《Girls Talk [Girl x Girl]》Chapter Nine- A Break For Coffee

"Okay, Greene, where do you want to go now?" No way, Victoria offering me to suggest an idea.
It would have been a good thing, had I had one. "I dont...know," I said, though it sounded more like a question. I noticed Victoria roll her eyes.
"Useful," she joked and continued to drive, I took a moment for my thoughts to wander, it was weird hanging out with Victoria, even weirder that she was being nice, she spoke again "Let's get food,"
"Sure," I replied.
"It wasn't a suggestion,Greene," she stated, her stomach growled just at that moment. Victoria's eyebrows creased together.
I couldn't imagine what dining out with Victoria would be like, I was awkard enough eating in oublic with strangers, but now that I was going to be sat opposite the Ice Queen herself, it was a taunting prospect.
She pulled her car over into the parking lot of a cafe 'The Pink's Lattes' "I've been here before. The food's so good," I spoke.
Victoria gave me an approving nod "You don't live as far under the rock as I thought you did," she smirked, looking towards me for a moment.
My breath hitched.
Then Victoria leaned towards me, double freaked out.
I figured it was only for her to press the unlock button on the car, which it was, Victoria looked up at me and gave me a quick wink before getting out of the car.
Phew. Relax, Kate.
I got out of my side of the car and surprise, surprise, struggled to keep up with Victoria as she walked towards the entrance of the cafe, once I entered the familiar childhood building I heard Victoria speak to the barrista.
"And I'll have a peppermint mocca, and she'll..." she trailed off as she scanned the cafe, and raised an eyebrow at me when she noticed me.

I paced over to the counter quickly meeting eyes with the expectant coffee worker.
"I'll have a piece..." I would have ordered cake, if I hadn't been so disasterously bad at eating it neatly. Rethink. "Actually, peppermint mocca too please," I grabbed out my money and passed it to her as Victoria handed over her's. "Keep the change," Victoria told her, she and I headed over to a booth in the corner.
Suddenly seeming to have a lack of any proper conversational skills, I remained silent as Victoria looked from her nails to outside thw indow. After what seemed like forever, she cleared her voice to speak but was interrupted by the barrista, who placed our orders on the table, "You sure you didn't want any food?" Victoria smirked at me, as she noticed me longingly look at her piece of carrot cake. She cut a small piece of cake and adjusted it so the pieces were divided on the plate.
"Thanks again, Victoria," I said, as I took a bite out of the cake. Amazing.
Victoria looked thoughtful for a moment before turning her attention to her mocca and taking a sip. I followed suit.
"Today's been decent," she broke the silence after a short while.
"Yes," I said, for lack of anything better to say.
"Hmm, tomorrow we'll have class again," she took another sip before meeting my eyes, I noticed something seemed to flash in them before she looked back down at her nails. Avoidance? Probably not, this was just the way Victoria was.
"Yep," I stated, taking a sip of my own hot beverage.
As Victoria seemed to not want to say anything I spoke again "Probably should have not left that homework to the last moment..."

"Wait." Victoria placed her mug back down on the table "There was homework?"
"Yes, there was," I said, as I tried to sound persuasive, but I cracked and let out a light laugh.
"Oh, very funny Greene." she said, and rolled her eyes. Victoria began to eat her part of the cake as I finished off my drink.
A few seconds passed after I placed the mug back on the table until Victoria's phone buzzed, it continued to buzz.
"Are you going to answer that?" I asked, letting a small smile come to my lips. Victoria just pinched the bridge of her nose and muttered "I'd rather not," Oh. I wondered who it was, the caller ID just read 'Zachary' wait, wasn't that the guy I had met a few days ago?
"Zack? I know him...at least I think I do," I told her.
"He goes to our University," She stated. Yeah, it was probably him. Victoria had finished both her drink and cake, but we stayed sat.
"Um..." she started, but seemed to change her mind about saying anything.
"We should probably go,"
"Zack's my boyfriend," Victoria blurted out. Oh.
For some reason, I felt a little taken aback by that fact. It didn't mean anything, it was just like Victoria to have a boyfriend. Nothing surprising about that.
So why wasn't she picking up?
Drama, I guessed.
"He's been being a total ass-wad recently, so I'm just... forget it, you know?"
I just nodded at her, athough I didn't know, I had never had a proper boyfriend before. The thought of having one now didn't seem like a real possibility at all. Victoria let out a sigh before she spoke again "Nevermind," she stood, picked her phone up and turned it off before shoving it in her purse. I stood up and we both headed back over to her car in silence, that silence didn't break once the both of us had sat down in her car. I couldn't help but feel a little sympathetic for Victoria, from the way she had reacted to that call it seemed that her boyfriend had done something to make her annoyed.
Victoria turned her radio back on to an unrecognisable song, turning the volume up. I was sure the other drivers would appreciate that...or not.
"Victoria," I spoke, as we were stopped by a red light. She turned to me, expectant.
"What, Greene?" her tone seemed slightly cold again. Oh no, that version of Victoria had made a re-appearence.
I lost track of everything that had previously come to my mind to say.
"Um...nevermind," she sighed out of impatience, and returned her focus to driving.

LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER (Completed)
Lady Chatterley's Lover is a novel by D. H. Lawrence, first published privately in 1928 in Italy, and in 1929 in France and Australia. An unexpurgated edition was not published openly in the United Kingdom until 1960, when it was the subject of a watershed obscenity trial against the publisher Penguin Books. Penguin won the case, and quickly sold 3 million copies. The book was also banned for obscenity in the United States, Canada, Australia, India and Japan. The book soon became notorious for its story of the physical (and emotional) relationship between a working class man and an upper class woman, its explicit descriptions of sex, and its use of then-unprintable words.
