《A Second Chance At Romance》Eight

Once I finally arrived at work this morning I got busy doing my rounds and everything I needed and thankfully that occupied my time until lunch.
I kept it in for so long that I had to finally tell someone and that someone was June. She's always up for a little gossip and I thought I'd give her the details.
As soon as I told her she listened and occasionally commented here and there until finally, I told her everything.
"She didn't!" June said in complete disbelief.
"Oh, she did and I'm pretty sure it was on purpose but I didn't care though because I didn't give in."
"Good! She sounds like a real piece of work and there's no doubt in my mind that she tried to make you jealous."
"She is and that's exactly how she was in high school."
I'm not sure how I put up with her in school either. Thank gosh we weren't friends for that long considering she did something during that time that ruined our whole friendship.
Some people just never change I guess.
"Well, it's a good thing I didn't know this girl."
"Yeah, I wish I hadn't."
While we sat there I took a bite of my salad that was in front of me as she changed the subject and I was quite glad.
"So what are you going to do about the whole Carmen and Mason thing?" she asked curiously and I mean have no kind of motives.
"They seem like they actually like each other and they're having a baby together there's really nothing to do. Besides I've moved on."
Or at least I think so.
"That's good that you've moved on," June said twisting her wedding ring on her finger as she went on asking me something else with a raised brow, " is there someone else in the picture?"

I mean was there? Sure I was interested in Liam but I haven't even spoken to him besides those two times.
Would he even want to hear from me? Probably think I was a stalker for getting his phone number.
That's it I'm not going to use the phone number.
"No. No there's not."
June really didn't look like she believed me but she didn't question me anymore after that for the entire day.
Towards the end of my shift, I really just wanted to go home and crawl into bed.
I'm so exhausted that I guess when I get home I'll take a nap considering Mason wanted Lexi to come over to his house for some reason that he wouldn't tell me. You'd think since we were co-parenting that he'd tell me the reason but I guess not.
Maybe he's not entitled to tell me anything anymore.
Y'know is sad to think about how we were a family six months ago and although we had some problems we were still in love or at least I was in love with him. Although it only took him a short amount of time to move on.
I wish I had meant more to him.
Maybe one day, I could mean more to someone.
Back at my house I went straight to my room and changed out of my clothes and into something comfy which for me was a t-shirt and a pair of leggings. Then I turned on the tv as I got into bed and decided to take a small nap before I had to go pick up Lexi from her dad's.
On the television, I selected Breakfast At Tiffany's which had a habit of making me fall asleep which it did about twenty minutes in.
*
When I woke up it was to the sound of my phone ringing on the nightstand and so I picked it up and noticed it was Mason.

"Hello" I answered immediately while I sat up in the bed and checked the clock on the nightstand.
7:30 p.m
Oh crap, I didn't know it was that late.
"Hey, are you going to come to get Lexi, or do I need to bring her home?"
"I'll come to get her. Be there soon."
Immediately hanging up the phone I got up from the bed and put on a pair of shoes and brushed through my hair before heading out the door.
Throughout the drive, I couldn't help but wonder what it was that he needed to talk to Lexi about. A part of me wanted to ask but then again I didn't think it would be a good idea to get into his business.
So when I finally got to his house I walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. A moment later the front door opened revealing Mason.
"Hey."
"Hi," I said back as we stood there for a few seconds in silence until he carried on the small talk.
"Can we talk for a second?" He asked me as he stepped outside on the porch with me closing the door behind him.
What could he possibly want to say to me?
Nothing too bad I hope.
"Sure."
"Look Savannah, there's something I need to say, and before I do I want you to know that I will always care about you. Anyways I wanted you to hear it from me first that I've proposed to Carmen and she said yes."
"I know this is all happening so fast and I'm sorry but I love h-"
"Please stop." I spoke up trying my hardest not to get upset, "I can't hear this right now I'm just here to get Lexi I'm not really looking to hear about you and Carmen."
Why did he feel the need to tell me this? Besides wasn't he moving a little too fast?
Not only that Mason really had the audacity to say he cared about me and then preceded to tell me about his engagement.
"Okay well just come on inside and I'll go get her from her room."
Immediately I declined the offer, "No thanks I'll just stay here."
And I did while he went back inside to get Lexi. As I stood there I couldn't help but think about how much I was ready to finally move on and get back out there.
That's why I pulled my phone out a second later and typed in the phone number that I had and sent a message hoping they'd reply.
Hey, y'all I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
What do you guys think about Mason's news?
And finally, Savannah texted Liam!!
