《Maverick and Her Ways (GirlxGirl)》I Believe In Teachings

Chapter Fourteen:
I Believe In Teachings
Dani and I walked down the hallways, talking about how unfair that women had to give birth. I don't remember how we started the conversation exactly, but it's more likely that I started it with my weird brain. Anyways, Dani didn't seem to mind it one bit. I think it's pretty cool that she didn't get weirded out by me.
We went to her locker first, to get her jacket. Then we made our way towards mine.
"What if I want kids, but I don't want to push them out of my body through my vagina?" I explained, holding my stomach. "Why can't babies just appear out of nowhere, and then poof! Surprise! The baby looks just like me! I think I'd rather have that."
"You're silly." Said Dani, who was shaking her head and laughing at my comment. But I looked at Dani sternly, and said,
"Why can't guys give birth instead?" Dani burst out laughing. "I'm serious! I do not want to suffer through the pain, and all the sagging-of-the-boobs process."
"Oh god." Dani said, scrunching up her nose disgustedly. She turned her head to me, and raised an eyebrow. "Since we're talking about this, I want to know what your opinion about that, religiously." Dani said out of nowhere, as we neared my locker.
"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion, smiling. "I thought you're not interested in that matter?" My smile slowly turned into a smirk, because Dani looked a bit taken aback.
"I'm not." She said. "I just remembered something from the bible-"
"You read the bible?" I asked, snickering. "Do you pray every night now too?"
"Shut up, and listen." Dani rolled her eyes. "Do you remember that part when Adam and Eve were being punished by God? Because Eve listened to the snake, and ate the apple first, God said, and I quote, I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
Dani and I stared at each other. I gave her a small smile.
"Yes." I said, "I remember that part. I think it sucks, and very sexist. It's also the Old Testament, and I'm more of a New Testament girl." I shrugged my shoulders and we finally reached my locker. I quickly placed my combination, opened it, and granola bar wrappers flew out. I ignored the trash and threw my binder in.

"Wow, your locker is disgusting." Commented Dani, and I chuckled.
"Thanks, it's Nat's fault." I put on my jacket. "But yeah, like I said, I'm more of a New Testament girl. Because ya know, Jesus."
Dani looked confused.
"Aren't you supposed to defend God?" She asked, leaning on a locker and her arms crossed as she stared at me.
"In Adam and Eves situation?" I asked while putting on mittens. Dani nodded, but I shook my head at her. "You see, I believe in God, but that doesn't mean that I agree with him on everything."
Dani still looked confused.
"Dani, I have my own beliefs. God was crazy in The Old Testament. In my opinion, I think it entertained him to kill people." I explained.
"Really?"
"Yeah." I said, nodding my head and putting on my toque. "There's this guy named, Eliseus and a bunch of kids made fun of him because he was bald. So, he got pissed and cursed the children to God. You know what God did?"
"He killed Eliseus?" Dani guessed.
"Nope. God sent two bears to savagely maul forty-two children to death." I answered, and literally snickered at Dani's appalled face.
"Just because those children made fun him?" Asked Dani incredulously.
"Yeah." I nodded my head, thinking how adorable Dani looked when she purse her lips when she's thinking. "Totally messed-up right? I mean, God could've warn the children about their actions, but no. God went straight to killing. Now, in the New Testament, Jesus was the reason that God calmed down, a bit."
"So you believe in Jesus?" Dani asked.
"Of course I do." I said, nodding my head. "His teachings are the bomb. The golden rule, love one another, amd so on."
"Don't you think they're just stories?" Dani asked. "It's ridiculous. I don't want to offend you, but I think it's all fables."
"Fables that we learn from." I told her. "I believe for the sake of learning what values are. To tell you honestly, it won't even matter if you call yourself Catholic, and treat people like shit. You can be an atheist, and still be a good person. Me, I believe that there's a higher power, and I believe in teachings. I try to have an open mind, because I think- no, I believe that, it is the right thing to do."

Dani just stared at me for a while, processing everything that I just said. I couldn't tell what she was thinking, and I had the slightest feeling that I might've creeped her out or something.
"What if I told you that the church teachings hates me?" Dani muttered softly, her eyes never leaving mine. She looked sad. A familiar look that I've seen before. Pained. I wanted to ask her what she meant by that, but Natasha hugged me from behind and made animal noises.
"I'm hungry!" She complained. She quickly took her jacket from my locker and put it on. "Don't mind my starvation. 'Sup guys?"
"Maverick was just telling me that she has a crush on Jesus." Dani said quickly. The look had vanished, and was now replaced by a smirk. I stared at Dani suspiciously.
"Shh, James' gonna get jealous." Joked Natasha.
"Don't even say the toad's name!" I warned my best friend, and glancing around feeling paranoid.
"James?" Asked Dani in confusion. She frowned, and crossed her arms. "Gina mentioned his name last class, right?"
"He's just this boy who likes me." I said, waving it off quickly. "We shouldn't talk about him, he's not important."
"This is important!" Exclaimed Natasha, who held on to my shoulders and shaking it. "You should go out with him."
"But I don't want to." I complained, and slapping Nat's hands away. Nat tried to shake my shoulders again, but I used Dani as my shield. "Dani, help me." I said while holding on to her hips and literally hugging her just so Nat couldn't get to me.
"Uh, s-stop Natasha." Dani said, and I felt her arm around me. I hugged Dani closer because Nat was being annoying.
I was aware of how little space in between we have, and I was also aware that my face felt suddenly warm. It felt good to be hugged, and I guess I needed one badly because Dennis wasn't there to give me his free hugs anymore. Now Dani was here hugging me, and I didn't mind because she smells good.
"Fine." Nat said in a sing-song voice. I pulled away from Dani and smiled at her shyly.
"Thank you for protecting me from a crazy hag." I said. Dani grinned at me, and adjusted my toque on my head.
"You can hug me anytime."
"I'm hungry!" Erupted Nat again. She pulled on my arm, and Dani's arm.
We let Nat lead us to her car. I got shotgun while Dani sat the back. Then, on our way to Safeway, I reached for the aux cord, but then realized,
"Crap, I forgot my phone in my locker. Now we have to listen to Nat's boring classical music."
"Judge all you want, but I like my piano tunes."
"Here, Dani. Put your music on." I said, while handing her the cord. She bit her bottom lip hesitantly.
"The pressure." She said. "That's a lot of responsibility to take in."
"Oh come on, we're not gonna judge." I told her.
"Says the one who judges my music." Muttered Nat. I ignored her and insisted that Dani put on her music.
"You're demanding." Dani stated, chuckling
"I know right? " Nat said.
I gave them a derp face and told them to go to hell.
A/N:
Hi. Jean, here. I wanted to say that my Math teacher is a mean person. I studied so hard for a test, and on the day that we got it back, (which was yesterday) he purposely forgot to give mine and said to the class, "Jean's mark is so bad. Take a look."
So I started freaking out on my desk, and looked at the facedown test paper that he was handing (which was mine). I had a Maverick moment when everyone was staring at me and wanting to know what I got. (Picture below)
I screamed.
I fucking screamed.
I sounded like a baby dinosaur.
My friend said, "Jean, you Asian."
xoxo - Jean
P.S. Sorry that chapter was short. It's a filler. I'll make it longer next time.
