《Alpha's Leopard (MxM)》Chapter 25: LAWS

DYLAN ||
Goddess just being in my office without Raiden felt weird as hell. It's only been maybe 3 days since we've gotten closer to the point to where kissing and cuddling with my mate didn't bother me, but man I'm missing him like crazy!
I have Gabe and Hunter here with me going over important pack paperwork, but all I could think about was my mate and how fucking delicious he is. I know I should be focusing but how was I supposed to actually give my all to this shit right now when I have a man like Raiden waiting for me?
Oh shit... I actually just said that.
I have a man waiting for me, my man..
Damn that sounds weird to say..
Man.. I'm so gay..
"Alpha." I look up to see my Beta and Gamma both staring at me, suddenly feeling extremely annoyed that I was caught zoning out.
"What?"
"Did you hear anything we just said?" Gabe asks and I shake my head, answering truthfully and not giving one fuck about it.
"There's like 100 pack transfers we need to go through, also we have a letter from Alpha Rhogon of the Blood Rose pack. He's requesting a dinner with you and Alpha Frederick of the Howler Pack."
Alpha Rhogon? That prick... He's the alpha of one the neighboring packs. Rhogon has like 4 mates that I'm aware of and they're all men, it's creepy to say the least, but that's not why the guy works my nerves.
Rhogon seriously lives by some weird ass beliefs. He runs his pack with ancient, old school methods or maybe it's just his dumbass prick knowledge.
He's one of those men that believes he can run his pack without a Luna, that women should be seen not heard. That their bodies are nothing more than baby factories, seriously the guy is delusional.
Not to mention that he actually believes his pack is the strongest in the country when it's not. I mean he does have 4 mates, who are all Alphas and his warriors are pretty damn savage, but they have nothing on my warriors or the warriors in the Red Stone pack or the Howler pack.
Alpha Frederick of the Howler pack has been a friend for awhile now, he's a little bit older than me, I think he's like 27, but he has the heart of a pup. He knew my brother Bennett. They were really good friends when they were younger. He took my brothers death pretty hard, the last time I actually seen him was maybe 3 years ago for Bennett's remembrance ceremony that my pack throws every year.
"What does Alpha Douchebag want?" I ask, not holding back my irritation for the guy whatsoever.
"He wants to discuss some of the laws that King Kano put in place. He's asking the neighboring packs for their help." Gabe explains, handing me the letter from Rhogon. I take it and look over the shitty invitation before looking back at my Beta and Gamma.
"What laws does he want to discuss and why does he want to have dinner with me and Frederick? Can't he ask Bryson of Red Stone or King Kano himself?"
"I called alpha Rhogon yesterday when the letter arrived and asked what laws he wanted to discuss, I also asked if he would be willing to contact Red Stone instead seeing how they're alot closer to him than us, but he said he has bad blood with Red Stone." Gabe says, making me frown.

"Seriously? He has bad blood with Red Stone? How? Bryson is like the most lenient alpha I know." I ask laughing a little at the stupidity of it all.
Bryson is one of the nicest alphas I've ever met. He's always been the most courteous at the Alpha meetings.
"I don't know, but Alpha Rhogon says he has bad blood with them, so he's asking for you and Alpha Frederick." Hunter says.
"Well what laws does he want to discuss?"
"Two specific laws, which I wasn't aware of until yesterday when I finally looked through the law books.... You won't like what you see Dylan." Gabe says, hanging his head as he shakes his head making my frown deepen.
Hunter walks over to the bookshelf and grabs the Law book off the shelf, walking back over and handing it to me.
"There's alot of different laws that we think should be changed, but the two Alpha Rhogon wants to talk about specifically are bookmarked for you." Hunter said walking back to his seat.
I open the law book as I start skimming the first bookmarked law.

An Alpha is only as strong as his pack and his pack is only as strong as it's leaders.
If an Alpha has reached the age of 29 without the promise of taking a Luna, the matter shall be decided for him.
The Alpha will have two options in this case.
-Marking and mating his fated mate if not yet done.
- Marking and mating his chosen mate.
If the Alpha has not made one of the given decisions by his 29th birthday, the Alpha King will make the decision for him. Picking the shewolf that he is to mark, mate and announce as his Luna.
This law is of great importance because the pack can not prosper without its Luna, nor can the Alpha have the promise of an heir to pass the pack onto.
• The pack will suffer without its Luna, as she is the mother of the pack. The nurturer, the caregiver, the gentle hand and the love that must shine through.
• An Alpha is nothing without his Luna. She is the calm to his storm, the tame to his beast, the sense to his order.
Every new Alpha has agreed to the terms of this law at the moment of his coronation.
Breaking this law is to be given serious punishment, including stripping of title, demotion or public consequence.

Well damn.. this law is a bunch of bullshit, but I guess I can agree to it somewhat. There are some key points that make alot of sense, but seeing how I already have a Luna, this law doesn't affect me at all.
I look back at Gabe and Hunter then laugh at their saddened expressions.
"What are you two so emotional for? This law doesn't affect us, did you forget we have a Luna? Even if we didn't, I'm only 23, this law clearly states the issue doesn't arise until the Alpha is 29." I explain, attempting to close the law book.
"Dylan, that's just one of the laws that Alpha Rhogon wants to change, the other one is more serious and it does affect us... it affects us all." Hunter says with tears in his eyes.
I stare at him for a few seconds before looking over at Gabe, who was avoiding my gaze at all costs. So I look back down at the law book and turn to the next bookmarked law, slowly reading it and my mouth hangs open when I read what would now be my downfall.

There shall be NO ALLOWANCE of same sex bonds when it comes to pack leaders.
To be clear, that goes for all ALPHA, BETA AND GAMMA RANKED WOLVES THAT ARE IN A PACK LEADER POSITION.
Any other Alpha, Beta or Gamma ranked wolves that are not in a pack leader position, may disregard this law until it pertains to you.
I.E. Disregarding this law unless you become the pack leader for your rank.
The importance of this law is to protect the preservation of the title.
If you have come to find your fated mate and they are of the same sex, you are to reject each other and take a chosen mate of opposite sex.
EVERY ALPHA, BETA AND GAMMA RANKED WOLF AS A PACK LEADER, AGREES TO THIS LAW UPON YOUR CORONATION.
Breaking this law is to be given serious punishment, including stripping of title, demotion or public consequence.

I quickly slam the law book on my desk and close my eyes.
FUCK ME.
How did I know nothing of this law?? Why didn't I look over the law book after becoming Alpha?? Bennett totally would have done this!
Why didn't my dad say anything about this?! When did these backwards ass laws get passed?!
Damn it! I've just gotten to a place with Raiden that everything is going so smoothly, now it all seems pointless.
According to this law, I should have just rejected him back when I first met him. King Kano doesn't even care if rejection would weaken his pack leaders!
As long as we're not gay, then he's all good with it. What kind of shit is that?!
Fuck! What about Gabe and Avery, Hunter and Roman, Kaylie and Ruby....
Opening my eyes to look back at my friends, I see tears staining their cheeks and I couldn't help but feel the same despair for my own bond.
This truly is utter bullshit.
I've grown really attached to my mate, I don't want to lose him, I don't want to reject him, I don't like this shit!
"What are we going to do Dylan?" Hunter asks, his voice cracking as he continues to cry. I shake my head, not knowing how to answer.
"I'm not rejecting Avery, I'm not doing it. We have to figure something else out." Gabe says.
"Can we hide our bonds? Like not tell anyone outside of our pack who our mates are?" Hunter asks and I look at him.
"I don't think we can, not unless we reject them." I say making Gabe look at me.
"Which is not happening!" Gabe growls, pointing his finger at me and I quickly nod.
"No it's not happening." I reassure him.
"Well we need to think of something Dylan, this isn't fair! What was King Kano thinking? There's gay wolves in the world, does he not know that we can preserve our titles even if we have same sex bonds?" Hunter asks.
"That's true Hunter. Adoption is always an option. There's a lot of pups out there that need a family." I smile, but it instantly fades when Hunter laughs.
"No Alpha, not adoption. I mean that's true and there are alot of pups that need a home, but there's a natural way to have our own pups. I don't know how it works for two women, but there's a way to make it happen if there's a bond between two men." Hunter says, making me laugh.
"How? If there's a bond between two men, a pup can't come naturally from that. Men don't have the parts to carry pups unless they're omegas."
Both my friends look at me before wiping their tears and smiling even brighter.
"Alpha, all men can carry pups, they don't have to be Omega." Gabe says.
"How?" I ask ridiculously.
"It depends on the rank of the male that's impregnating. Like for me and Avery, he can carry pups because he's an omega, but for Hunter and Roman, then Hunter would be the one to carry the pups because his mate is an Alpha."
"What?" I ask just as ridiculously the first time.
"I'm not sure about all ranks, but I know an Alpha or Beta can cause certain changes in their mates after they mark them." Gabe explains and I shake my head, still just as confused.
"I don't know how Dylan, but once an Alpha or Beta marks their mate, if that mate is of the same sex, then the marking can force their body into the changes necessary to carry pups." Gabe explains again, but I stay completely silent. I hated where this was going.
"Men can carry pups, because we can grow a womb, Alpha."
OH HELL NO!!
My whole brain farted after Gabe's words just then. If my homosexual panic hadn't reared it's ugly head in the past few hours, it was on full alert now!
There's absolutely no way I would be growing a damn womb! I always wondered how Raiden and I would have pups, but I guess I got my damn answer. My horrible, terrifying answer.
I can't let Raiden mark me now, I can't. No matter how much I want it, and I defintiely wanted it. I wanted everyone to know he was mine and I was his, but this can't happen. I can't grow a womb, I can't be an Alpha male and carry pups. That's just embarrassing...
"DYLAN!"
I snapped my eyes to look at Hunter when I heard him yell my name, obnoxiously loud.
"WHAT DUDE?!" I yell back.
"You we're zoning out again man. We need an answer to this. What are we going to do? I'm not rejecting my mate and neither is Gabe!"
I run my hands through my hair before dragging them down my face, letting out a groan as I hit my desk.
"If Rhogon is trying to change the laws, then we go to the stupid dinner. We see what he has to say about everything and then we help him change the shit." I answer with the most logical explanation I could muster right now.
"Ok, but who's going with you? Neither one of us can go, we have to stay and look after the pack while you're gone and you can't go by yourself."
"Raiden can come with me."
Well that answer came out a lot faster than I thought it would, the least I could have done was pretend to think about it before opening my mouth.
"Are you sure about that Dylan? Do you think he would be able to handle it?" Gabe asks and I nod.
"Yes he should be fine and I'll be protected with him there. We all know he would kick anyone's ass who tried fucking with me." I say, trying to hold back my laughter just thinking back to the time he almost bit Garrett and Theo's heads off for just sitting next to me.
"Well ok then, it's settled." Hunter says and I nod.
"When is the dinner again?" I ask, grabbing the invitation off my desk and rereading it before I rolled my eyes.
Damn, it's in two days. I have to talk to Raiden about this ASAP.
"So, let's make plans for Raiden and I to be gone in two days then. Make sure Roman knows and he doesn't freak out about it." I tell Hunter and he nods.
"And I'm looking to you as my Beta to keep the pack running smoothly. Maybe start with the pack transfers that we clearly didn't get to today. Only approve those that have been approved by the King, I'll look over the rest when I get back." I tell Gabe and he agrees.
"What are you going to do with Raiden while you're gone though? You can't exactly introduce him as your mate until you know the true reason behind Alpha Rhys wanting to change the laws." Hunter says, seriously making me think.
"Maybe I can introduce him as my beta. That way there won't be any questions and even if there are, I don't have to answer them."
Gabe and Hunter both agree with my little plan.
"So let's get going with everything, explain the situation to your mates. Let them know not to speak to anyone outside of our pack about anything we've discussed."
After leaving my office, we all go our seperate ways in search of our mates.
These conversations were going to be difficult and definitely not something they would be happy with, but they're necessary and more imperative than anything that we all be careful moving forward.
Who knows how many wolves know about this law, we would have to tread lightly from this point on.
