Rachel Lily Monchy. A wealthy and contentious family in the southern capital and the youngest child of Marquis Henry and Lily Ann Monchy. Due to her unrivaled beauty and infamous scandals, she became known as the goddess of the south. However, Hugo did not share the same feelings with Rachel, and he treated this situation as a political engagement. He never felt an attraction towards the lady even though at a young age her beauty surpasses the other noble ladies.

Rachel's ruthless actions and shallow mindset led him to form a biased opinion of her. She seems to only care about herself, having fun, and belittling other nobility who are inferior to her. Hugo doesn't mind these pointless things, but he became concerned about her behavior when other women showed him respect and she would humiliate them in front of a large crowd, and occasionally she would even use violence to slap and kick them.

Hugo begged his father to break off the engagement because of Rachel's uncontrollable violent behavior in the upper southern society. Their father-son relationship suffered as a result of King Joseph's rejection of his son's request.

Hugo and Rachel attended Ashford Academy, and after meeting Ara Monchy Clavel, their lives were forever changed. Ara is the complete opposite of Rachel; she is a simple beauty with captivating green eyes and golden hair. She is reserved and frequently found in the library studying. While Hugo is in his senior year, Ara and Rachel just recently enrolled as freshmen. While Duke Sebastian has completed the first year of his apprenticeship since he had already completed the 4 years academy study.

To set an example for their people that they must work hard to earn their title and not depend on their family status names, the Carlyle and Astrid royal family adheres to this contemporary tradition. Additionally, the program creates networks and allies for their upcoming political duties.

During her sophomore year, Ara Clavel attracted the interest of Hugo and Sebastian. She secretly hoped that the two royal men at the academy would like her. If she preferred Hugo over Sebastian in season one, it is unknown. She went to Sebastian's room and had a sexual encounter with him in one episode. In an effort to get the Pope to test her blood for the mana completion rites in the temple, she came dangerously close to offering her body to him while trying to manipulate Sebastian.

As you are aware, the Monchy's clan operates under a political system, and members of the lower ranks, such as Barons and Counts, are not expected to participate in the temple's completion rites.

Ara was not invited to the temple to carry out the rites because her family is from the Clavel barony. She is convinced that she possesses the mana necessary to reverse the Astrid's Successor Madness curse because she frequently dreams about her gift.
