ceiling. He sure does zone out a lot.

I lean against the door, not really knowing what there is to do around here. He should figure something out, after all, he wanted to come here in the first place to hide from his brother. "I'm not sure," I reply in a quiet tone.

Ace gets up and looks at me, even standing up. "Well, we could play a game," he says in a suggestive way, moving closer to me.

I stay against the door, crossing my arms and raising an eyebrow. A game? What is he thinking, those are for children. At least, most of them are. Some get dangerous, even for me.

"How about, hide and seek?" Ace smirks, holding out his hand to me. I take it, moving a step closer towards him. Accepting the challenge. Not like there's anything else to do, so we might as well do this to pass the time.

Ace said we will be here till he kills his brother, but, when is he going to leave to do that? He doesn't want me leaving his side, so that's a bit of a predicament.

"I'll be the seeker," Ace snaps me out of my thoughts. "And you'll be hider," he says, whispering into my ear. I didn't even realize how close he got till just now. Must've used his speed.

I push Ace off me, "I'm still a bit injured, so you better give me a big headstart!" I tell him, being honest. I could not get far with all my bones still being pretty much broken. The only thing keeping me from crying while standing is the medicine.

Ace wraps his arms around me, "Lets not them, I almost forgot Lillian," he says, laying me on the bed, joining along. He reaches up and plays with my hair, "So pretty and fragile, just like a flower," he chuckles, letting go, "I don't know how I got so lucky."

I scoff at Ace's words. That is stranger, he's never like this. He is so trying to use me again, how dare he? Not like there's anything I can do in my condition though. I need him, so I guess I'll play along for now. I'll keep him occupied all day and night to keep him from killing of I have to.

"Lets take a nap," Ace says, scooting closer to me. My eyes go wide as he reaches over me and pulls the blanket over us. For a moment there, I had a small heart attack. I don't know why, my body just naturally tensed up.

Me and Ace were only inches away, and I still felt a bit different than usual. Empty? Yes, maybe I'm missing my friends and family or even that old stinky apartment... definitely not. I hope that place burns to a crisp.

Ace states at me, as if waiting for me to fall asleep. I bite the inside of my cheek, hoping he would go first. I would have to worry less about him sneaking out and killing people. "Don't worry, I'm never leaving you Lillian," he says, smiling.

My mouth drops in a surprise. I had never seen Ace smile like this before, it felt odd, but it was quiet sexy. I did have to admit that. I wish he would smile more, maybe one day I could find that one thing that makes him smile. I'll add that to my list of stuff I need to do.

I slowly close my eyes, watching Ace closely as I did. "You better," I mumble, noticing that I felt quite sleepy. I guess my adrenaline rush is wearing off now. As long as Ace keeps his promise, I won't have any problems falling asleep.

My wolf howled at me, trying to keep me awake, but I ignored her, feeling too comfortable. "I love you," Ace whispers, but just enough so I could hear it. My heart pounded as I realized what was just said.

He loves me.
