《Prison Mate》•36- The Truth•

I'm laying down on me and Ace's bed, curled up in a ball while Olivia tries to consult me on the issue. All I want to do is fall apart and cry. Crying never fixes your problems, but it's like a relief.

Olivia pats my back, "I'm sorry you had to go through that Lillian," she says sympathetically. Yeah, I can hardly believe it too, but it happened.

I close my eyes, "I'm don't know what I'm going to do. It's not like I can just leave him now, he's got me marked," I cry. Honestly, I look like a complete mess right now probably since my makeup is everywhere and so is my life.

Olivia sighs, "Here I'll tell you something that I hate telling other people," she says, facing me. "I don't know if Ace told you what happened in his lifetime, but it might not be true. Ace was always a bit troubled, especially at making friends. So, when he was little, he would bully just to have some people around him. But one night he was walking home and he heard some screaming coming from an allyway. At the time, he was only a little boy. He's still walks over and sees a girl being raped or murdered, I forgot which, and he attacks the guy, killing him, but the girl ran off and called the cops on Ace anyways.

"Our parents are dead, but not for the reason he thinks they are. He thinks he killed them, but they were murdered by someone we can't figure out. The thing, everybody knew where Ace was at the time, but others still believed it to be Ace.-"

"Wait, so Ace killed somebody?" I ask her, a little surprised. She looks at me with a strange look like I should have known this.

"Yes, I guess you didn't remember the part where he's a serial-" she was cut off by Ace jumping through the window. My eyes widened in fear and I backed behind Olivia, not even knowing what to expect from my own mate anymore.

Ace stays on the other side of the room, not approaching us at all. "Of all the things in this pathetic world, you're one of the Olivia," he snickers, tapping his fingers lightly again the wall.

This reminded me of the first time I physically met Ace, he sounded crazy with the way he spoke. Right now, it feels like deja vu. I hold my hand up to my heart, trying to calm myself down because I felt myself starting to panic.

Olivia growls lowly, "She has a right to know!" she stomps her foot forward, as if challenging her brother. I wouldn't pose that as a good idea, I mean he had murdered people and forced he government back into their tiny hole and with me around.. yeah.

Ace smiles, "Of course she does, he has a right to know you work for the government. Of corse she has a right to know you came here to lure her away. Of course, of course," he sings, twirling around once.

I look up to Olivia to see if it's true, all she does is look back and give me a sad look. I back away from he, feeling i trust with anybody in this room right now. One sibling works for the government and the other one is a serial killer, two of the worst things in the world. For the most part.

Ace turns to face me, "Now what will my little mate do?" he taunts, tapping his cheek. I slide down the wall behind me, feeling my heart race pick up. I cover my head with my hands to hide any emotions.

"Ace! What the hell is wrong with you?" Olivia shouts, walking towards him. I looked through a little slot I left between my arms. "She's your mate-"

"Oh yes, mate mate mate, she's one that doesn't give two fucks about me!" he points to me, growling afterwards. My wolf shied away in the corner of my mind. I'm sorry.

Olivia slaps him, hard. "Yeah, because she is scared of you. You're only using her for the mate bond benefits, that's pretty fucking shallow. I want to help you, I want to fix you, but if you can even care for your own mate, then there's no hope for you." She turns away from Ace, crossing he arms. Her eyes stare longingly at the floor, she really did want to help him, I'm just in the way.

Ace snarled, or at least his wolf did. "You know what, fuck you! Take my mate for all I care, but if I die, that's all on you two bitches," he says, pointing to both of us. I was taken back, he's been chasing me all this time and suddenly... I'm let go. Least to say, I am surprised, but there's also this other lingering feeling.

Olivia huffs and walks over to me, holding out her hand. I slap it away, getting up myself. I don't trust her, especially since she was trying to take me back to that place.

I unlock the apartment door and open it, not looking back as I left the siblings behind. My feet dragged themselves down the stairs as I left the building, hoping it was the last time. I passed by the receptionist, who waved, I waved back, not turning back.

Once the cold air hit my skin, I go over to the woods to shift into my wolf. All we wanted now was peace. She felt heartbroken, after all, Ace is her mate, so I understand that enough. But I'm relieved, I felt like I had some freedom, like I could be me again. Maybe I could complete school, or get a job. The things I can do now.

I stop in my tracks when I think of something Ace told me, "But if you do remember, remember that I can be a mate," he told me last night. I shake my head, no he can't, he's just using me...

I hope this freedom won't turn out short lived.
