《Back In Time *King George III X Reader*》Chapter 14: Magic

Colleen sat on her bed, looking intently at her phone. Eini was in the corner, her nose buried in a sketchpad and her hand making faint sketching sounds with the pencil. You lied on your stomach on the floor, flipping the pages in a history book you found. You all stayed in this position for a while until Colleen decided to bury her face on the mattress.
"Wh-s-e-oin-t-l?" she said with a muffled voice. You and Eini payed no heed to her. She sat back up. She glared at the two of you and groaned loudly, trying to get your attention.
You looked up from your book. "What is it now, Colleen?"
Eini glanced at her and closed her sketchpad.
"He wouldn't call!" she whined, hugging a nearby pillow and making a few, fake, crying sounds. "Why won't he call? I thought he liked me!"
You rolled your eyes. "You're assuming too early.." you said teasingly. "Plus, who knows? He might be busy."
She rolled off the bed and fell onto the floor with a- THUMP. "I'm sure he would have found a way if he really liked me.." she complained. Her hair covered her entire face. It was slightly damped because of a few tears that fell from her overreacting.
"(Y/n)'s right," Eini commented before burying her nose in the sketchpad once more.
Colleen huffed. "Oh, yeah, just go against me. It's not like your best friend is here, crying her heart out because she's just heartbroken."
"I think you have the wrong definition of being 'heartbroken.' I'd call it.. somewhere between overacting and acting like a baby." You tapped her nose gently. "I do know someone who also fell in love at a small café. She also had a problem with her relationship with the guy."
She grasped your arm. "Who is she? Where does she live? I wanna meet her. Finally, someone who understands my pain-"
"But," you cut her off with a stern tone lacing your voice, "her problem wasn't as childish as yours. It was really serious, as in dead serious."
She rolled her eyes and plomped her head on a pillow on the floor. "And I thought you were nice.." she whined and playfully shoved you to the side.
"I am.. but not when a person is purposely trying to gain my attention when they know that it infuriates me."
She popped back up and looked at you with a pout. She was about to say something when- ring ring. Without any hesitation or second wasted, she dashed over to her bed, grabbed her phone and pressed the answer button. "Hello?" she eagerly greeted.

"Miss Ecclestone, we would like to inform you that you were not able to pass the auditions for the Theatre club. We are truly sorry," the caller said. Their voice was regretful. "There's always next year though! I'm sure you'll do better by then. That is all. I'm sorry if I disturbed anything. Thank you."
Colleen was disappointed not only because of the person who called, but because of the fact that she didn't pass the auditions. "O-okay. Thanks for letting me know. Bye," she answered. She layed the phone on the bed and hung her head low. "This day just keeps getting worse and worse.."
You looked at her sympathetically. "Why? What happened?" you asked as you sat down beside her.
"I didn't pass the auditions for the Theatre club!" she said bitterly. She threw a pillow which accidentally fell on Eini, causing her to mess up her drawing.
Eini glared at the perpetrator but immediately softened her gaze, seeing Colleen's shaking form. She stood up from the corner, leaving her stuff behind, and hugged the brunette. "It's going to be okay," she muttered as she rubbed circles behind Colleen's back. "Hey, don't cry. There's always next year."
Colleen leaned on to Eini's chest and said, "I'm not going to try out next year.."
You frowned. "There's always room for improvement."
"Bloody hell, no."
"Language!" Eini chided.
Colleen sighed and pulled away from Eini. "My goodness, Shane was better. I mean, she was always better. Have you seen her do that declamation piece? It was on point."
"Who what now?"
"Shane."
You thought for a moment. Shane..? I think.. I think I've heard that before. "You mean your cousin that was always top in chess?" you asked, knitting your eyebrows together.
"Yes!" she exclaimed while pointing at you with wide eyes. "She even knows how to play the violin! Well, not entirely good at it but she knows how to!" Colleen pouted. She felt like a complete failure. It wasn't like she detested any people, but seeing them all succeeding in life with all their grandeur made her extremely jealous. "(Y/n).. what talent do I have..?"
"Hm?"
"What talent do I have?" she repeated, this time louder and clearer. She looked at you with teary eyes. "I mean.. you know a lot about history, Eini is so good at art, and.. there's me. I must have a talent, right?"
"Let's see.." you trailed off. You tried to collect memories of you and Colleen nust to find out where she was good at. However, you weren't able to find any. None of them wete considered as talents. She was just smiling, telling jokes and having fun. It was like no moment with Colleen was tedious or depressing. Then, it clicked. "You make me happy everyday just by spending time with me. And that's something, Colleen. Not many people are blessed with that skill."

Colleen shoved you lightly. "No! I mean, a real talent! Any person can make people laugh everyday!" she complained while weakly slapping your arm. "And didn't you say that I infuriate you earlier, you insolent liar?"
"I did not!"
"Allow me to quote you. 'I am. But not when a person is purposely trying to gain my attention when they know that it infuriates me,'" she said, looking at you with a smirk.
"Colleen," Eini spoke. She sighed. "She literally said that purposely gaining her attention infuriates her. She didn't say anything about the person. Therefore, no, she did not say that you infuriate her."
"I-" Colleen was embarrassed. She was utterly lost for words. "S-same thing!"
Ring-ring.
The brunette groaned and glared at the ringing device. She lazily picked it up and pressed it on her ear. She let out and aggravated, "Hello?"
"U-um, hello! Sorry for the disturbance but is this.. Colleen Ecclestone..?" a deep, confused voice asked.
Colleen put a hand over her mouth as she let out a silent squeal. She inhaled sharply and sighed. "Yes."
"Oh. Well, hi. I'm Gavin Nithercott, the waiter from that small cafe," he introduced. His voice was really deep but soothing. It almost made your best friend swoon and have her face blush like crazy that put Spanish tomatoes to shame. "So how are you?"
Colleen played with the rim of her shirt. "Never been better. How 'bout you?"
"Well, it's be-"
"COLLEEN ALEXIS ECCLESTONE, COME DOWN HERE AT ONCE!" Colleen's mother chided from downstairs.
"-I think your presence is needed somewhere else," Gavin laughed out. "I'll call you later, okay?"
Your best friend sighed. "Alright," she replied before hanging up. She creaked the door open and peeped through the hallway. "What is it, mom?"
"Dinner's ready! Go get your friends and come down here!"
Eventually, the three of you went down stairs since Colleen's mother wouldn't let you refuse her offer. She was just too hospitable. Eini tried to refuse as much as she can but to no avail. You, on the other hand, treated your best friend's mother as an aunt. You conversed with her as if you were related by blood.
"So Aunt Primitiva," you started with a smile. "How have you been?"
She looked up from her plate. "(Y/n), just call me 'Aunt Prim.' It's easier to pronounce," she giggled. "But anyways, I've been doing fine. But Colleen makes it hard for me everyday."
"I heard that!" Colleen shouted from the kitchen, followed by a ton of creaking cupboards and drawers. "Mum, I can't find the bloody cookie jar. I've been searching for an hour!"
Her mother rolled her eyes. "Language, Colleen! I did not raise you to be like this. Your father would be so disappointed in you when he comes home and finds out about this," she scolded with a scowl. "And admit it, you were just browsing through your newsfeed when I complained about you. You look with your eyes, not with your mouth nor your phone."
"Bloody hell, no."
"LANGUAGE!"
A foot stomp was heard from the other room. "Mom! I really can't find it!"
"If I go there and find it, you're grounded."
Colleen groaned. "Fine! Go look for it," she replied, stepping out of the kitchen. "I give up on this."
Her mother stood up from her seat and went inside the kitchen. It wasn't long before she came back, leaning on her side against the door frame and holding a ceramic cookie jar. "What is this?"
".. Mum.. you are officially magic."
====[Author's Note]====
Psycho: I LIVE! Goodness gracious, Colleen, watch your bloody language.
Sorry for the lack of updates. I was running out of ideas. Many people wanted to have the reader go back to the 1700s but I didn't make her go back to the present for no reason. I also went to Tagaytay recently which is a province away from my home. I took the time to write this chapter.
Many people have been complaining about the setting. They want the protagonist to go back to the 1700s to fulfill the yandere scenes. But I think that'd just be boring. Also, I have some plans for this story. I would appreciate it if you will wait until everything makes sense.
Reasons Behind the Names:
If you can see, I pick unique surnames for the characters. "Nithercott" is actually a family line that died down long ago together with "Jarsdel" and others. "Ecclestone" still exists though.
For Colleen's mother, Primitiva Ecclestone, I got the name from one of my ancestors. We were given the project of researching our family tree and I found this and thought it was a beautiful name together with Adelaida and Josefina.
Psycho: I forgot to mention that I will be gone for a few months since.. well.. I still have to catch up with other stories as well. Don't worry. My other book just needs a 15th chapter and an epilogue and it's done. I still have to keep up with another though, which is also history-based.
Alright. That's all. Hope you all enjoyed!
