《Girls Talk [Girl x Girl]》Chapter Forty-Three- Unexpected

Victoria walked out of the bathroom a few moments later with a sequin purple jacket on and a black top, accompanied by some jeans and black boots.
"Kate, you look great," she said.
"Thank you, so do you," I stated.
Victoria smiled.
"I would hope so, I had a mid-getting ready freak out then and wondered whether I would go," she said.
"Oh, you have to go, it's only half as good a party without you there," I stated.
"Do I? I mean, we could just stay here and watch movies and eat chocolates," Victoria said.
While it was tempting, I don't think Swan would appreciate that so much. Plus, in a rough half an hour I had managed to get my eyeliner looking slightly less like I had just smeared a pen across my eyelid, and that was an achievement in itself.
For an artist, I wasn't the greatest when it came to makeup.
"Ready?" Victoria asked.
"Yes,"
I guess in saying that, it wasn't only in a way as to say I was going to this party. I had a lot to do in the duration of an evening, that was certain.
We wandered towards Victoria car and got in, Margo had bought herself a car, so Fox and her could travel in that, which saved the four of us all sharing.
I kind of missed them though, even though I would see them in a half hour or so, Fox and Margo were good moral support when my anxiety prevented me from doing or saying things that would be easier if that whole thing didn't exist...
"Kate, what were you going to say earlier anyway?"
"I just uh..."
"Stupid traffic," Victoria sighed, then the light turned green again so she sped on down the road.
"Fashionably late?" I asked.
Victoria shook her head slightly.
"Nah, we'll get there on time," she stated.
After a few more minutes we pulled up outside the club where Swan was hosting her party.
"Hola," Swan greeted us when we walked in.
"Hey Swan," Victoria and I said simultaneously, which prompted Victoria to look at me with a smirk on her face.
"Help yourself to drinks, everything is free,"
"What's the catch?" Margo asked, wandering over to us.

"No catch," Swan said.
Margo just shrugged, taking another shot glass.
"Let's go dance over there," Victoria said, I nodded and headed on over to the spot of the dance floor that Victoria had her sights on.
We danced for a while until Victoria stopped, looking slightly concerned.
"What's up buttercup?" I asked, Victoria smiled slightly at that.
"You wanted to say something earlier..." she stated.
I nodded.
"Go on," she said.
Well, here goes nothing.
"I saw you and Zachary," I said.
Victoria's face was met with a surprised expression.
"Oh, I thought it was going to be something..." she trailed off.
"How much did you hear?" Victoria wondered out-loud.
"Everything," I admitted.
"Oh..."
Yeah.
"So you know?" she asked.
I just nodded.
"Sh- well, it wasn't exactly the way I wanted you to find out but...well," Victoria smiled, I waited for her to continue.
"Kate, you're a great person. Almost better than I could have ever hoped to find and it's just...weird, I guess,"
"Weird?" I questioned.
"This whole thing...how I began to feel was so unexpected, and then the parents thing happened and I was crushed but- Kate, I'm glad that somehow, we found a way through,"
I smiled. "It's what we do,"
The corners of Victoria's mouth turned upwards.
"I guess you're right. We make it through things a lot, together, huh?"
"Yeah, we do,"
Victoria moved closer to me.
"Kate," her eyes met mine for a moment, and then looked towards my lips.
"I guess that I should tell you the way I wanted to," she said, and then leaned in and kissed me, and I kissed her back. Victoria's hand combed through my hair as she did so, and then she pulled away.
"I love you, Victoria," I said, Victoria smirked.
"Stole my line," she joked.
"Oh I uh..."
"You're too cute, Kate. I guess that's why loving you is so easy," she said.
Victoria leaned closer to kiss me again, and smiled as she did so.
For the first time in a while, I could be peacefully happy about being with Victoria, all of our feelings had been placed out on the hypothetical table and it felt good to know that she felt the same, that I didn't have to hide how I felt anymore, and that her parents' situation was steadily getting better.

At least her aunt was accepting and willing to take care of her until her father's brash emotions gave way, if they ever did, which i hoped would happen, for Victoria.
Although she didn't need his acceptance if he wasn't ready to give that to her, she had other people, and she had me, and I had her.
Victoria pulled away and it was as if more light had flooded into her eyes, I hadn't seen them so bright before, even in the lighting of the club.
"You know what you gave me, Kate?" she asked, taking my hand in hers.
I shook my head slightly.
"Hope, for a while there I was thinking I had everything, a boyfriend, enrolled on the course of my dreams but I wasn't completely happy, you know?"
"I get you, Victoria,"
"And there you were, annoyingly perfect and I didn't know how much you would help me, but you did," she smiled, which led me to doing the same.
"I love you," she said.
I was thankful that the club lights didn't make my flushed cheeks too obvious.
"I love you too," I said.
Victoria pulled me into a hug which lasted shorter than I wanted it to...
There was all the time in the world for that, however.
"So where do we go from here?" I asked after a moment.
"Wherever you want...the cinema, the park..." she joked.
I laughed gently.
"Not exactly what I meant," It was Victoria's turn to laugh.
"I'm just messing around...Kate?"
"Yes, Victoria?"
Her eyes looked to mine for a moment, her expression displaying that she was in thought.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" she asked.
Never in a long while would I have expected Victoria to be asking me that question.
However, that wasn't to say that I was ecstatic that she was the one asking me it.
"Of course I will," I replied and couldn't help but smile.
Victoria's smile revealed her pearly white teeth, and then she grabbed me into a hug, holding me close for a while until her phone rang, the two of us quickly headed outside the club so that she could answer the call.
Victoria quickly accepted it.
"Victoria," I heard the voice on speaker phone, it was her mother.
"Mum?"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry Victoria, honey. I want you to know that I support you and Kate in all that you do. I know your father has this habit of just...flying off the handle but...we love you, Victoria, no matter what," she said.
"I love you too, mum," Victoria said.
"I've always wanted you to be happy, regardless of who or where you end up, because wherever, with whoever that is, I know you will be amazing,"
"Thank you," Victoria smiled.
"Anyway, I'll see you two for Christmas dinner if you want to bring Kate around?"
Victoria looked towards me and I nodded.
"We'll see you then, mum. Love you," she said again, and then hung up the call once her mother said her farewell.
Victoria walked over to me and took my hand in her own.
"Let's go," she said.
"No more party time?" I asked.
Victoria shrugged.
"They wont miss us too much," she smiled.
The two of us began to walk back to her car.
Even though it may be too early to say that it felt as though we meant to be together, sometimes factors of the universe are just true, sometimes people who no one ever expected to fit so perfectly into each other's lives end up doing just that. Victoria was the person who I could never have predicted anything with, yet so much happened between us that it seemed that everything had been arranged to occur that way. Life can throw in its twists and bends but you can still end up in the most perfect place for yourself.
Victoria was my unexpected safe place, and for as long as I could keep the two of us together, that was exactly what I would do.
This is the story of how a simple girls talk turned into something I would never forget...at least, Victoria wouldn't let me forget any of this.
"Girls talk, then girls fall in love..." Victoria smiled at me, then once she had turned on the engine, we drove off down the road as the clouds parted revealing the luminous stars lighting the night, and my heart beat steadily inside my chest with a new kind of warmth.
