《Onyx Blues (Completed)》Chapter Six

A week had past, and I hadn't really spoken to Damien much since that night. I've kept mostly to myself and have avoided him at most turns, occupying myself after classes by checking out the multiple clubs I can join. I haven't chosen any yet, I never had any hobbies and none of them look interesting enough to join- they have a dnd club here oddly enough, that's the only one that I might look into but I've only ever seen people play it never played myself.
Of course Ramos tried getting me to apply for the rugby team since tryouts are coming up. I had to tell him no a thousand times, Craven must've not said anything to him about me or he wouldn't be asking.
I sighed heavily as I walked to my gym class, I loathed it so far. For every class I've had I sat on the bleachers, I think the teacher has let it slide since I'm new but I'm not sure for how much longer.
Usually I'd try and play with the others in the group sports like dodgeball, but craven AND Damien are in this class. They absolutely tear people up, some people even sit out half way through games so they don't get wailed on.
I arrived at the changing rooms and saw it was fairly empty. I always arrive a few minutes late so I can miss craven and Damien. I change into my uniform and walked out to my assigned spot, everyone was already in position.
We did some exercises and then the coach blew his whistle and called for dodgeball. I cringed and walked towards the bleachers, but was stopped by coaches whistle.
"SMIT, no bleachers for today your joining. Come over here" he called and I internally cringed, slowly turning to look at him. He gave me a look that said I'm not gonna ask twice.
I trotted over to him and he grinned patting my shoulder blowing his whistle again. He assigned teams, putting some of us on the left and others on the right. When I saw Damien was on my team I was relieved, seeing as now he couldn't get me; then I realized craven was on the opposite.
Meaning he will most likely come for me.
When the game started, I realized that I was having trouble seeing with my bangs that moved constantly in my vision as i tried to dodge. luckily I have crazy good reflexes and dodged every ball that Craven threw my way; and he threw hard since the balls whirled towards me at the speed of sound, so catching it was out of the question and I wasn't gonna throw any either.
I accidentally tripped over my own leg trying to dodge a ball that came for my own face. I fell on my knees and hissed when they slammed into a hardened slick floor. My palms pulsated at the impact as I tried to catch myself from face planting.

I thought it was over for me, until Damien loomed in-front of me, grabbing my arm and pulling me onto my feet; I was so stunned I almost forgot I had fell and the pain disappeared.
"You alright?" He asked in his regular monotone voice and I tried uttering a yeah till I saw a ball hurtling towards him through the slice in my bang.
Maybe it was my stupid reflexes that grabbed Damiens shoulder and pushed him out the way; or the fact if he got hit he'd start a fight, anyways it was a stupid idea.
Seeing as the ball slammed right into my face rather then into Damiens back. I fell right on my back due to the sheer power of the ball that I knew for a fact was thrown by Craven, I yelled out a ouch, as my face stung like hell and my back ached.
The coach blew his whistle, pausing the game momentarily. I laid on my back not attempting to get up as I held my nose in agony, it felt broken.
"smit? You ok boy, sit up for me" the coach yelled from across the court, jogging towards me. I hissed and tried to sit up, I felt someone's hands on my shoulders that helped me as well, which from the corner of my eyes I saw was Damien.
I looked down at my hand that I removed from my nose to see blood, that bastard brother of mine really gave me a bloody nose?! He was so much nicer and cooler when we were younger, where did that brother go?
I looked to Damien who seemed to be helping me as I tried to stand, why is he helping me again? I've seen him get into multiple fights in the past two weeks that totally mutilated people and here he is helping me out?
"Damn he got you good, you should head to the clinic." The coach said, but he stared at Damien instead of me, he looked a lot more shocked that Damien was actually giving me a hand then the bloody nose I had.
"I'll take him" Damien said and it was more of a demand then anything. The coach blinked astonished, he rubbed his neck as if in awe.
"Uh sure Arif, just don't beat him up on the way there" he said uneasy and I looked at him with wide eyes, this guy knows Damien could beat me up if he wanted to and he's still letting him take me to the clinic? What type of teacher is that?
"Yea I'll allow it" I muttered, can someone ask me if I want the hot head to take me? Hate these bastards.
I walked while plugging my nose and Damien walked besides me, his hand on my shoulder as if I'd fall over at any point. Yea my back and knees hurt but nothing id fall over for I'm not that clumsy; it was incredibly humiliating and embarrassing to have him escort me out of class, my face was flushed red.

I looked at Craven as we walked out, and he gave me the nastiest expression I've ever seen. Like he wanted to kill me, I immediately looked away. You know I'm the older brother? By a few months- but still he's got no damned respect for me at all.
We got to the hallway and it was silent besides the grunts I made when I touched my nose. I was mostly following Damiens lead as I couldn't remember where the clinic was.
"Uh thanks for helping me, I honestly have no clue where the clinic is." I said as I continued to breath out my mouth my nose pointed up int the air.
"Has craven been bullying you?" Damien asked, and I furrowed my eyebrows; did he notice that whole game Craven was tryna go after me?
"What? No! No.. who even is that again?" I played dumb and he eyed me like I was an idiot. I don't want him to mess with Craven like he did Ramos, and get me in trouble even more so with him.
"I know your brothers" he spoke simply and I coughed surprised. He already knows?!
"What- how do you know? Did Craven actually tell you?" I asked astonished, me and Craven haven't lived with each other since we were ten so I figured most of his friends didn't know he had any siblings, since he's hated me since I left I doubt he told any of them.
He actually glared at me like he was offended and was a bit taken back. Did I something wrong to piss him off? He just clicked his tongue in annoyance and looked ahead, geez does this man always get this easily angered...
I decided to drop the topic not wanting to piss him off even more. If he knows we're brothers, what else does he know? Surely not that- no way. Silence fell again as we walked towards the clinic, the area becoming more familiar, oh yeah it is down here isn't it.
"Does it hurt?" He suddenly said, and i held back an eye roll. Yes it hurts, my whole body hurts.
"Huh? Nah, not pleasant but I've had worse beatings then this" I joked and spotted the clinics door, and the sign above it.
"What do you mean?" He asked, but I didn't pay much attention, as I walked ahead of him and to the clinic door and opened it needing to get an ice bag pronto.
The nurse looked at me a bit shocked , more so because of the jock behind me; but he soon gave me a smile. He told me to go sit down on one of the beds and then wiped my nose and asked me how I felt. I emotionally felt a bit nervous; not from the nurse but from the hulking mass that is Damien that stood like a bouncer at the door.
"Mr.Atif? Do you need some medical assistance as well?" The nurse asked confused, I feel like the nurse and him knew each other quite well, seeing as Damien got into fights most days.
"Waiting for him" was all he said and the nurse looked a bit confused but gave a nod, not questioning it at all. The nurse let me sit till it stopped bleeding and reassured me it wasn't broken or anything, he gave me something to relieve the headache that was starting to form. I didn't stay long as I realized time was ticking and I was still in my gym uniform.
As I left the room I said my goodbyes to the nurse and Damien was right by my side. Was he escorting me back? It was getting kind of weird how he acts around me, I don't hate it- it's just super confusing.
I might even get the wrong idea... this handsome hunk, star on his sports team, in the whole entire school is showing an interest in ME; which doesn't include bullying. Does he like me or something? Wouldn't it be funny if we got together and we could... no no I got to stop daydreaming before I catch feelings.
It was another awkward silence as we walked back to gym, maybe I should press him more on much he knows about me and craven.... he seems to have cooled down.
"So are you like Cravens best friend?" I asked with unease, that'd be a bummer if he is. I know craven would kill me if I became way to goody goody with his close friend, he already had it out for me at gym class who knows what he'll have in store for me.
"No, I have you" he muttered, face forward and not looking at me. My face flushed slightly, what now? Did I mishear him?
"Haha funny joke Dame" I laughed uneasy adding on a nickname that sorta rolled of the tongue. He turned to face me but the bell cut him off as he spoke and I cursed; sorta happy at the timing.
"Shit come on let's hurry" I said speed walking away with my face flushed, I'm about to be late to my next class if I don't hurry up! I went ahead of him, mostly because of the awkward convo we just had. He makes me feel weird and I wonder if I'm the only one who feels like that.
